More Legal Car Trouble For Lindsay

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan has been sued for crashing into a parked van.
The crash scene
The accident happened on October 4, 2005. Lohan had left the Ivy restaurant on Robertson Blvd. in Beverly Hills, driving her jet black Mercedes. She was tearing up Robertson when she struck a vehicle that was making an illegal U-turn in front of her. Her car then crashed into the parked van owned by the plaintiff.

At the time, Lohan's rep said the paparazzi were chasing her. Some witnesses say she was just goofing and speeding. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department issued a statement saying, "Preliminary investigations have revealed that paparazzi were not a factor in the traffic collision..."

If Lohan was driving recklessly, she could be responsible for hitting the van, despite the U-turn that triggered the crash.

Grandeur, Inc., the owner of the van that was struck, filed suit on May 18 in Beverly Hills Small Claims Court for $3,624.84. The case is pending.

Florian Loeckle, the CEO of the company that owns the van, told TMZ before filing suit, he sent Lohan a letter asking her to pay his repair bill, but got no response. Loeckle added, "Apparently, in Los Angeles, if you're a celebrity you can do this stuff without getting in trouble."

A rep for Lohan had no comment.

31. Lindsay (among others) is a prime example of why I believe in DISCIPLINING your children. I received plenty of scoldings and spankings, and I turned out just fine. And guess what?... I'm not morally scarred by my parents for it! In fact, thanks Mom and Dad for raising me to be a responsible, well-adjusted young lady.

Just goes to show what happens when you give your children everything they want. They have no appreciation for learning how to establish their own sense of personal integriity, nor do they regard others as being worthy of respect.

Wise up little starlets - No amount of money justifies your poor excuses for reckless behavior, and it certainly can't buy everything... especially class! It's time to realize that other people are affected by your antics. There are impressionable young people who (for some unknown reason) still look up to you and believe that you can do better. Why don't you prove them right instead of the never-ending negligence and degrading-bimbo attention you draw to yourselves.

It's time to grow up!

35. I can't believe I use to look up to this brat. She needs to take her butt and sit down somewhere before she piss off the wrong person. I wish that had of been my car she hit. i would have tore her up. Celebrity or not, she deserves jail time. And how did she get a license??? Who was her driving instructor?? She probably didnt even have to take the drivers test because if she did she would have surely failed.

36. This happened in October of 2005 and you're just now reporting it? Slow day in the 'newsroom,' I guess.

37. Unless it has been repealed since I left California, there is a law that makes you automatically at fault if you are involved in an accident while committing a crime (illegal u-turn = crime).

39. '"Preliminary investigations have revealed that paparazzi were not a factor in the traffic collision..."' Alright then, what was their final report? Who did they say in their final report was at fault for the accident? I'm surprised TMZ, that you didn't include a copy of the police reports on this case...that's not like you.

42. I'll leave the girl alone when she actually learns to respect others by not driving drunk or high, and endangering them. I'll leave the girl alone when she's actually charged for her crimes, i.e. driving drunk, underage drinking, reckless driving, using drugs, possessing drugs, etc., etc., etc. and does time for those crimes.

People need to stop using the excuse that she's in the spotlight and nobody will leave her alone. She CHOSE to be in the spotlight, and it's her own damn fault that she's the subject of gossip. If she wasn't a drunk, a drug addict, and a bad driver then nobody would be talking about her.

43. Good thing I don't like this girl! Lindsay Lohan is stupid, and I am sick of hearing about how she can do all of these things and get away with it; underage drinking, reckless driving, drug use, etc. Where the hell are her parents? She needs a major slap in the face and needs to get her act together....QUIT BEING STUPID LINDSAY!!!!!

44. Dr. M - I agree with you, she's got bigger fish to fry. But if someone made an illegal turn in front of her causing her to hit the van, whether she was speeding or not, the guy in the car is responsible for paying for the damages. If I were her, I wouldn't pay the van owner a cent till the court decided I was at fault.

There are mistakes that Lindsay has made and is accountable for, but if she's not legally at fault for this, the guy in the car is the one he should be going after, not her.

45. this is what happens when someone immature without any guidance has too much money and no one has the balls or integrety to tell them NO...

Plus she is still young and we have done stupid things when we were young... I'm not making excuses for her but just trying to be realistic.
