"Real World's" Frankie Dies at 25

Frankie of the Frankie Abernathy -- the punked-out, boat-phobic rock chick of MTV's "Real World: San Diego" fame -- died at the age of 25 on Saturday at her mother's home in Shorewood, Wisc.

Abernathy suffered from cystic fibrosis, though an official cause of death has yet to be determined, according to MTV News. During her stint in the "Real World" house, Frankie exhibited symptoms of cystic fibrosis, such as difficulty breathing and immune-system impairment, and it was a significant part of her storyline on the show.

Frankie had some tumultuous times on the show, and ended up leaving the house before the end of the season.

17. So sad. She seemed like a very sweet, very young girl on the show. It was clear on the show that she was conflicted - not too many CF patients chain smoke.

This is super sad. I hope that she's in peace now.

19. It is unfortunate that she was paraded in public as a girl with psychotic problems and than made to look like she had a medical condition, that most of us did not believe she had.
May she rest in peace and be with her family and friends.

25. I enjoyed learning about Frankie on RW and grew to admire her as a person.
What a shock at such a young age to such a beautiful woman and soul.
Rest in peace Frankie-you touched a lot of lives with your strength and courage.
Hopefully MTV will do a special on Frankie.

Wow-I'm still stunned about her passing. Sad.

It pisses me off we send people into space...for what??? We should be spending that money to help cure these diseases.
