"Sopranos" Fans Whack Creator's Wiki Entry

We all know that a lot of "Sopranos" fans thought that the series ended on a terrible note -- but taking a hit out on creator David Chase's Wikipedia entry? Oh marone!

TMZ was checking out Chase's Wiki page this morning, and noticed that the first line read, "David Chase ... is a homosexual American television writer." Now we're all for the gays, but the sexual-orientation thing seemed odd, since Chase has been married to the same woman for over twenty years.

Well, it turns out that the entry was "vandalized" by some Wiki thugs, which then caused the Wikipedia folks to clamp down immediately, disallowing any changes to the page. Wikipedia didn't comment on the changes in Chase's entry, but it won't be available again for editing until next Monday.

Yesterday, in an interview with a New Jersey paper, Chase said that he wasn't trying to "[mess] with" fans, just trying to entertain them with the provocative ending, which concluded the series in nearly ten seconds of black screen.

31. GREAT ENDING and You ALL missed it!!! We all were given two mins. to live in Tonys Sopranos Shoes. We all felt frightned and everytime someone came through the door, It seemed like we were going to get wacked. Tony lives like that every waking moment of his adult life!
And when it does happen, like it did to that guy at the Gas station (Frankie Vincent) Everything just goes black. (i hope).
Great Bit and 99.99999% of America missed it, sad really.

32. I love how some of you think you're better than the rest of us because you "know" the ending was genius. Get off your soap box and get a life. Just like Chase was allowed to end the show as he wanted, we are entitled to our opinion and our beliefs. You're no better than anyone because you enjoyed the ending. Maybe you're too afraid to admit that your beloved show actually was flawed in its ending....or maybe you enjoyed it, but it gives you no right to look down on everyone else. And as much as Chase has freedom of expression, he also would be a fool to upset the fans that have made him a multi-millionaire from this show. He created the show for the fans. If it wasn't for us, he would have no show. He is therefore obligated to at least stop acting like an asshole and maybe answer a question or two about his ending. (BTW, the wiki vandalizers are pathetic, there was no excuse for their actions.)

33. Chase left the ending to each of our imaginations....the only sure thing was that he seemed to pull the plug on our sets as he pulled the plug on the show. How many of us were cursing the cable company....

34. Tony is still alive . The story ended for us, not Tony. He will probably be going to trial. Chase has said that he never felt Tony would get some sort of payback. Chase also said he was not going to do the expected raise and fall story. Bobby said you would never see it coming when it was your time to be hit, he was wrong! Bobby saw it coming. There was nobody alive to order a hit on Tony. Little Carmine will probably take over NY at some point, he didn't have a problem with Tony. The point of the diner scene was to show us from Tony's POV the threats he feels are always there. It the end it was just showing a regular guy with a not so regular job having dinner with the family. Oh, the black men in the diner were not the ones that tried to kill Tony. Tony shot one of them, remember?

35. I never even noticed the characters from the past in the diner and I watched every episode (just never paid attention I guess). Anyway, when the guy at the bar got up and they had a shot of him entering the bathroom the first thing I thought of was the scene for that "other" mob film where they all meet in the restauarant for a sit down but someone has placed a gun taped behind the toilet before the meeting takes place. I was so sure the last scene would show that guy coming out and whacking the entire Soprano family. LOL

37. Why do people who are ticked off with producers, actors, etc., feel the need to vandalize their Wiki pages? This is not the first time unhappy fans have crapped on someone's wiki page.

A recent reality star's page was vandalized by angry fans when he chose not to continue his showmance with another reality star. Everyone is still fighting over his page.

I'm glad the Wiki administrators clamped down. It could have gotten ugly.

38.

The guy is the typical arrogant Hollywood type , He can't admit that the ending has ruined the chances of any good sales on those DVD collections ! and that a lot of die hard Soprano's Fans are disgusted and cancelling their HBO subscribtion !

With the internet * this guy is sure to have his reputation " tarnished " There is Power in numbers .

39. The final episode of sopranos SUCKED royally. We were robbed. That black screen should have read suckers!!! If we were reading a 300 pg mystery and we were on pg 299 then flipped to pg 300 for the ending and it was blank. Would that suck? Yes, of course it would. D. Chase is evil.

40. my first thought was that it was aweful. however, i am sorry to say, that i have been thinking about the ending and the song by journey for the last two days. i have now come to believe that the ending is rather provacative. not only does it leave the end of the soprano's to the viewers' imagination, but it makes us look at ourselves and the lives we lead and everything that we consider "normal". that being considered, yes there are alternative endings, but one can only guess at the paranoia that tony felt as he looked around the bar at the odd variety of characters, much as we do in life, and wondered if any of them were about to off him and his family. the fade to black was, in retrospect, wonderful acconpanied by journey's song that ended, appropriately, with "don't stop". go beyond any of the expected endings and look into yourself and your everyday life. it might make you reconsider if you felt denied.

41. I get a chuckle out of people who act as if the last episode's ending was/is some abstract painting and we mere MORTALS don't get it... Fact of the matter I feel cheated.

Tony was never an ordinary guy nor was his family Ordinary, so why go out ordinary???

Why would he(Tony Soprano) go out unsecured Restaurant, right after his nemisis just got whacked, and had his head ran-over?
Before you folks "Cannonized" Dave Chase, remeber some of the other plot lines where he(Chase) left us hanging i.e. the Russians in the woods or the interracial romance of Meadow.

Matter of fact , Chase took the easy way out, and while I won't "Blast" him, I'm certainly not happy how the show wimped out. But I guess we can all look forward to Sopranos the Movie???

44. Hey Think again,
All wrong sorry. The actor playing the Members only guy had never been on the show before. Tony killed at least, if not both of his carjackers.
