"Sopranos" Fans Whack Creator's Wiki Entry

We all know that a lot of "Sopranos" fans thought that the series ended on a terrible note -- but taking a hit out on creator David Chase's Wikipedia entry? Oh marone!

TMZ was checking out Chase's Wiki page this morning, and noticed that the first line read, "David Chase ... is a homosexual American television writer." Now we're all for the gays, but the sexual-orientation thing seemed odd, since Chase has been married to the same woman for over twenty years.

Well, it turns out that the entry was "vandalized" by some Wiki thugs, which then caused the Wikipedia folks to clamp down immediately, disallowing any changes to the page. Wikipedia didn't comment on the changes in Chase's entry, but it won't be available again for editing until next Monday.

Yesterday, in an interview with a New Jersey paper, Chase said that he wasn't trying to "[mess] with" fans, just trying to entertain them with the provocative ending, which concluded the series in nearly ten seconds of black screen.

46. Hey, let's discuss the Sopranos ending on a gossip blog news item about a wikipedia entry being vandalized... that's sure to result in some primo discussion.

47. Sopranos is gone? WHO CARES! This bloated, violent, morally bereft series reflects everything that is wrong in America: corruption, violence, greed, hatred, cronyism and an insufferable ability to comes to terms with our own weakness. If I have to hear about another stupid gangster movie or television series, I think I'll move to Canada. No wonder this nation backed the Bush administration and King George's murderous war. Stick a fork in America, it's done.

48. it was some shock when it just ended, when it ran off the reel. from the reading of comments, the was unseen (by me) depth, even scene, every person, every word and sound: meaning. A nice attempt of art imitating life.
and it just stopped, broken!
and in reflection, a wonderful and courageous way to end, artistic and very risky, but utterly true to the craft: this is the way I see it and this is how I will present it. not a trick, but an attempt at art...
that was the first time I ever saw such an ending. I doubt that I will ever see another: it has been done. unless we forget, if it ever happens again? it will just be "a soprano ending".
we can apply meaning upon meaning upon meaning: ultimately, there is none. it all just runs off the reel. but we will create meaning: that's what we do. that's what we're good at.

49. I have watched the Sopranos from episode one, such a wonderful series, but the sad thing is, this series will not be remembered for being a great & wonderful series. But it will be remembered for such a crazy ending. I also thought my cable had gone out at such a critical time but I felt so cheated when I realised that in fact that was it, after 86 episodes, after all the build up, nothing happened, but I did have a craving for onion rings after seeing the family eat some,

50. To "Think Again"
The man in the Members Only jacket is not the same guy who played Nikki Leotardo. Read this:

52. TONY WAS WACKED IN FRONT OF HIS FAMILY FOR PAY BACK FOR THE DEATH OF PHIL! WHO WAS KILLED IN FRONT OF HIS FAMILY. THE GUY THAT WENT INTO THE BATHROOM SHOT TONY. TONY DIDN'T SEE HIM COME OUT OF THE BATHROOM,BECAUSE HE WAS LOOKING AT MEADOW WALK INTO THE DINNER. IT WENT BLACK, BECAUSE HE DIDN'T SEE IT COMING. HIM & BOBBY WERE TALKING ABOUT THAT A FEW EPISODES EARLIER!

54. What the heck is Sopranos?

55. I think , as a casual watcher, the ending was supposed to convey to the watcher that, even though the series is over, for Tony, its never going to be over. Every doorbell, every time someone moves, every moment of every day, the series was "living" on. I thought it meant like, " We came into this secretly and stealthily, so no one would know what was going on behind the scenes, and thats how it goes on forever.Tony's life doesnt stop because there is no camera following him. The story DOESNT end, and thats what made it great."

56. Is Tony really dead?
"Spranos" is the biggest hit HBO ever got. It's their goose with the golden eggs. I'm not suprise it will return, if other shows fail to make $$$$.

58. Great series, great ending! Chase is a brilliant storyteller and he owes us nothing! I have had seven years of a saga that is as good as TV gets--this is our very own Shakespeare, and that's not hype.

If you want to gripe at a producer, go give some grief to that idiot David Milch, who cashed in Deadwood to do a lame series about a surfer.

59. The guy at the counter was not Nikki Leotardo. Nobody in the diner was ever in any previous episode. They were random people, but it was obviously intended to be ominous.

Really I am fine with all the loose ends, but the jarring mid-scene ending was too much. I thought my tivo failed. If they had Meadow walk in and sat down and THEN ended it abruptly, I would have been less annoyed. Chase seems to deny that Tony was shot at that moment, but it sure was set up to have a choose-your-own-adventure kind of ending.

60. Good grief...those folk need to get LIVES! It's only a TV show, for God's sake!
