BET Awards -- The White Elephant in the Room

Hang on tight -- its about to get racial up in here. TMZ has learned that 2007 could be the first year that a white musician wins a Black Entertainment Television Award ... besides Michael Jackson.
Robin Thicke, BET Awards
Platinum-selling superstar Robin Thicke has been nominated for two BET Awards: Best Male R&B Artist, and his song "Lost Without You" is up for a Viewer's Choice Award. Only two other white artists have ever even been nominated for a BET Award -- Justin Timberlake and Eminem -- but neither of them took home the prize. Could Robin break down the BET color barrier?!

The competition is thick; Thicke is up against Akon, John Legend, Gerald Levert, and Ne-Yo for Best Male, and competing with Beyonce, Birdman & Lil' Wayne, Bow Wow featuring Chris Brown, Ciara and UNK for the Viewer's Choice.

The BET Awards will be live from The Shrine in Los Angeles, Tuesday, June 26.

76. To #76 (Megrai) You are an idiot. I watched MTV many years ago, before BET and they played Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Gap Band, Kool & The Gand, etc (of which I am fans of all) and I am a white female. What is it you are referring to?

77. Yes he will win, because his music is good. I went to his show in Columbus, Ohio and it was full of black people and a few white people. A white girl stopped me and asked me "where are all the white people." I told her he sing good R&B music, so black people will welcome him to the BET awards. BET is for all people, but if we don't have our own TV stations that shows positive things going on in the Black communities. If it wasn't for Black people, America would not be America. Get some respect to the Salves, Buffalo Soldiers and all Black people in America. Peace Out!

WHITE PEOPLE ARE THE BIGGEST HATERS IN THE WORLD

82. Back and forth, back and forth. Its racist, its not racist, its racist, its not racist. Sorry, but it is racist. White people not including black people in the world of awards for so long is NOT an excuse to still supports seperatists. You might as well say "Yeah, you racist white people are right! We need to be seperated".

As for so many channels with white people, or seemingly white people on it, is also due to the fact that the population of white people surpasses the population of black people. In the next few decades, more and more people will mix, and all this nonsense of Black vs. White can end.

Plain and simple, 95% of ALL commercial music is crap now anyways. Most of these so-called artists shouldn't even be nominated. Oh for the days of real music to return!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

83. Reply to "themomma" and all of the ignorant idiots who agree with her post dated 6/14/07

Anyone who refers to the African-American community as "the blacks" is more racist than the BET Awards could ever dream of being. Please don’t forget that the need for a black entertainment awards show was born out of the bigotry of mainstream awards shows and their exclusion of minority performers. I suggest you pray for clarity before posting anything else.

84. BET was started because White people would hardly show Black folks on their stations. so we had to start our own station. And white people's videos have been shown on BET since it started. If you don't want a BET then white folks shouldn't have been racist.
WHITE PEOPLE HATE BEYONCE BEYONCE BECAUSE SHE WON'T GET NAKED THAT'S HOW WHITE PEOPLE GET FAME
