91. why is it so bad to have a channel dedicated to african americans.
its no different then the cartoon network which is geared towards kids,
or the cmt which airs only country music.

92. I love Mo'Nique and I can't wait to watch the BET awards! Most of you people on here are racists and jumped at a chance to sneer black people. Everyone knows that the Grammy's, Emmy's, etc. are geared toward white people. Hell, Halley Berry, who is ONLY half black, is the first "black" woman to win an Oscar!!! Black men and women have been snubbed by these award shows for years. So, go jump on that bandwagon and tell white people how unfair it is.

BET shows us how it should be done and that is to embrace your own and welcome others. It's not about color, it's about a commond ground.

94. Halle Berry CAN ACT MORON. How many black entertainers do you know that can act compared to the white actors. I can think of a few but not as many. Think about the ratio before you write about something that makes you appear uneducated.

95. i think, we evaluate music and movies, and CULTURE differently, which is why we have channels like BET. We need commercials that cater to hair products that blacks use, and other products that APPEAL to blacks, whereas, all the other 600 channels that are there, i find it amusing when people complain about ONE channel that appeals to black people. Nobody complains about Univision that latin all spanish channel do they?

that said, i think we are approaching a time where it seems that whts listen to black music but blacks won't listen to white music, that's the double standard, that we think we're too good to enjoy some of their stuff.

97. In response to #97 Actually, Black people have to act that much better than whites because it's harder for Blacks to break into the entertainment industry than white people due to racism. Actors such as Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Morgan Freeman, Lynn Whitfield etc. Are all impeccable at their work because they have to be. There is no Black equivalent to Paris Hilton. It's a lot easier for whites to enter into Hollywood because they're white. Blacks don't have that same luxury. And more often than not, when they're given what appears to be that same "luxury." They're purposely made to look ignorant and foolish to further the white supremacy of this nation

100. Older Ones are remembering how it USED to be before Black, Latino, Asian, etc were seen or recognized on TV
Younger Ones are saying we know this but what about NOW why do we still have to listen to White this Black that and not just have the damn awards shows all inclusive.

Hattie McDaniel was the first Black to win an Oscar (supporting role) now there are all colors recognized in different awards shows.

Lets just have a movie awards, music awards and have the best win so we can fight over why the best are recognized and not the mediocre or awful just for trying.

105. To all of the ignorant people complaining of not having a "WET" channel or an "Ivory" magazine: you do have white entertainment television. It's called NBC, CBS, ABC and any other networks that don't have diverse programming. You also have multiple "IVORY" magazines called Elle, Cosmo.. etc. Too bad you can't open your eyes to see the flip side. I can bet that none of you have actually watched BET or read Ebony or Essence, so i truly don't understand your need to comment on the situation and how "racist" it is.
