Thousands Tell County -- What's the Deal with Paris?

A TMZ user fired off an e-mail to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, complaining re: Paris, "Money talks, regular folks stay locked up." Here's the response he got from the Sups:
LA County Seal, Paris Hilton
"Thank you for your note regarding Paris Hilton. We have received thousands of e-mails from members of the public on this matter. Please know that the Board of Supervisors shares your concerns and has asked Sheriff Lee Baca to make a public report next Tuesday, June 19. The Sheriff has been asked to provide the reasons for the premature release of Paris Hilton from the Sheriff's Century Regional Detention Facility, including the reasons for not placing her in an appropriate medical facility such as the jail ward of the LAC+USC Medical Center. As you may know, the Sheriff is an elected official, so the Board of Supervisors has limited authority over that department."

107. Read this:

And tell me that this was a typical DUI / Suspended License matter.

She received chance after chance, light penalty after light penalty, was given warning after warning, her lawyers were told...she was told repeatedly... she had to sign too...her friends were told...she just ignored it all and kept breaking the law and her court orders. She broke probation three times that were proven and endless other times she got away with it....It's NOT the same.

108. #103 The merits of YOUR arguments are ridiculous! YOU were the one defending Paris because you claimed no one knew what was in her heart when she made her racist, anti-gay, anti-Semetic remarks. I was merely pointing out that the same could be said for Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, Don Imus and Isaiah Washington. If you felt my remarks about her and their attitudes did not belong in this discussion, you should not have responded to them.

Bottom line is, how can people defend Paris and hold her up as some kind of hero when all she did was flaunt the law over and over, and speak in a despicable fashion about minorities? If that makes me angry, jealous...you fill in the blanks.... then so be it.

Please give me a reason to continue to post this link to your idol who has feet of clay.....

110. Lets be civilized and treat all our brothers and sisters, with dignity , even if they brake the law. Blacks, Browns, Yellows, Whites. we all have the same # of chromosomes and are susceptible of suffering and diseases . This is Christianity. Don't judge anybody if you don't want to be judged. Stop giving preaches , love your neighbor , love your enemy....

Lets change the prison system and make a minimum standard for treating all inmates .
no matter race or color they are.
Paris Hilton : you can start this movement

111. Hello All,

Thank you for your support. As you may know or not know, every posting that is supportive of getting paris out is really just her paid publicist's assistants posting repeatedly to make it look as if there are alot of people rallying behind her. Unfortunately, this is not true.

Our apologies for being self deserving, but well paid, lap monkeys.
carry on.

112. In a press conference on Friday, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca announced that the current policy for his Department is to jail nonviolent female offenders for approximately ten percent of their sentence. This directly contradicts the policy which Sheriff Baca and District Attorney Steve Cooley announced in November 2006.

In a press-release dated November 6, 2006, Sheriff Baca announced that the new policy of the department was to require all inmates to serve “at least 25 percent of their sentence before being eligible for release.”

That policy was suppose to be in effect at the end of 2006. Upon announcing the new policy District Attorney Cooley stated “I commend Sheriff Baca for implementing this new policy. This will assure that sentences imposed by the court will be carried out in a predictable and even-handed manner."

It appears however that Sheriff Baca is not following his own stated policy and is thus not imposing sentences of the court in a “predictable and even-handed manner.

113. You need to report that it was JESSICA ALBA who laid down the line to the Endeavor Talent Agency to either let Paris go or else Jessica would sign with another agency.

Also - GRAYDON CARTER was asked about whether he'd have Paris do an after-jail photo spread for VANITY FAIR. His comment: "I'd just as soon they keep her in there."

Believe me, Riley Martin, Paris Hilton is no idol of mine. She is simply being targeted and made an example for public theater as opposed to being treated equitably under the law and that is what troubles me. I don't think anyone deserves to be a victim of that.

As for your other points, I don't defend racism. I simply don't like to judge people, especially when I really don't know them or know the circumstances. Who are any of us to tear people apart. Don't we all have room for improvement ourselves? Just the way I am.

Anyway, just not really sure where all your anger is coming from. Sounds so personal.

116. The bitch was given the opportunity to come clean by paying a fine, go to Alcohol School and community work and she PISSED on the law. Then she comes into Court whenever she wants (late and because I'm Paris Hilton). She should be serving 6 months not 23 days. But in Tinseltown money talks and the Sheriff probably was offered an ilimitate vacation time at any Hilton Hotel for Paris special treatment. And how come noboby ever new about little Paris mental disease?. All of a sudden the bitch is a mental case, really. I guess that jumping and dancing on tables at discos, making sex tapes and bad movies (The House of Wax, uh...) is a sign of mental illness, really. Give me a break. Maybe she should be moving to another country like in Africa or something.

118. So if they are serving 25% then Paris should be out now???

119. I think they did the right thing by throwing her back in a regular cell just like the rest. While I do feel she should be separated from the general population for safety reasons, regarding her "fame" I also believe she needs to serve like the rest of the population.
:Lee Baca is full of caca!!!

120. As far as Paris getting out earlier like the rest of the pop. makes no sense because she gets to stay in a cell by herself and is therefore much safer than the general pop. so that is the catch for Paris. Stay longer than the usual but be safer than the usual.
