Was Paris a Victim of "The Nancy Grace Effect"?

CNN Headline News anchor Nancy Grace has been one of the harshest critics of Sheriff Lee Baca's handling of Paris Hilton, but did she have a hand in getting Paris transferred last night?

Grace slammed Hilton and her "medical condition" on her June 12 show, saying, "I want to find out how attention deficit disorder, mild and very recent depression, dry skin and a bout of claustrophobia can land you in a privileged unit reserved for the acutely medically ill. I don't understand that."

Today, TMZ asked Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore if Grace or any other person in the media had anything to do with the Sheriff's decision. Whitmore told us, "No. The Sheriff, after he gets consultation and receives the best information available, makes the decision."

Hard to blame him if it did though -- Grace can be kind of scary.

287. TMZ: please delete post #46. Racism and hate do not belong here. Protect your readers from this.

288. Nancy Grace reminds me of the worst kind of Southern woman - a self-righteous bitch who spends her time making other people's lives miserable with her prying and gossiping. I know those traits aren't limited by geography, but she reminds me of a bored housewife living in a rural area who is taking her role as the choir director a little too seriously. Just painful to watch. Calm down lady, before you have a heart attack.

P.S. Yes, I grew up in the South and have dealt with her type before.

289. I agree with poster #280, bigjim, that she has no true empathy for the "victims" she has on her show. Just the other day I saw a video of Elizabeth Smart shutting her down when Nancy continued to ask for details about what had happened to her. Poor Elizabeth literally had to call her out for being rude before she would relent. It's like she had to smack her over the head to bring her back to earth.

Either link takes you to the same video of the dis-grace. And now that I hear about her fiance being murdered, it all makes a lot more sense. She's on a rampage because her wedding was ruined. That's sad, but aren't we supposed to move towards forgiveness? At least John Walsh did something productive with his tragedy.

290. I find Nancy Grace to be very good on some subjects and totaly over the top on others. The Paris Hilton case is one that Nancy has wrong. Nancy should be screaming about the failure to treat Paris as well as 60% of those before her that were released within 4 days or less. Nancy needs to remember that while Paris sits there taking up space and a bed someone that assulted an inocent victim is probably being released early or a drug dealer may be released early. Will Nancy still think Paris should stay in jail if one of the inmates convicted of assult, gets out early instead of Paris and then assults another victim? Or sells drugs to our young kids? Both situations are far worse than allowing Paris to be treated the same as those before her which would have meant Paris should have been released within 4 days. Nancy, like lawyers in a court room fighting a case, always uses whatever she can to back her point even when what she is using to back her point is misleading at best. If you need to confuse the jury to win your case, most lawyers will. Example: Nancy and a regular co=host on the Paris issue continue to claim Paris was convicted and sentenced for several probation violations. Of course Nancy knows that she is misleading the public on this because she is well aware that Paris was sentenced for driving once on the suspended license while not drunk. Yes there was talk about it not being the first time she was caught driving on the suspended license. Paris just like the rest of us can not be asked to defend or be sentenced for something she was not charged with. I wonder how many times Nancy has been let go when stopped for speeding? Most women have escaped a speeding ticket or two.

Nancy needs to remember, Injustice for one is injustice for all!!!!!

291. Nancy DOES have emathy for her guests, Every show she has done about Paris, she has show photos of children who have been killed by drunk drivers so when one of the lawyers says "what she does really wasn't that bad" the can look at the photos. There has also been a man on a few times whose baby son was killed by a drunk driver. Try telling these people drunk driving isn't a big deal!

292. Paris suffers from being spoiled and pampered. Those are her only ailments. And she is not suffering anything in jail but anger that she didn't get her way about staying at home. She suffered a tantrum, not a breakdown. She is not ill. And she is not suffering in jail. They have her in a more comfortable place than the other inmates who don't have her money and fame.

293. I don't know who Nancy Grace is, I don't keep up a lot with all this. But I will say one thing, whether she is right or wrong about the Paris Hilton situation, she is one very ugly bitch. Somebody enlighten me as to who she is?

294. after reading No. 242 -- so this Nancy Grace is guilty of murder, causing a girl to commit suicide? I don't watch tv except for Law and Order SVU so I didn' t know who she is, I just said she's ugly in my last post. But from all I'm reading, somebody ought to file charges against Nancy Grace and put her in jail. She is more harmful than Paris Hilton.

295. Nancy Grace is carrying some heavy baggage. She is obviously bitterly unhappy and has no self esteem and thus has to hurt other people to make herself feel better. People like her are a danger to society. She should not be allowed have the power to harm other people, but should be fired, and she should be sued for causing a death. Paris Hilton is spoiled and pampered and a brat, and she might deserve to be in jail a while, but this Grace woman is despicable.

296. Boo hoo, poor Nancy Grace. She lost a loved one and that justifies her destorying other people's lives? No it does not. She needs to get over it and stop using her bitterness and hatred to harm others. She has already killed a woman with her vindictive ugliness. She is near being mentally unhinged. She could conduct her crusades in a more humane manner if she wasn't so eaten up with her "poor me" syndrome.
