Angelina's Press Muzzle -- The Document

TMZ has obtained the now infamous letter that Angelina Jolie's reps sent out to the press in advance of interviews for "A Mighty Heart" -- and the range of demands is stunning.
Jolie stifles press: read the docs
To begin with, the document, sent from the office of attorney Robert Offer, demands that the interview be used only "to promote ["A Mighty Heart"]," and not "in connection with any other story." What's more, the letter tries to compel reporters not to use the interview " in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning or derogatory to Ms. Jolie," without specifying what that might mean. All this on top of no questions about "personal relationships," which presumably could mean any other human being on the face of the planet.

Yesterday, on "The Daily Show," Jolie disavowed the contract, which was first reported by FOX News, calling it "excessive," adding that it was her handlers, not she, who sent it out. USA Today and the AP, among other organizations, refused to sign the document.

16. That Jolie broad is not only a pompous ass, she's a proven liar. I pity those kids she's running around adopting--they'll all be seeing a psychiatrist before they hit adulthood. The woman is absolutely disgusting. The only thing more disgusting is that so many stupid people pay her attention, admire her. What trash!

17. Good for her! Otherwise the media would go nuts asking her anything and everything they want. She has class and should be respected for the woman that she is.

19. I see nothing wrong with keeping the interview on the movie.

20. #5 Angela.
Thank you for being straightforward and honest. You are absolutely right. At the times when a lot of ophans and misplaced children in US are suffering from " poor funding", abuse and many other horrible things this IDIOT goes to third world countries and adopts children there. I wonder if she would ever be granted adoption rights in US because her character leaves much to be desired. And this comes from a legal professional

21. She didn't write it her lawyer did. So what he was a little zealous in protecting her. AJ treats her fans good. She always stops for autographs and pics. Give her some slack.

22. I'm rather surprised and disappointed at Jolie. Gor a woman who tauts freedom of speech all the time. She sure is trying to muzzle it.

23. I love how everyone accepts her jump from lunatic to humanitarian.
It won't be long until she is unable to keep up the facade.

The chick is as nutty as a fruitcake.

24. So ridiculous! The only people annoyed with this document are media employees. Jolie simply wanted to promote the movie. She mentioned last night on Larry King that this was a low budget, independent film. She doesn't expect high ticket sales. She's trying to get the story of Daniel and Maryanne Pearl out. I personally don't plan to see it. I admit to being very desensitized by such a long, dragged out invasion of Iraq by...the media coverage. Daily reporting of unknown names and faces of those killed in Iraq and other areas of massive fighting around the world.
What happened to the Pearl family is certainly devastating. There's another side, though. Informed consent. Daniel knew the risks. So did David Bloom and other reporters/journalists, contractors and military. All have a choice but, the military.
Jolie is entitled to do her job and the media, theirs. It's refreshing to keep the content of interviews to its purpose, for a change. I think the Jolie-Pitt family is terrific but, I don't need to hear, see or read about it every day.
The media does get a lot of interesting reporting to us. They also don't know when to stop beating a dead horse. More Jolie-Pitt? Spears? Hilton? Enough!

25. Umm, TMZ get your story straight, the video of Jolie's Interview w/Jon Stewart she does not disavow knowledge, she said yes it was sent out by her reps and lawyer to protect her, she said it was voluntary and she she did not read it. Also, does the document say that it is from Angelina Jolie, no, it is from a lawyer that represents her. This was a lawyer that took it upon himself and even if it wasnt, she did not ban the press, she just wanted to promote the movie and not her personal life...so what good for her...TMZ you are pretty stupid for having the link to the video and then lying about it in this link.

26. WHO CARES?????? The movie is not about her life!!! She had every right to ask that the press not ask questions about her life! She didn't want to take attention away from the movie, WHAT THE HELL IS SHE APPOLOGIZING FOR?

TEAM ANGELINA!!!

27. she did the same thing to E! Online at a red carpet event in Los Angeles recently. She did the same thing in Namibia. She admitted it on her Larry King interview and now tries to say she didn't.
She said she was going to be a stay at home mom in order to adopt Pax, but hasn't been home since and has two more movies in the works. Remember her big interview when she was adopting him saying she was taking a year off so Pax could adjust? Obviously, just a lie she used to get what she wanted.
(and to make us think she's a saint)
So many other lies, over and over. The truth changes and bends to what suits her at the time.
Her credibility is shot - how can anyone believe anything she says?

28. She is a moron. Who cares about her anyway. Go save the world.

29. This action is just further proof of what a phony Angelina is -- She's just not smart enough to handle the "tough" questions, i.e. anything outside her little box of a world.

30. Ah, the "don't blame me, blame my people" defense. That one always works so well!

Normally, I'd agree that keeping the talk on the movie isn't such a big deal. However, since Brad has pretty much said they untilize the press to highlight their causes, I consider it really hypocritical to muzzle them. If you want to exploit the media, then you have to pay the price.
