Angelina's Press Muzzle -- The Document

TMZ has obtained the now infamous letter that Angelina Jolie's reps sent out to the press in advance of interviews for "A Mighty Heart" -- and the range of demands is stunning.
Jolie stifles press: read the docs
To begin with, the document, sent from the office of attorney Robert Offer, demands that the interview be used only "to promote ["A Mighty Heart"]," and not "in connection with any other story." What's more, the letter tries to compel reporters not to use the interview " in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning or derogatory to Ms. Jolie," without specifying what that might mean. All this on top of no questions about "personal relationships," which presumably could mean any other human being on the face of the planet.

Yesterday, on "The Daily Show," Jolie disavowed the contract, which was first reported by FOX News, calling it "excessive," adding that it was her handlers, not she, who sent it out. USA Today and the AP, among other organizations, refused to sign the document.

31. Val, post #18...Guess you have first hand knowledge of Angelina Jolie's thoughts and conversations with her lawyer, do you have proof she wanted to quash the press? By the by, they did not want to quash the press, she just wanted to limit their questions to the movie...big deal...Celebs do it everyday, even Barbara Walters has to agree to a list of questions, it is done everyday in every interview...For example the latest interviews with Princes Harry and Will, do you really think the press can just ask them anything...I would research how things really work before you go spouting off...

32. So sick and tired of people comdemming her for adopting from third world countries. F___ YOU ALL! Those kids have it wayyyy worse than American orphans. Want to blame someone: blame your government. LOOK OUTSIDE THE BOX IDIOTS.

- this is why the States is looked upon so poorly by other countries...it's all about me, me me...WTF???

33. Sure thing Glo -- why let reporters ever ask questions that don't have to do with pimping a movie, or selling a product, or selling a war. Stupid reporters wanting to ask tough, uncomfortable questions. Who do they think they are?

34. OK right, Angie, had nothing to do with this........right. This is no weak woman, SHE tells others in her employ what to do, no one else. No handler in the world would go against her and what she wants. End of story.

35. Whoopie!!!!!!!!! WHo cares this woman collects children as if they were Barbie dolls,(possesions not children ). Does she even stop to think that she can not possiably give them the attention they will need? No she just wants to look like a hero when instead looks like a fool.

Like anyone cares about her home life or personal life we seen enough of it to know the only way to keep her in the public eye is to grab another kid to take home with her.

37. I saw her on Larry King last night. If I took the time & effort to make a movie about a true story that I felt NEEDED to be told, I would ask the same thing. FOCUS ON THE DAMN MOVIE!!!

I see her run-in with dumba$$ Seacrest as a reason for this contract. He was such a freakin' moron when he asked Angelina & Brad personal questions of them when they were at the Oscars, trying to focus on Brad nomination for "Babel". Seems like some reporters step all over whatever project to "get the scoop".

Basically she is telling them...STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE! This is a real & true story that happened not all that long ago & she sees an importance in it. Why would she want to spend the time she allotted for promoting her movie only to have to answer endless questions about her & her family. She is PROMOTING HER MOVIE! It's not a free for all.

38. XXXXXXXX,

Um, tough and uncomfortable is not the point, what she does in her personal life is her business not the general public...do you think it is right that someone ask you what you do in your own time? It is none of the general publics damn business. If she wants people to know she says so, if not...too bad...go get your own life

41. Sarah, XXXXXX, Candice, Val and all you other people, you talk as if you have first had knowledge of Jolie...Sarah, do you really know that she can not possibly give her kids the time they need...Maybe you should read the latest People Magazine that has a story about a couple from Arkansas that is having their 17th child...all natural, no adoptions and 2 sets of twins...maybe you want to tell that woman and her husband that they collect kids like barbies and could not possibly give them what they need...STUPID PEOPLE

42. Well, BIG DEAL!! She doesnt want to talk about anything other then the movie she is promoting. What is wrong with that? GOOD FOR HER , for keeping her private life private. Geez. The media can take anything and make a mole hill into a mountain. Wow, Then TMZ takes the time to even put it down on paper. Who cares. She has a right to a private life.

43. I've always been on AJ's side, and I think I always will be. She is a very strong woman, and I truly admire her. As far as the media thing goes: Why would she want to pend the whole time answering questions about herself when she is trying to promote her movie? Why is this such a big deal?

44. It really makes me laugh that everyone cries for freedom of the press and all that stuff okay fine...but um, do we really need to watch war on TV as it happens, do we really need to know who is sleeping with who, do we really need to hear about every murder, kidnap and rape...Have any of you ever seen the movie Bowling for Colombine? Know I am not a Mike Meyers (sp?) fan, but he hit the nail on the head...Part of the problem in USA society is not the video games or the music, it is the news...Watch it for yourselves, it really was eye opening...

45. Angelina is quite the hypocrite. She was bragging on the red carpet about her dress only costing $15 bucks, but even that is a load of BS. Here is the story: http://collegecandy.com/style/3536 Its totally worth checking out.
