They claim the mom is abusive and the dad is a drunk.

So my question is this "Why do the courts and Family services take kids away from their parents but not these people???"

77. #84- Kristi ...their assets alone are worth more than the state's foster home/protective services agency budget...less privileged kids caught in same situation could use the $$ resources that'd be taken up by the Hoffs' kids.

Plus, they're both almost 18 & adults. Think for a moment, please !! The damage has been done with those 2 anyway...they'll get the help they need privately without using up scarce public social services !!! Or, become just like Lohan, Spears, Ritchie, or Hiltons.

poor hoff kids...i think not so much. $$$ has a way of smoothing things out...then there's the guilt trip they can lay on the parents.

78. Obviously, there was evidence that the public didn't see. The video is just one moment, perhaps there were others, but the judge didn't agree that he was the unfit parent.
Parents aren't perfect, but he was willing to admit to his problem--displaying honesty and he is willing to accept help and a chance to improve.
The mother was not honest, only claimed she was not doing drugs, but refused to provide the necessary evidence. That displays a lot about her character.

It takes a lot to admit you have issues to overcome, but it's much more frightening when a parent will not stand up for what is right for the children and seek the help they need.
It's not something to be ashamed of, it doesn't make you crazy--it's the people that won't seek help when they need it that are crazy...

It's possible. I mean he saw and heard about what was happening at Mom's all the time. The drugs, the press releases on him, the complaints from his daughters. Very stressful and frustrating and with little or no help from the authorities.

As with Paris, time will tell. I get a better vibe from Hoff than for Hilton.

85. Thank God these two girls are getting closer to emancipation. The oldest is 16, so two more years and she can be on her own. The other has a ways to go, but maybe once the oldest is of age, the youngest can move in with her.

I think the best thing for these kids is to get as far away from BOTH parents as they can.

Earth to celebs: when a nasty c*&* of a lawyer agrees to take your case for free, just for the publicity, that means she probably sucks as a lawyer. 87. I don't know either parties. But after seeing the video and the interaction with Hoff and daughter, He never showed anger or disrespect to her. To me he's a lovable drunk. I congratulate the judge for giving the better parent full custody of his daughters. Lets hope and pray that he puts his daughters first and don't take another drink.
As for Opri, she got what she deserves, I wish for her not the best.
