47. In fact many--I'd venture to say all--reputable rehabs allow clients out to conduct business as long as they're with a trusted staff member. You can't just make crap up, either. There'a an agenda for the time away; there is accountability and consequences. Trust me, I've been there, and I ain't Miss Lohan.

If you follow the rules, you may also attend church off-site, and 12-step meetings off-site.

I detoxed my hardcore alcoholic, prescription-drug-abusing 50-yr-old boyfriend
13 times at home (for at least a week per time) over 4 year period; sent him to hospital detox programs 4 times, once for alcohol and 3 times over 6 month period for prescription drugs.
his "Dr. Feelgoods" who supplied him for the first few YEARS of an 8 year period got busted by the DEA & sentenced in federal court..after that, he used 7 different docs for duplicate prescriptions & 9 pharmacies, & continued to periodically relapse with alcohol.

the only person he had in his life was me who 1. wasn't F-U'd like him & unable to help 2. willing to help. His brother is a shrink with EXPERTISE IN ALCOHOLISM, with papers published on the subject - that same brother's wife is his coworker & fellow author on some of the papers. They NEVER told me of his deep problem (before I got involved), NEVER visited him, NEVER helped me out with him, NOT ONCE. I could name them but I won't.

yeah, i've got 'street cred' with regard to the biz of rehab, from an objective point of view.

don't judge anyone else yourself.

Promises is KNOWN for being a rehab SPA. Now, if she went to UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, she might get some real help & get some respect in the process. But not for anyone going to Promises.

Sorry, but you ought to know better, about places like 'promises'.

50. the way it goes usually in 99.9% of rehabs is you EARN day passes. so if she has been good, showing progress, ect, she can go on a day pass if she earned it.

she's just like the rest of the entertainment industry people & bystanders.

run-of-the-mill. starting out this young with so much substance-abuse and
behavior issues shows her problems are deep, are lifestyle-based, and are likely
to continue lifelong. think of all the other adults in aa that got their start as teens and
have taken a lifetime to recover. she's a poster child for her industry. maybe they're the
only ones who can help her out longterm...she doesn't fit in elsewhere.
