Celebrity Auctions
Elvis' Drugs For Sale

The King may have left the building but his prescription pills are still here: A bottle that contained Elvis Presley's prescription antihistamines was sold this week at an auction for more than $2,600. That's a mighty expensive prescription plan! While the bottle still contained some of The King's original pills, L.A. County police told auction house Julien's that it would be a federal crime to sell the bottle with pills included.

Other unusual Hollywood ephemera sold during the auction included a gold-plated gun owned by the Elvis, which sold for more than $28,000; Alfred Hitchcock's passport, which went for more than $19,000; and a prop umbrella once used by Marilyn Monroe for $42,000. The umbrella will become part of the collection of the Museum of Style Icons in County Kildare, Ireland.

17. HAVING A SYMBOL OF YOUR FAVORITE ENTERTAINER IS GREAT FOR THE FANS. THAT SAID HAVING A REMEMBRANCE OF AN ADDICTION THAT CAUSED HIS DEATH IS SOMETHING ELSE.MAYBE IM WRONG . WHAT DO YOU THINK?

18. Elvis' name will forever be tarnished by the way drugs influenced his life. I can't think of anything lower-class than selling a bottle of medication with his name on it. Well, except to buy it. It's a shame he is not remembered more for his contribution to rock-n-roll, his generousity and his humble rise to fame, rather than the way his life spiraled out of control and his ultimate death. I would love to have a momento of Elvis, but if my only option was a bottle of his pills put up for auction, I would do without.

21. Isn't it about time some press commentator did an expose on Elvis's Las Vegas act, and tell the public it was so rediculous and poor entertainment value that the audience started leaving in droves at about the half-way mark. Elvis's voice sounded great on records but the greatness was added in by recording wizardry. There's much better entertainers to worship.
