Motley Crue Sues: Our Managers F'ed Us!

Legendary hard rockers Motley Crue have filed a $20 million lawsuit against one of their managers, claiming "greed," "extortionist tactics" and terrible career advice caused the band to lose millions of dollars in profits and tarnished the band's stellar reputation.

In the lawsuit, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the four founding members of the band (Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee) through Motley Crue Inc., claim manager Carl Stubner and Sanctuary Management Group gave them bad business advice and attempted to "divert revenue from [the band] and redirect it to themselves.

Furthermore, the suit claims, Stubner forced Tommy Lee to "to become engaged in 'reality' projects that were bad career moves for Lee, harming [Sixx, Mars, Neil and Lee], the Motley Crue brand and Lee's own image." The suit calls the low-rated NBC show "Tommy Lee Goes to College" a "critical disappointment and a ratings disaster," adding it painted Lee as "incoherent, lazy and incompetent" and made him "look like a laughing stock who could not carry a drum beat." The suit also claims Lee's participation on "Rock Star: Supernova" "diminished the public's interest in Lee and their overall perception of his musical talents."

Because Lee was so busy doing reality TV, the band says he was unavailable to tour with the Crue, thus causing the cancellation of several key concert dates. The band claims that they lost $8 million in ticket and merchandise revenue because of Lee's scheduling conflicts. These conflicts, the band says, were "both real and concocted" by Stubner to "leverage his control over Lee to his financial advantage and to Motley Crue and Lee's detriment."

A call to Sanctuary was not immediately returned.

UPDATE: Tommy Lee's lawyer Barbara Berkowitz tells TMZ that her client isn't involved in the case. In an email, Berkowitz writes, " Mr. Lee was neither consulted regarding this matter nor authorized the lawsuit. Mr. Lee has not made any allegations against his current personal manager. Mr. Lee feels fortunate to have been part of the Motley Reunion tour, as well as other opportunities outside of Motley Crue over the past several years. It is unfortunate that others believe that they all could have made more money had Mr. Lee exclusively participated in the band that he co-founded in 1980. "

17. Tommy goes to college was the best!!! I tivo'ed every tuesday and could not wait to watch it! I thought it made tommy look like a real good guy and a really big heart, instead of the trash the tabs portray him to be.

18. Im sorry to sound mean. But what in the heck does number #1's post have to do with the Motley Crue band? Nothing. In fact, what does that post have to do with crap in an intelligent world? Unless it is a joke. If someone has nothing better to do than wait for paris to get out of jail and grace the clubs, that person has so little to do in life it is pathetic. Ambassador, my butt. Morris the cat would make a better ambassador for our country than Paris Hilton.

20. I don't like Motley Crue, too 80's for my taste, but thought the college reality show was fantastic! He wasn't an idiot.....surprisingly, and he was incredibly nice to the kid he roomed with and his tutor! I also think Supernova is entertaining aside form the narcissistic Dave Navarro.....he's the one who should be suing, not Tommy!

24. To #12-Yes you only wish you had the money and fame these so called 'old fools" have. You sound like a young goofball who has no respect for the fact that these "old" musicians have been around for years and are proven artists with numerous hits., you are the who needs to give it up,Your idea of having fun when you get older will probably be to play chess or go to a nursing hime, THese artists are admirable in showing that age doesnt have to slow anyone down.

25. WHATEVER - these douchbags have ALWAYS been over-rated hacks, drug addicts, and prostitues. They had some of their biggest hits by literally butchering cover songs. Tommy Lee is a 40 something year old child that probably still sits around and lights his own farts - he's a drug addict, imbecile, only knows one or two basic drum beats, is a convicted wife beater, gives his hep C away to everyone (and god knows what else), and LET A KID DROWN IN HIS SWIMMING POOL WHILE HE WAS DOING LINES WITH THE OTHER PARENTS INSIDE THE HOUSE! - for which he should be in jail for murder. Same with that fat slob Vince Neil that killed another musician in a car wreck that was his fault.

The people that think the Crue rules are the same people that still think Bush is a great president. I say put Motley Crue back on tour and let one of these turds fly the plane - then we'll fianlly be rid of these disgusting, diseased, untalented losers.

If they win this lawsuit, I'll be totally convinced that the LA legal system is broken beyond repair. These guys are just a bunch of retards that have no grounds for this lawsuit whatsoever.

26. Boo Hoo!! They wasted all their money on drugs and boos and now after all these years they are looking to replenish their funds. Washed up, has beens & losers!! Back to the surreal life!!

27. What a pathetic lawsuit.

I find it hard to believe that Tommy Lee was forced to do reality tv. How old is he?

Sounds like they need money and need to blame someone.

28. These guys used to have it... they stopped making music and now they are blaming everyone for their problems. Vince's face lift/makeover was a joke. I personally enjoyed Tommys goes to college and wondered waht happened to it. Nikki and Mick.... DUDES... start writing some music we can enjoy again. these guys were bad ass, its like they let their egos get ahead and blew it. OK fire the managers, hire new one and show us you still got it.

29. Uh, has no one head of the "Motley Cruise", the ultimate bastardization of a band brand. How can it get any lower than that? Also, Vince Neil's plastic surgery makevover show was beyond embarassing. Why are these far more detrimental projects overlooked? By the way, Rock Star Supernova was awesome and Tommy came off nicely. This suit sounds personal, there have been so many other silly s*it projects from these dudes. Does Nikki Sixx need to pay for his divorce from that fox Donna D'Eriko?
