Isaiah: There's No Way I'm Homophobic

Isaiah Washington talks about his experiences working with gays and lesbians as if they aren't commonplace in Hollywood. And water is not wet, and the sky is not blue.

During an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Washington pointed out that he was once hired by a lesbian, saying, "I've been working with lesbian and gay [sic] for 21 years in this business. In New York, my first job was given to me by ... an African American lesbian."

Isaiah says he gets along splendidly with people of all sexual orientations. He told the Chronicle, "My whole existence has co-existed evenly and beautifully with individuals who happen to be gay." Well, except for that whole T.R. Knight thing.

31. Hey TMZ:

What comment is your favorite blogger"The Truth hurts/Spindizzy" refering to? My latest comment seems to have magically disappeared. I guess my comment did not meet with editorial approval. I wonder why? Maybe it was not gay friendly enough. LOL

34. To 27 The Truth Hurts:

Its ironic that your alias is “The Truth Hurts” in that when the truth is given to you, you won’t believe it. You believe your own myths about yourselves, and don’t know what your talking about regarding anyone else. Its the same-oh-same oh. You insist that white is right and anything that deviants from that is ignorance. Your a sick bastard and you need a reality check.

35. Lucille - talk about ignorant - I'm not white. So your myth is to be called a reality? Talk about needing a reality check. Again, you can't stand truth. Grow up. Talking to you is like talking to a wall - you hear the echo of your own voice and love it. Your “realities” (I’ll tickle your ear) is a waste of people’s time and energy.

37. To 37 The Truth Hurts:

Yeah right, I don’t care what you claim to be White, Black or Purple, you’re an Oreo through and through. Your correct, you are wasting your time, as your argument is foolish, and obviously your dim-witted too. Apparently for you, “The Truth Really Does Hurt.”

38. Being of a group that so commonly claims being discriminated againist. You would think that he would be more open minded and excepting. HUMM.. guess CARMA is okay as long as shes not sleeping in your bed.

39. Lucille - seems to me the only one arguing is you. You are unable to converse in an adult manner when faced with challenging subjects. Instead your language is to speak garbage: "yeah right ,whatever, you sick bastard, oreo". What is your point? Seems to me you only prove to be that which you are, childish, immature and unable to adapt to real life and adult conversation. Again, you are a disgrace to those whom you represent and as in the case of R44 your point is lost, if even made because you lack intellect, respect for others and wisdom. Go find a place to grow up a little. You may prove to be an asset to yourself and others some day. I'm done with you. You are a waste of time, I pity your parents.

40. This guy is a joke - I almost feel sorry for him. Be quiet already IW - it's time to quit your whining and get some self-respect, respect others, quit being a big baby and get a job!

41. I am one who is " mad as hell" about this! It was initially reported that this was simply a dust up fight between Isaiah and Patrick Dempsey ( I think that Isaiah might have been a bit jealous of all of the attention that Dempsey gets, as opposed to the rest of the cast). T.R. discovered that his cover was blown and decided to become a cry baby about it. I agree that if Isaiah is canned, T.R. should go also. Anyway, I NEVER could buy his romantic scenes with the ladies........even before he was outed. Regardless, I fear that Grey's will become a bit grayer in the future and will lose it's shine.

42. I am sure that Shonda Rhimes ( the Grey's creator) hated to fire Washington, but some of her bosses are people at ABC who are trying to push the gay agenda on the populace. Isaiah should realize that he can't win with these people. Isaiah, invest your money and stop apologizing. Mel Gibson simply stopped apologizing and moved on.....you should do the same.

Posted at 8:51PM on Jun 23rd 2007 by Prettdee

43. If someone on that show had called Mr. Washington a n_____ I bet he'd have no problem with them being canned. No apology compensates for hateful, derogatory slurs. Calling someone a f____ is no different. There has to be a no tolerance policy for words and deeds of hate and prejudice, no exceptions.

44. What a cry baby! He should just let it go, go pick up a crack pipe and fade off into oblivion.

45. The "incident" was starting to get less and less coverage when Isaiah pulled that stunt @ the Golden Globes. He literally shot himself in the foot. Did he get a fair shake by getting fired? It is not for me to judge. It seems that in this day and age, anyone can get "canned" for making a controversial remark.

I do not agree with what he said, just as I do not condone anyone who makes a racial slur. Whether a person is white, black or purple---it is not right. The problem with today's society is that some people are punished and some get away with it. That, to me, is unfair.
