Isaiah: There's No Way I'm Homophobic

Isaiah Washington talks about his experiences working with gays and lesbians as if they aren't commonplace in Hollywood. And water is not wet, and the sky is not blue.

During an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Washington pointed out that he was once hired by a lesbian, saying, "I've been working with lesbian and gay [sic] for 21 years in this business. In New York, my first job was given to me by ... an African American lesbian."

Isaiah says he gets along splendidly with people of all sexual orientations. He told the Chronicle, "My whole existence has co-existed evenly and beautifully with individuals who happen to be gay." Well, except for that whole T.R. Knight thing.

46. Plain and Simple.....Isaiah equal LOSER!!!
Grey's will be better without him, TR doesn't need someone like him in his life....and we can all breathe better knowing someone got what they deserved.....no thanks to PARIS!!!

47. I feel the press has overblown this whole thing, I don't watch Grey's Anatomy but I think that this subject just goes on and on for nothing. Well, for pointless news. I hope this guy goes on with his life and has some better opportunities than he had on Grey's Anatomy. Having to work with a gay dude with victim 'tude, is not cool. better things ahead for Isaiah.

So, he said a straight guy is gay-wow, Does anyone believe this is the only guy in the US calling lame things gay??? The gays better get out in the world and find out that this is a term used by men when they want to say something else is weak. Isaiah didn't make it up and he won't be the last to call someone gay-as in weak. Just like calling a woman a bitch, is also wrong but it is done. People are always going to say something that pisses off another group.

48. Did you happen to notice that DIRECTLY AFTER the whole incident with TR Knight, that he immediately got much more air-time? I mean....George got married to a hot babe...and George's dad had a big surgery and George suddenly was wanted by the blonde babe and cheated on his new wife and George failed his boards. Wow..all this story line for one seriously wimpy guy that honestly...not one girl gave two craps about in the previous season. He couldn't even BUY a date last season. But now, WOW.... Makes you wonder if this whole thing MADE him more popular. Seems to me a calculated move, JUST as IW said it was.

Do I think IW has a big mouth. Yep. Do I think TR Knight played on it. YOU BET.

49. OMG stop already IW most of the nation already thinks you are a bigot and a big crybaby loser, what are you trying to do convince the rest?

Who the hell do you think you are to say that the wrong person got fired? I think the right person got fired since it is common knowledge that you have been disruptive and a jerk around the set and most of the cast could not even stand working with you or being around you.

I think you should have been fired immediately, but I understand that you cannot just rewrite a series that is already planned out. So consider yourself lucky you got to finish out the season and SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY!!!!!!

50. IW had to pay the piper just the way Imus did. I wonder why I didn't hear Rev Sharpton and Jesse Jackson at the podium asking for IW's head on a silver platter in the same manner in which they demanded of Imus. What a bunch of self-serving hypocrites.

51. "Having to work with a gay dude with victim 'tude, is not cool....."

Please, you have this backwards or both are about the same. Gays may have 'tudes', but so did IW - a huge chip on his shoulder - and being black gives him the reasons for having a 'tude" and making himself high maintenance as well as in his mind justified in conducting himself in this manner. Well were is his "tude" and high maintenance self now - - - - unemployed. I think all of America is sick of the excuses of people who conduct themselves in an inappropriate manner, "oh it's because I'm black....they are homophobic....." blah, blah blah. Perhaps the answer is not as challenging as one makes it out to be. People can be just complete jerks because they are inadequate and insecure within themselves to live their lives out ethically, professionally and considerately so.

52. "he can't win with these people"

It's not about winnng - it's about being politically and socially correct. Yes, he should move on, but he should know he cannot make these comments. To say he cannot win with these people - well then I guess you can say we can't win with the black african community? I think now. Certainly your remark is a tad ignorant.

53. It's good to see that most comments are in the reality of it all. IW - indeed needs to re-evaulate himself - only then can he do some good for himself and be an example to the community.

54. It’s funny because you guys never ever listened to the problem in the first place. When the news story broke out about Washington, it had everything to do with a “tiff” on Grey’s set. It had NOTHING to do with Knight; only Washington and Dempsey. Washington clearly did not call Knight the f word. He called Dempsey that word out of anger; not as a homophobic slur. So now the guy is getting punished for being a gay basher when he isn’t one. Geez, he even played a gay man in a past movie role. Hell, GAYS are petitioning to get Washington back on Grey’s because THEY know he wasn’t gay bashing. A GLAAD member even spoke out about how Washington has done more for gays than Knight has ever done pre and post announcement of coming out of the closet.

Knight pulled a b**ch move. He knew he was the weakest character on the show. He pulled a grimy move and used the Washington/Dempsey tiff as a way to get the world on his side. Did any of you grey’s fans ever notice Knight had minimal roles on the show up until the Washington/Dempsey tiff? Right after it Knight was suddenly this stud that slept with every hot chick in the hospital, has some big breakdown about his father, and oh no he failed his intern test!

People are starting to see right through Knight. And the fact that he even had the nerve to compare his situation to Ellen’s HUGE career strides for gays and lesbians is pure BS. Knight should be kicked out on his butt. Knight knew a black guy would be crucified for any little mistake and he’d come out looking like the poor innocent victim. He cashed in on it. I hope ABC is happy.

And no, I am not black.

55. Sabrina;

Right on point. This was a made up controversy used by a subgroup (gays) to promote theit agenda using a currently hot show. IW was a mere patsy for this group and TR Knight was their butt boy.

56. Sabrina and Rastaman 44 - please talk about obvious - you are one in the same person I'm sure - pushing the same boring "idea" - and trying to complicate a simple truth - IW needs to own up to his remarks. No matter how you spin it - no one should make racist remarks about another person. I can spin the same BS about Imus and still - you gotta call truth. He shouldn't have said what he said. Should he have lost his job? No, should IW has lost his job? Not necessarily - however there seem to be quite a bit of drama where IW is concerned (and at his own doing - his big fat mouth) so even if one was to accept your "explanation" as it were - his big mouth just did him in. He should have shut up, gottten along and we would be seeing him on Grey's in the fall.

57. I have worked with the man....frankly, he is a diva......nasty to guest stars arrogant and rude.....and if I called him the N word- think I would have stayed on the show?
Grow some balls Isaiah and grow up- GET RIDE OF THE CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER.

58. Get Real:

The difference betwen IW and Imus:

Imus had a long history of making such comments, while IW does not have such a history. That is the reason why their cases are dissimilar.

59. RASTAMAN44: You miss the forest for the trees - get over yourself. Take a look at #58 comments:

Hello - he's also been in some trouble - it's just not made public. You just don't want to admit that this man is a racist - Go away now - your rants are definitely boring....yawn........
