Moore Pleads No Contest -- He Ain't No Hilton

Shemar Moore has just copped a plea, the same morning he was charged with three criminal misdemeanors.

TMZ has learned that shortly after the L.A. City Attorney filed the charges, Moore's super lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, entered the very courtroom where Paris Hilton was nailed. Chapman Holley appeared before Judge Michael Sauer and entered a no-contest plea to Exhibition of Speed. The two DUI charges were dismissed.

As for sentencing, Moore did a hell of a lot better than Hilton. He was given 36 months probation and fined around $1400. He was also ordered to do community service.

47. Shemar - please learn from this, do your community service and hand the keys over to someone else who isn't impaired the next time you are in that condition. You don't need
a lost life caused by you to haunt you the rest of your life. My father was killed by a drunk driver in 1959 when I was 7; my son was killed in 1990 by a drunk driver - he was only 16; my daughter was left with a traumatic brain injury and permantly disabled from a driver that had a suspended license from a previous dui. My daughter was 27 at the time (this was just 3 years ago) the driver was 24. These were my only 2 children. People don't think that these things will happen to them---it can and does. I am proof of that and more (my 4 yr old granddaughter was murdered by her father 12 days ago in a murder/suicide--so life as I know it has been filled with tragedy---wouldn't wish it on anyone). So please, please be careful. You have looks (my daughter even in her current state will say he's CUTE!), talent and more to offer than having your name plastered on the internet with negatives. Learn from what has happened, move beyond it and be the best person you can be. If you have time to spare, volunteer and educate young people about the hazards of drinking and driving. It'll make your heart feel good...to do good. Peace.

48. Paris violated probation. Shemar wasn't on probation. Will TMZ ever get it?

49. It's good that Moore owned up to his mistake (although pleading no contest is not the same thing as pleading guilty), but if anything, I think the Exhibition of Speed charge should have been dropped instead of the two counts of DUI. Speeding and drunk driving are both dangerous, but the latter even more so. And drunk driving not once but TWICE? A LOT of people were put at risk, including himself, and thank God he didn't hurt anyone either time, but who's to say that he won't drink and drive again? Was he ordered to take the alcohol education course? He should have been.

But I have to agree with others who say that this is a very different situation than the situation with Paris. Princess Paris thought that she was above the law and refused to take any responsibility for her actions. In Paris' mind, it's always someone else's fault when mistakes with serious consequences occur and stupid little things like actually having to register for the court-ordered alcohol education class is only for us common people--it didn't apply to someone at HER level of exaltedness. Likewise, suspending her license and fining her didn't work, she continued to flaunt it in everyone's face that she could still do whatever she wanted, so they HAD to give her a harsher punishment before she finally learned her lesson and that's why she got the jail time. Jail seems to be doing her much more good than harm, though, so her fans should be happy about that. I only hope (against hope) that she's actually SINCERE about what she's been saying lately and is in the process of becoming a better person.

50.
Paris was GIVEN the very same kind of "sentence"...get off this he got better the Paris did...
HE did not......Paris BROKE her probation, drove on a suspended licence and DID NOT go to the DUI class....She deserved exactly what she got for NOT obeying the Court.

If MOORE does not do what he is suppose to do...I would expect he would face jail time too...

Who writes this junk anyway??? Gawd...do you have all memory issues????

52. For the record, pelading "no contest" is not owning up to your mistakes. It simply means you know there is enough evidence to convict you-- not that you are admitting any wrong doing.

54. Yikes!! Lots of racists out there. Shemar received what the judge gave him. He received a fine and community service because he stood up like a man and took responsibility for his actions. No drama, no hysteria and not costing the court system more money for wasted time.
Now, Shemar, about that Community Service, my Community, say 7ish? My God, do they come any finer than that man?
I am white, but I own my own business and pay my own bills with my own money and am older than you, but that can be a reallllllll good thing.
Love Criminal Minds, one of the best on network tv. Call me, K?

55. Sorry Onlyamom,

Shemar cannot come and do community service in your community. He is doing community service with me. He has been sentenced to be handcuffed to my bed.
