NBC Has Secret Code for Paris Interview

It does indeed look like Paris & family have inked a deal with NBC. TMZ has learned the NBC bureau in Burbank has been put on alert for a "possible Paris interview" and the project is so secret, it has a code name -- ROME!!!
Paris, Code Name: Rome
Sources say the camera staff, production assistants and others have been told the interview will be conducted by Meredith Vieira sometime next week and will air on "Today."

The buzz is -- NBC paid a cool mil for the sit-down. NBC rules prohibit paying for interviews, so our sources say the party line is that the network is paying for videos.

61. You know all of you will watch that interview. Who are you kidding?

But I don't think it will be that great, because Paris is very inarticulate. I bet her mother does most of the talking.

62. Rome. How appropriate. The Fall of the Roman Empire is history, the lowest common denominator pandering that this interview signifies with or without a million dollars is the Fall of American Culture to a new low. Having the interview with Matt Lauer or someone who would play hardball would be interesting , but not to this child who apparently needs an "easy ride" i.e. no confrontation. Bad enough NBC released Katie Couric to bring down the CBS Evening News. Now we have this. And for a million dollars which will pay off much more than that just with the preinterview "buzz" as they say in show biz, but the playing and replaying and discussing and God Forbid hearing this on the National News as if it were important. I'm glad I'm 63. What will the world be like 20 years from now. I sympathize with young people. This is the kind of mindless nonesense you have been presented with and it is now torqued up to a new level when a major network conducts, much less pays for, this insidious waste of time. I won't watch it. I won't have to. It will be everywhere forever. Gag. Edward R. Murrow is spinning in his grave like a chicken on a rotisserie. Someone stop this madness.

65. The way I see it, NBC will be making a lot of mon ey off the Paris interview. Why shouldn't Paris reap a reward?!? Should the network get ALL the money!?! If it was Angelina Jolie getting the cash, nobody would question whether she should get the money. I see no reason for a CEO that is already making MILLIONS EACH YEAR to use Paris to make money without compensating her. Networks have to much power and money already! At least Paris works ! She doesn't have to! Go Paris! Everyone playerhates her so much because she was born with money and makes millions off her name. Heck, I'd do the same if I could! More power to Paris!

66. Paris Hilton is a disgrace and her parents should be ashamed of the child they raised. She did the crime now she is doing the time, would everyone still feel sorry for her if she killed someone?? I will never again watch the Today Show(I usually watch everyday) or anything else on NBC if they reward this irresponsible child for her behavior. Good Morning America here I come!!

67. "Reputable" journalists paying for an interview of a has been social-leech soon to be ex-con. Sorry NBC but you just purchased the death of all credibility in your so called news devision. Will never watch NBC news again. A network paying for an interview is in my opinion just as bad as creating the news just to have a juicy story. Anyone connected to this in any way should be fired.

68. I also noticed the recent showing of Hilton Hotel commercials... and agree that it is pretty obvious that the news can now be sold.

Real News has never paid for interviews.

Paying Paris is an insult and offensive to all people who WORK for a living that she should get paid anything for an interview.

I presonally already emailed MSNBC and Today Show in protest. Also emailed all their sponsors I could locate, requesting they disassociate from that network if Paris is paid.

And this network and show will have lost all credibility.

69. How much can you say about jail??!! Oh, I cried and screamed, then I looked at the walls, then I ate some gruel, then I cried and screamed some more, til they gave me some pills.........A million for that?- Now who's dumb, Paris, or us?

70. #29........GREAT IDEA! BOYCOTT NBC and any other station that runs ANYTHING about her.........That's what I'll be doing.(And that includes TMZ and the stuff they keep writing about her.......WHO CARES?) Why does anyone care what she has to say? If she had half a brain she'd keep a low profile for awhile and hope that people forget about what a joke she is.

71. HOW VERY TACKY, NBC, TO PROMOTE THIS OVER EXPOSED WOULD BE PORN STAR. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE YOU SENDING TO YOUNG PEOPLE ... THUMB YOUR NOSE AT THE LAW AND GET A BIG PAYDAY OUT OF IT. SHAME, SHAME!

Posted at 11:55AM on Jun 22nd 2007 by Cindylou

72. If Paris HAS decided to change her ways....she would request that whatever NBC paid for this interview would go to charity. She could use the public and media obsession with her in a good way, rather than to show how shallow she is.

75. I am glad Matt Lauer isn't doing the interview. I like him and would have lost a lot of respect for him and his reporting.
