A Banner Year for Hanson!? Mmmkay...

Ten years after most people stopped listening to Hanson, the boys -- er, men now? -- are desperately trying to get back into your lives with a super-fun Internet contest! Please, contain your enthusiasm.

Isaac, Taylor and Zach will personally write a song about you (MmmmBob?) -- if you paste Hanson.net banners all over your personal site. Fan sites that get the most click-throughs to the Hanson site will be entered to win a song written by the funky, hunky musical gods.

Of course, with Hanson, there are no real losers -- those who don't win the grand (?) prize, will still get to keep their ultra-mega-teenarific banners. Can it get any better?
Hanson
And a little fact about the boys which you may not know; we hear that they were the worst Oprah guests ever! You might have thought it was a demanding Babs, the silent Liz Taylor or even the couch-jumping Tom Cruise. Our sources tell us that in the twenty years that Oprah's been on the air, the Hanson brothers were the most difficult guests the show has ever hosted, hands down.

TMZ, bringing you tasty tidbits each and every day.

16. These guys hold more talent in thier little pinky's than 99.9% of the other people TMZ reports on. This so called "tidbit" is nothing but ignorant trash.

17. you know that you all loved mmmbop when it was on the radio...

i think it's cool that they are trying to get their fans involved in the music process, unlike most artists who think that they are too good for their fans.

atleast this tmz article (although a bit lame), is helping people remember that hanson is still around!

18. Ugh. How DARE they try to make music, and, worse yet, try to entice people to listen to it.!!! The Very Nerve of some people! Don't they know that they're no longer The Latest Thing? Of course, we can only listen to this year's music! What were these guys thinking? Next thing you know, musicians of the 80s will be inviting us to listen to their music! Clearly this must be STOPPED! Now I must go and lay down; the very thought of a ten-year-old band TRYING to make music and TRYING to bring it to the public attention has caused me to become quite faint.

:: and for those here that are not so perceptive: yes. I am being sarcastic. ;-) ::

19. 2 got married when they got their girlfriends knocked up. 1 got married because of the constant rumours he's gay, he then felt the need to sprog out 3 kids to supposidly seal the deal.
They're the most effeminate "men" I've ever seen. The middle one? Straight? Uh, NO!

And for the record, psycho-obsessed-fans, getting married does not make them good men! It makes them kids who want to play at being adults. The sooner they accept they're OVER the sooner they can go and get jobs that will actually pay the bills.

20. I never liked Hanson, and I pretty much ignore people who say that they are great musicians (I remember 3 of their songs; Where's The Love was their best one and that was pretty pathetic), so the contest seems like an easy-to-ignore type of thing.

I can believe they were her most difficult guests; she doesn't seem like a person who would be good with children (but don't get me wrong; I don't like her either).

Anyway, why are there always people who want to get mad at the people who don't like a celebrity? Nobody has to like Hanson. Your world is not going to end because many of us don't like their music. I don't care if they're married and have kids. If they want to not be picked on, there is an easy solution; disappear!

They're great because they play their own instruments? That makes them competent.

Yell at me all you want, because I won't give a damn. They suck. Most music sucks today anyway.

21. Well, Bella, I saw Hanson three months ago at a sold-out show in Pennsylvania. I tried telling those 3,000 psycho-obsessed fans that they should go home, because Hanson are over, and that they needed to stop playing sold-out shows and become accountants or something so that they can pay their bills. The psycho-obsessed fans wouldn't listen to me! I even told some of them that the middle one must be secretly gay based upon his appearance, which is undoubtedly the most accurate way of telling sexual orientation, and of course nobody can listen to music by gay people. They still insisted on staying! What's wrong with the world, when people listen to the music THEY like, instead of the music we tell them to like?!

::disclaimer: once again, I'm being sarcastic. I know some people can't tell.::

23. I love Hanson, and I dont think they get enough credit. their hard working and do a lot. And people look up to people like Paris Hilton? And care about wth she does, people need to look into people that are talent like Hanson.

24. Okay, so people have a misconception about Hanson. No big deal. They think that

1. they're old news, and they've milked all that they can from their "one hit" and should quietly bow down.
Correction: MMMBop was their BIGGEST hit, yes, but they had many lower-scale successes after it. That same year, and later on (eg. #1 album on the indie charts). I don't think they're even trying to reach the level of fame they had with MMMBop. They're just making music because it is something they love, something they're quite good at, and making it available to those who want to listen. Those who don't want to listen, are free to tune in to their local preprogrammed music television programme and/or radio station.

2. They should get "real" jobs because they aren't famous enough to make it in the music world anymore.
Correction: they have a very devoted, large fanbase who make sure they buy their albums at least from the country they live in, and go to as many shows as they possibly can - this means sold-out shows to audiences which number in the thousands. So, yes, they do make enough to live a decent life. No, they don't make millions. But if that's what they were after, they wouldn't have gone independent - they would have done exactly what their record company asked them to and become another sell-out.

Hanson are for real, just ask some of your favourite musicians of today, yesterday or tomorrow...Most of them agree (eg. Bono: "Hanson's music is genius", some others: Puff Daddy, Maroon 5, etc.).

All I'm saying is that everyone should give MUSIC a chance, and if you don't like what you hear, fair enough - it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. But come to it with unbiased ears, please. That is all.

25. They designed their two recording studios, own their own record label, and write, arrange, perform, and record their own music. And they're all under 26. Come on, who does that in the music business at such a young age? Would you believe Billy Corrigan was at a Hanson concert in Chicago two years ago? He likes Hanson.

Give these Hanson guys high fives for being so successful.

26. Bella, please be aware that you sound like an ignorant dumbass.

I'm pretty sure Taylor wouldn't "sprog out" 3 kids just to hide being gay. Get serious.

As for only getting married because the girls got "knocked up," let me fill you in. Taylor had been with his wife for years before she got pregnant, and so had Isaac- they were even engaged beforehand.

Seeing as the guys made millions back in the day and have continued to be successful Indie artists who gather more respect in the music industry than you could know, I strongly doubt that "paying the bills" is a problem.

I'm not even that big of a fan, but I do keep up with their music and their lives. Your blatant stupidity just compelled me to correct some ignorance in the world.

27. Wow, Bella, the way you talk about them must mean you know them??? I think Hanson is extremely underrated. Because they came out with a "teeny-bopper" song, they were catagorized as pop stars. I saw them perform live on a couple of shows - these guys are the real deal! They are extremely talented musicians who can play their instruments well and can also sing very well. I feel bad that people who know really nothing about their music, except um-bop, come out and act like that's all they are. There alot more to these boys than um-bop...

Posted at 4:21PM on Jun 25th 2007 by Yes, I do know...

28. This is a truly idiotic article. So the band the Village Voice called "possibly the best straight-up rock band in America", a band that tours extensively to sold out clubs, is trying to get some publicity in the hopes that people will click on their site, listen to their music, and realize that they not children playing teen pop, but are talented singers/songwriters/musicians. Let's ridicule them for it! Let's find the least flattering photos we can; let's quote the words some underling on Oprah said 10 years ago b/c they asked for too many different foods or something, to completely mislead people about what they're like! Let's perpetuate the stereotypes people have of them, b/c it's the really cool thing to do!

29. Hey one of those Hansons looks like Jon Bon Jovi..

30. It's Zac. Z-A-C. No H!! And they have more talent in them than most bands ever dream of having. I'm going to see them in NYC next month and I can't wait. Everyone should give them a chance. They're extremely talented.
