A Banner Year for Hanson!? Mmmkay...

Ten years after most people stopped listening to Hanson, the boys -- er, men now? -- are desperately trying to get back into your lives with a super-fun Internet contest! Please, contain your enthusiasm.

Isaac, Taylor and Zach will personally write a song about you (MmmmBob?) -- if you paste Hanson.net banners all over your personal site. Fan sites that get the most click-throughs to the Hanson site will be entered to win a song written by the funky, hunky musical gods.

Of course, with Hanson, there are no real losers -- those who don't win the grand (?) prize, will still get to keep their ultra-mega-teenarific banners. Can it get any better?
Hanson
And a little fact about the boys which you may not know; we hear that they were the worst Oprah guests ever! You might have thought it was a demanding Babs, the silent Liz Taylor or even the couch-jumping Tom Cruise. Our sources tell us that in the twenty years that Oprah's been on the air, the Hanson brothers were the most difficult guests the show has ever hosted, hands down.

TMZ, bringing you tasty tidbits each and every day.

31. I'm not a big fan of MMMBop, but their other stuff is really rather good. No one will ever look past MMMBop. And who cares if the are difficult guest on a talk show. And more importantly what made them be the most difficult? Was it the fans (because they have crazy fans) or was it that they were late trying to perfect their music, or was it really that they were wild and crazy? And how old were they when they were on that show? And who cares about Oprah anyway? No one will ever be fair to them because they had long hair and sang an annoying song. blah blah blah. I just think it's cool that after 10 years some people still have respect for them. And they are still making great music. Better than any other "boy band".

32. I'm not a fan of theirs, but I don't think there is anything wrong with this. Yes, the idea of basing a song around who ever gets them the most attention seems to question the credibility they've scraped together and how likely is it that an actual fan will win and not some creative asshole who wants to mess with the band.

But really, it could be worse. It's only one little song and it's already gotten them more attention then they've collectively garnered in the post-Mmmbop years. I feel like they agreed naively and didn't predict this. And also, consider how many really good artists have done questionable things for attention. The gimmick may be stupid, but it will work if they have talent to back it up.

Ps. Sylvia, please shut up. The only thing sadder then failing to recognize a terrible joke is the author feeling the need to explain it.

33. Oh jesus christ on a bicycle, they were what, 11, 14, and 17 when they were on Oprah? We all know Zac's a rambunctious asshole half the time anyways. I've never seen any other band do a "contest" this way, it's kind of cool, even though I much would rather win the tickets/m&g passes to a show.

34. Ok, so Hanson could be quite possibly the least limelight seeking celebrities of our time...so it must have been a slow day at the TMZ offices to use them as an article. They are having this contest for their FANS, and if you are not one of them it doesn't concern you. By the way, if you really want to poke fun, you might want to spell check on names. It's Zac, not Zach. It's all over their website, so why don't you click on a banner and find it?

Also, it amazes me how celebrities that release sex tapes, show off their genitals every chance they get, flaunt themselves being drunk and stupid, are famous for no apparent reason, and run in and out of rehab when it's the thing to do, get more respect than a band that had a little song called "MMMBop" when they were young. Which, by the way, didn't make it to #1 for a reason. Someone had to like the song. So for all of you people that say they need to quit trying because it's been ten years since the song was out....need to remember it's been ten years for you too. Get over your hatred for "MMMBop" and grow up.

35. All I have to say that you can't criticize anyone out there making music and trying to get it known. These guys have proved themselves (to open-minded music fans) to be talented in their art. Good for you Hanson! Keep on Rockin'. The true, music lovers out there will continue to support you!

36. Whoever wrote this article is a complete and utter moron....who has obviously not heard their latest music. Get your ass out of the 90s, loser. Talk about holding on to the past. There are tens of thousands of fans most of which are well into and past their 20s. MMMBop was a song written by boys in their garage, but they have grown since then and done a lot of phenomenal work since. I'll take 'em the way they are, indie, underground, and out of the prying eyes of idiots like you. They are the best kept American secret, and that is coming from an international fan.

Boo to you.

37. Oh, and to loser author of this article? Thanks for the link to H.net!!!!! Great plug!!!!!

38. Ugh, I don't even know where to begin. And if I start on a rant it would get way too long and no one will read it. If your going to insult this band or the fans why are you wasting your time writing comments? Captain Obvious your an idiot. None of the Hanson fans are mad about this TMZ article, after all, any publicity is good publicity right? We are pissed at the people we encounter everyday that won't give Hanson a chance. It's been 10 years, so Hanson grew up, the fans grew up with them... they are 10 million times better than they were back then... so maybe its time for everyone else to grow up and honor a band that hasn't given up, that continues to perservere and prove the haters wrong. Because after one listen, I guarantee you wouldn't have one negative thing to say about these three talented young men.

39. Everyone will always have their own opinion on Hanson. For the ones that base it off of their days of MMMBop, yeah, that was how long ago yall?! Hanson still sold out shows and created a fan base that has stood by their side to this day. I've been a huge fan from day one. These guys are just passionate about music and creating it...that's why they're still at it. Let them do what they love. They're not trying to make a living. They already did that ten years ago. Admit it...they're talented! The end.

40. I think it's a great idea. I have been a Hanson fan for 10 years now, and I'm excited about the idea that they would do something like that for their fans. Yes it's getting more promotion but the fans with websites already pretty much promote them anyway why not get something in return. I think all non Hanson fans are all so against then that they don't get the chance they deserve. Yes their hit was Mmmbop but get over it! let it go it was a song 10 years ago written by kids! Close minded people will neverlisten and I understand that. But I think this is such a cool thing they are doing for their fans.

41. No matter how you stack it, they are a million times better than Britney because I've never seen their nether regions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

42. Hanson are real musicians who are fantastic at what they do. If you haven't gotten past MMMBop yet, I'd recommend doing so and checking out their newer music.

Real musicians listen to Hanson. That all I've got to say.

43. the oldest one looks retarded, the youngest one doesn't look much like he used to and the middle one is still hot.

recently flipped thru people mag in the check out line and saw their family picture, the middle one has way too many kids. the one i think his name is isaac has a really fat wife and weird looking kid. and the younger one should never bred, but his wife sure is pretty!

this contest sounds dumb and its such a has-been publicity shot in the dark and its a HUGE miss! rejected. mmmbop was catchy when it came out but that summer it was way overplayed. everything else that came out after the second album when the craze died down sucked donkeyballs.

even hotness on taylor hanson can't make up for bad music!

44. Excuse Me, #20 (Megan), about Your Comment....
"I'm pretty sure Taylor wouldn't "sprog out" 3 kids just to hide being gay. Get serious."

Ah Yes, Yes they Do. I'm Quite Familiar with this Particular Issue, and Many, MANY Married Men (who are Really Gay) Do have Many a Children just to cover their tracks.... And Yes, I AM Being Serious. Unless You Personally know Gay Men, that Choose to live a Straight Life Style, then You Wouldn't Understand or Believe it. Well, I'm Telling You.. Believe it!

45. HANSON has more talent than 99.9% of the "music industry" out there, if people would actually give them a chance rather than judging them on 'MMMBop' which happened to be TEN YEARS AGO. just a thought.
