A Banner Year for Hanson!? Mmmkay...

Ten years after most people stopped listening to Hanson, the boys -- er, men now? -- are desperately trying to get back into your lives with a super-fun Internet contest! Please, contain your enthusiasm.

Isaac, Taylor and Zach will personally write a song about you (MmmmBob?) -- if you paste Hanson.net banners all over your personal site. Fan sites that get the most click-throughs to the Hanson site will be entered to win a song written by the funky, hunky musical gods.

Of course, with Hanson, there are no real losers -- those who don't win the grand (?) prize, will still get to keep their ultra-mega-teenarific banners. Can it get any better?
Hanson
And a little fact about the boys which you may not know; we hear that they were the worst Oprah guests ever! You might have thought it was a demanding Babs, the silent Liz Taylor or even the couch-jumping Tom Cruise. Our sources tell us that in the twenty years that Oprah's been on the air, the Hanson brothers were the most difficult guests the show has ever hosted, hands down.

TMZ, bringing you tasty tidbits each and every day.

47. They are actually really talented, to bad close minded people never gave them a chance. I haven't listened to there latest album but the one they made previous was awesome

48. Hanson is the most amazing band to come along in the past 10 years. I really don't think I have to say anything to justify how good they are. Their music proves that.

49. Their debut album sold over 12 million.....can't deny them that!!

50. Ah, Okay.... Oh, I'm Sorry, How are they Amazing, again?

51. Um, Lindz, I'd just like to take a moment and say YOU ROCK!!! I completely agree with what you said. And Sylvia, you too! Thumbs up to both of you, and anyone else who's sticking up for this amazing band!
As for those of you who seem to hate Hanson with all your hearts, get over it, for God's sake!! It's been 10 years! Now, children, what's 11+10? . . . 21? Really? Hmm, because that's how old Zac, the youngest Hanson is, but you guys seem to think that 10 years don't apply to these guys. That means MMMBop was 10 years ago! They're past that, so why aren't you?! Why can't you give their music a chance? Is it because you're afraid you might like it? *Gasp* Oh my God! You're guaranteed a ticket straight to hell if you like a song by Hanson! . . . Give me a break!
Do those of us who are fans of REAL music a favour and stop posting articles and comments about bands that you obviously know nothing about!

52. Haha wow well that little article made me laugh...what really is the point to bash Hanson? Oh wait, because most of you would say "Because they are the 3 losers that wrote that annoying song MMMbop forever ago and are still trying to make a comeback" Yea well thats what many ignorant people would say because they can't get over that time in their lives...maybe if you actually gave their recent music a chance, you would realize how talented and creative they are..but no, their still just known to you as the guys who wrote MMMbop...Which was #1 for a long time, and you damn well know you loved the song too..pop music was big then..and yea it was teenybopperish...but hello!!! They were kids! What the hell would you expect out of them! Things have changed...They have changed...they are not doing the contest to just get them out into the public again, its for their fans..of course its also a form of promotion, but theres nothing wrong with that..They have their own record label, so they can get the music they are passionate for out there, not what another record label may like, being songs they see as huge hits, but not being what Hanson is about and the music they love...They are not with a label that spends $200,000 or more to promote their single/album, and they could care less...they'll do it their own way and still be proud because the people that matter are the ones that have stuck by their side and appreciated the music, them being so famous or not.... so grow up and realize their doing something for their devoted and intelligent fans who actually appreciate good music...actually give them a chance and listen to their new music that comes out next month and see the difference from 10 yrs ago. You'll be suprised.

Oh yea...and the thing about Oprah..totally random and off topic..who cares if they were the worst guests? They were kids for Christ sakes..just such a dumb part to throw in the article...way to bash them even more! Especially something from 10 yrs ago! NOT...

53. This article is so stupid. If TMZ actually read up on the people they write about, they might know that Hanson never went away and that they have put out albums continuously over the years. The people who bash them honestly must have nothing better to do with their lives since they write paragraph upon paragraph on how hanson is "gay", etc. Go talk about Paris Hilton. losers. you probably love her.

54. Ah, The song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" was #1 for about A YEAR... so that #1 thing doesn't really hold much water, for Me... Sorry. :P

55. I'm Not Saying that I "Hate" them! Hate is a Very Strong Word. I Just Don't like them, or their music. It came out during a Time when Grunge and Alternative was the thing. Then all of a Sudden, we hear this "MMMbop" being played after a Smashing Pumpkins Song, or Something.. and it just seem So Out of Place and So "Pushed". You know Exactly what I'm saying, and if You Honestly don't, then that's on You.

56. Are they one of my favorite bands? No
Do I like their music? Yeah, it's nice pop/rock.
Should they be "allowed" to make music even if they no longer sell out stadiums? Hell, yes!

57. Hanson are amazing because they had more success before the oldest brother was 20, than most of us will ever have in our lives. Plus, ten years after their biggest hit, they're still making music and selling out shows and we're still talking about them at great length. They're also amazing because they willingly left their major label and put out their most recent albums on their own label, which they started from the ground up. And they even made a documentary about the process of leaving their label, which is part of the curriculum at several major universities and is available for free on iTunes. But the greatest reason that Hanson are amazing is the quality of their music, which is sincere, unpretentious, and beautiful. Sadly, many of our commenters here have probably never heard 99% of Hanson's music.

Posted at 10:31PM on Jun 25th 2007 by Sylvia

58. Okay, I'll Admit it. Yes, I am one of those Commenter's that have only heard about the 1% (if that) of their Music. But there's a Reason for that. "MMMBop was just one of those songs that was Pushed on the Wrong Group of Listeners, at the Wrong Time. Now say if it had come out in the Early to Mid 70's During the Whole "Bubblegum" Music Period.. then Yeah, We'd Probably have Appreciated it a lot More. But it didn't come out then, and it wasn't Very Nicely Presented to those of Us that Really Didn't want to Listen to "POP" Music. No, We were Intensionally Trying to Get Away from that kind of Music. The song was just Pushed on Us.. and WAY Overplayed, I Might add, which made it even More Annoying.

Tell Me You Never got a Bad First Impression of Something or Someone, and NEVER Wanted to Know Anything about it Ever Again? You Can't.. You'd be Lying if You did. Well, that's how Me, and Others like Me, feel about Hanson. Maybe they should have chosen a different "Breakout" song, or just marketed it to a different audience. You know what I'm saying.

59. i think most people participating in this contest are fans doing it because they want to help promote the band and would actually prefer to win 2nd prize. it's a cute idea, and it's not that much different from having your fans submit itunes art (fall out boy) or name your album (britney spears).

it's ridiculous that this "article" was written with such contempt for hanson for being a bunch of attention whores trying to cash in on their past success. hanson may have fallen off the radar of the mainstream over the years, but they never stopped releasing new material. you even covered the release of "the great divide" single for world AIDS day last fall (where it was said that they'd "grown into some formidable musicians"). the oprah comment is completely irrelevant and just a pathetic attempt to make them look like assholes-- like when you tacked it onto the end of the announcement of Isaac's son being born at the beginning of april.

60. I'd like to know why, whether from Oprah or others, why they were difficult guests while on her show.
I'm not going to bother defending the nasty comments about their sexuality nor for that matter, Gayle King, Oprah's best friend and "sidekick". Some people just have nothing nice to say about anybody. :)
