WWE superstar Chris Benoit, 40, his wife Nancy and young son were found dead in their Atlanta home early this afternoon, this according to WWE.com.
No further details regarding the tragedy have been released. Benoit was scheduled to appear at a pay-per-view event last night ... WWE said that there was a "family emergency" that prevented him from being there.
Benoit, a former World Heavyweight Champ, wreaked havoc with his signature move, the "Crippler Crossface."
The incident comes on the heels of the shocking death of former WWE wrestler "Sensational" Sherri Martel, and the supposed "assassination" of WWE head honcho Vince McMahon. TMZ has learned that the WWE is scrapping all references to the McMahon death storyline on tonight's episode of "Raw.'
According to the official WWE website, tonight's "Raw" will serve as a tribute to the wrestling great.
Police are investigating the incident.
UPDATE: ABC News is reporting that the deaths are being investigated as a possible suicide and double homicide.

It's so funny how some of you refuse to believe this guy KILLED his family. GO READ IT FOR YOURSELF. I mean, how many news links do you need to face the truth?
All you fans of that wrestling garbage need to step out of the trailer and go get some air. It'll clear your head. Why would you let your kids watch a bunch of 'roided freaks? Good luck explaining how this "great family man" ended up in a murder/suicide. Maybe it's time to read some books instead, or take your kids to the park instead of letting the TV babysit them.

My My how you all jump to conclusions. His wife and son were coughing blood sunday night. He rushed home. They probably died from "something to be determined at autopsy" and he probably killed himself on Monday! Why jump to any conclusion when you dont know any factual information.
My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chirs Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning. His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He the fasioned a slip-knot noose from from rope taken from the garage and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home.
I really liked Chris and he was one of my favorite wrestlers. He was so tough. Now, I know that he is just a punk coward (IF he did kill his family, which it appears he did) who not only murdered his wife, but murdered a 7 year old. What in the hell did the kid do? If Chris was having issues, he should have found a way to work them out. We ALL have problems in life. Only a punk murders children. He's just another whacko.

Right. He "rushes home" because they are throwing up blood. Huh. Call me crazy, but I'd go to the hospital. I wouldn't wait for my husband to come home.

I haven't seen ONE report in any news sites of coughing up blood. I think a poster made it up, and it got out of hand on here.

Double murder-suicide
It has been ruled that the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel earlier today were the result of a double murder-suicide from within the home. WWE.com will have more as soon as it becomes available.

this is completely horible!!!! My brother, god rest his soul, had been one of Chris's biggest fans.... this makes no sense, he will be dearly missed.!!!!

I find it ironic that, for the last three hours on RAW, they spoke of Benoit as a man with dignity, honor, love of his family, and yet, little did they know, it turns out he was none of that, he was a low life coward and now a double murderer.
I guess we now know who killed Vince!
