Benoit's History of Domestic Violence Exposed

Before her grisly death, Chris Benoit's wife once told a judge that she was, "intimidated by threats of violence" from her 220 lb. husband.

In divorce papers filed in 2003, Nancy Benoit included a petition for protection from domestic abuse against Chris. In the papers, Nancy claimed that Benoit, "lost his temper and threatened to strike the petitioner and cause extensive damage to the home and personal belongings of the parties, including furniture." Nancy added that she was, "in reasonable fear for petitioner's own safety and that of the minor child."

Three months later, Nancy filed to have the divorce papers and the restraining order dismissed. A short time later, a judge granted her wish.

As TMZ first reported, law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe Benoit strangled his wife on Saturday, smothered his son on Sunday and then hanged himself on Monday.

62. Domestic violence always escalates, ALWAYS.
Some victims return thinking it's changed, hoping he has changed. It never happens.
Some may think its strange how quite this was kept from the public, But I doubt if it was a secret from those close to the family. She may have been threatning to leave.

64. the true wrestling heros are andre the giant, hulk hogan, steve borden aka sting, bill goldberg, owen and brett hart (who by the way were trained with chris benoit). they have integrity, morals and values.
the current lineup of "stars" at wwe and ecw are not what ANYONE should or would want their children to be watching.

65. To #21-VKM - I think you should apologized to the rest of the people in this site. How dare you said is his wife fault...HOW ABOUT HIS SON? Did his son pushed this bastard "to the brink" also? ...You are a very sick individual to excuse the death of a mother and child...

Shame on you.

66. #48.....are you FOR REAL? I just want to laugh at you for your ignorance.
He was a good man? That's what you said, right? He was a good man???? and..he wasn't using steriods? Take a good look at his neck. Trust me when I tell YOU that NO ...absolutely NO 40 year old man, no matter how much he works out will have THAT sized neck or lats or pecs without steriods, my dear. So go back into whatever fantasy world you happen to be living in. I'm a doctor of physical therapy and I'm telling you, the man HAD to be on steriods. Period. Grow up.

68. Yes, this news is disturbing and untimely and definatly not what we would expect from someone who is on our tv's every week, but I believe that we shouldn't look at this one event as being the defining moment of all wrestling.

70. When this first came out, sadly, people didn't believe it because of the "crying wolf" hoax of McMann, dying in the explosion. And now... this is a horrible truth..
They need to test these guys.... its not healthy, its deadly

71. No one will ever truly know what happened in that house. There are so many things that could have happened, so many details that will never be known. There is evidence, yes, and that will give part of the story. Don't place all the blame on someone that can't defend themselves. Chris Benoit was a talented wrestler and many people liked him. The other wrestlers are feeling a lot of mixed emotions, not understanding why things went the way they did, mourning the loss of a "family" member, a friend, and confused as to why this had to happen. Yes, if Chris did this, it is a damn shame. But that doesn't mean that maybe he didn't have issues of his own. Why is everyone so quick to blame the drugs, the carreer, his past. Yes, they could have played a role but for those who are, were you there? Did you see what happened? Do you know exactly what happened in his day to day life? I hope that the family that is left is together, wup[porting each other in this trying time, and my sypmathies go to all of them.

I don't blame steroids for abuse but I am making a judgment call that he did murder his family. The facts are in in on that much, Deal with that.

75. A few things --

First -- HOPEFULLY Vince McMahon learned a valuable lesson about playing dead and tempting fate. I bet he feels like a real asshole right now and he should! Having Eddie's wife up there the other night paying "tribute" to a dead Vince... What did they do for poor Sherri's death that very week? A small blurb on thier website. WOW.

Second -- Why on earth would the WWE go ahead and air a THREE HOUR TRIBUTE to this wife & child-killer and his life before any of the hard facts came in?! All they cared about were ratings -- that's heartless! What they should have done was swith to re-run or air something else instead of tossing together a "tribute" LESS THAN T WO HOURS AFTER the bodies were discovered...

Third -- yeah it is a tragedy, but WOMAN should have left his ass for good the FIRST time he ever raised a fist to her. Dumb, dumb, dumb! When you have a child, at least be responsible to that child if not for your own safety!

I'm so disgusted with the WWE and wrestling in general right now.
Vince, you SUCK! I'm keeping my child far far away from your brand of so called entertainment!
