WWE: Bibles Prove Benoit Killings Were Not "Roid Rage"

The WWE is firing back at claims that the murders/suicide by former wrestling champion Chris Benoit were the result of "roid rage."
Click to read!
After local authorities revealed that steroids were found at the chilling murder scene, several media outlets claimed that a violent reaction caused by use of the supplements may have contributed Benoit's murderous behavior. The WWE claims that assumption is pure bulls**t, although they name no criminal, psychopharmaceutical or hormone expert as the source of their claims.

In a statement released to TMZ, WWE reps claim that the proof is in the Bibles left at the feet of Benoit's two victims. "The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage."

The WWE also claims that Benoit tested negative for steroids in the company's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007.

196. the term says it all. RAGE. like someone else said if it had been roid rage the house would have been destroyed and would have looked more like a murder scene than murder/suicide. although i'm not condoning what happened i'm just saying people need to quit jumping to conclusions from things that they have heard. everyone knows all the facts will NEVER be known not even to police. the only 3 people that will ever know what really happened in that house are chris, nancy, and daniel. everyone is guessing and making assumptions. people blaming the wwe are out of line too. only person to be blamed is chris himself. no one knows what was going on in his head. maybe it was from past steroid use. he had gone thru several neck surgeries to repair blown discs and was prescribed anabolic steroids a few years ago to help with healing which is done frequently in sports injuries. he had talked about it in more that one interview since it happened throughout his career. honestly i think what probably happened is the call was nancy telling him she was leaving. he went home. they got in a fight. he tied her up to try and keep her there to reason with her. her death was accidental. he panicked. killed daniel in a stage of remorse. then commited suicide. just an idea. i dont know i dont know all the facts nor does anyone else.

197. yes let's blame it on drugs, not the fact that it would take a complete monster to do this, and no one on here wants to believe that. anyone who calls this guy a hero should drop dead.

198. as a fan of wrestling. and a benoit fan.. if it was steroid useage that would at least make some sort of sence. I can't see him doing this.. i just don't want to.. however wwe will go on without him.. he wasn't the only superstar of wrestling...a lot of guys work their butts off without the aid of steroid.. i didn't see anything mentioned here about his son's condition it was reported that his son was 7 and very small for his age even dwarflike.. the family had been giving him hormone treatments in an attempt to make him grow or gain some weight..
even though what he done was horrible, unspeakable, unexplainably heartwrenching, and not to mention just plain wrong... that don't change what he done or accomplished before this happened....
i will hold in my mind as a fan that he was a good man, an exceptional wrestler who had severe problems at the end of his life. but the show will go on without him.. i imagine more random testing will be done now than ever before and consequences harsher but the show will go on.. sure there have been a lot of wrestlers deaths due to drugs/alcohol/or prolonged steroid use but so have football players, hockey, and actors.. but there are more that don't than do.. becareful how you judge people you never know when you may be under the magnifine glass

199. I've been a fan of wrestling for 22-23 years. Benoit became over those years the most entertaining for me to watch. So I don't need to go into detail on how heartbroken I am. I've accepted that Benoit murdered his family. I trust the Detectives will do their personal best to find the truth. But the truth will never come soon enough for me.

So in the meantime, probably like most of you, we're going to keep reading, praying, hoping that something will be revealed proving Benoit is not this Monster.

What good can come of all this though? I hoped that WWE would embrace the possibility it may have been drug related, that Chris Benoit was suffering from temporary psychosis... Instead they're attacking his established character before all this went down. Claiming it's deliberate. Implying the motives may be related to his son's disease.

WWE has failed it's wrestlers, it's fans, and it's families. Instead of being compassionate they would rather make money. It's a business right!?!

WWE needs to lessen the commitments required by contracts despite the pay. It's now proven to be to much.

WWE needs to not push Mainly Muscle Bound Freaks. It promotes Steroid use to get ahead and make more money.

WWE needs to have SOME Support Structure for the Wrestlers and Families who are struggling with Domestic and Drug Abuse. Help stop it, instead of attacking it. Clean up your act.

200. I am still yet to see actual conclusive forensic PROOF that Chris Benoit was the murderer...?

201. No matter how you twist it or spin it that fact remains that he killed his wife and son then himself. I think everyone should stop blaming the WWE and put the blame back on him. I dont think Vince told him to do it. And tons of people are on steriod and they arent killing there family. The point is that nobody really knows what what was going on with his at that time. Hopefully after the report comes out it will shed some light either way. STOP JUMPING TO CONCULSIONS WITHOUT KNOWING ALL THE FACTS!!!!

202. it's sad that when some in sports whetier it's westling, the nfl, and baseball does. or do things the media frist thought is roids. i think they should just stick to the facts. the happened is sad and shocking, and i think whats best for the beonit family and those of his fans is to be told the truth. and not see benoit be remeberd as a drug uses unless he actully is

203. The WWE aired the tribute show BEFORE it was revealed that it was a double murder-suicide... the show was about 2/3rds in before it became known. In country's where Raw airs at a different time [ie in Aus it airs on Wednesday] the 'tribute' show was NOT aired. The WWE are not honouring or glorifing a murderer, in fact all mention of Benoit has been removed from wwe.com and his merchandise removed from the WWE-Shop.

In both ECW and Smackdown, no mention of Benoit is made [apart from Vince's announcement at the begining stating that the show's are dedicated to the fans and those effected by the events]

Now does that sound like a company defending and honouring a murderer?

As for why this tragedy happened don't jump to any conclusions like the media - wait until the authorities finish their investigation and release their findings.

204. I believe that what happened was a terrible accident gone wrong, I believe that in the heat of the moment Chris killed his wife probably under the influence of something, but I believe that taking his sons life as well as his was not his intentions, I feel that once he killed Nancy, he had time to reflect on what had happened, and got more scared and confused as to what was going to happen now, he would go to jail his life would be over as he knew it and his son would be alone, I feel that the reason why it was drawn out over a few days was because it was a mercy killing of Daniel and himself, why would you want to leave a child alone in this world, and have to go through years of torment because your famous father killed your mother he probably was in a frame of mind that what he was doing was for the best hence the reason for the Bibles beside the bodys, he knew that what he did was wrong but thought that this was the only way to fix what he had done

205. I want to make something clear. THE "ROID RAGE" DOES NOT EXIST. I REPEAT, IT DOES NOT EXIST. While using testoserone or steroids will make a person more aggressive, IT DOES NOT CAUSE PEOPLE TO EXPLODE IN A SUDDEN UNCONTROLLED, UNPREDICTABLE FIT OF RAGE. The "roid rage" concept was created by a defense attorney so he could plead diminished capacity for a client who did something violent and just happened to be on steroids. With or without steroids, barring a mental condition, what makes a person mad today will do so every day. Think about these 2 things:

1: legal over the counter non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs put more than 125,000 people a year in the hospital, asprin alone over 15,000. Steroids have a better safety record than many drugs that are available over the counter, and are far safer than booze or cigarettes. The French version of the FDA actually recommends that all men over 25 take testoserone.

2: The DEA and other government agencies believe that at any given time in the USA about 1% of the population or 3,000,000 people are illegally using steroids. With this in mind why are there so few incidents linked to there use. Steroids are the 2nd most used illegal drug (pot is 1st) and virtually no one is having side effects or ending up in the hospital. And where are all the very big steroid users that should be running amuck in a violent rage. If only 1 tenth of 1 percent of steroid users experience the "Roid Rage" there should be 30,000 incidents a year. It is not happening.

Don't get me wrong, taking large amounts of steroids will cause problems. Like liver damage, breast growth in me, fusion of the pelvis in women (this inhibits the delivery of a child), Chest hair growth in woman, sterillity and erectile disfunction in men, the list goes on. THE ROID RAGE IS NOT ONE OF THEM!

206. Ok I have to comment on this.....why is it that a double murder suicide makes headline news when it is celberity related.......this happens at least three times a day. Sad but true. Also why is society now a days so quit to discover something to blame besides that which caused the situation. The reality is Chris Benoit killed his wife and child. I am so sick and tired of hearing that steroids are responsible. They are not and never will be. If he does have roids in his system then it is his fault he took the juice noone elses. But because Benoit is dead we have to blame someone or something else to gain closure on a tragic event that really does not concern us. Oh and roids cause blind rage,at short bursts this was deliberate and thought out. Just read between the lines. Now I do beleive the doctor should be punished for over prescribing the drugs, and he is. The wwe should not and will not gain too much backlash for this. Thier fanbase is huge. It is almost a little like columbine kids shoot up the school but because they killed themselves society looked to pass the blame on a variety of things like music movies and video games. What happen to just being crazy and psychotic? Or did Jack the ripper take roids before killing those hookers? What was the video game Hitler played? Better yet when Bobbie Cutts killed his wife and unborn child was he on roids as well? And the music cd that Oshama Bin Laden listened to was? There are just crazy people in the world live with it. And you want proof that Benoit was nuts well just listen to the comments his friends made. He was silent, withdrawn and the last person they would ever suspect of doing this. Which is the first thing people say about the nutjobs who commit these horrible acts. Grow up and get over it people Benoit is to blam..bottom line thats it it can not get any simpeler than that.
