WWE: Bibles Prove Benoit Killings Were Not "Roid Rage"

The WWE is firing back at claims that the murders/suicide by former wrestling champion Chris Benoit were the result of "roid rage."
Click to read!
After local authorities revealed that steroids were found at the chilling murder scene, several media outlets claimed that a violent reaction caused by use of the supplements may have contributed Benoit's murderous behavior. The WWE claims that assumption is pure bulls**t, although they name no criminal, psychopharmaceutical or hormone expert as the source of their claims.

In a statement released to TMZ, WWE reps claim that the proof is in the Bibles left at the feet of Benoit's two victims. "The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage."

The WWE also claims that Benoit tested negative for steroids in the company's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007.

46. He kills her, wonders who will take care of the boy while he's in prison or after he kills himself, what will the boy think of him.....so he does the boy.

Rage denotes something done in a moment of passion. Maybe that's why he killed the wife, but then something else took over for him to drag out this carnage over 2-3 days. I guess we'll have to wait to find out. The text messages should shed some light.

48. Oh Plz. WWE had nothing to do with Beniot's Family death. He wasnt taking steroids either because they only found LEGAL prescriptions in their home. WWE is defening themselves from all the dumbass people saying that its their fault about Beniots so called "Roid Rage." All U idiots saying so need to read all the stories that have facts stating that Nancy was attempting to divorce him and take their son. It had nothing to do with no damn steroids. It pisses me off 2 see that ignorant people make assumptions based on what they dont know. So if you dont know what your talking about, then SHUTUP. Its very disturbing to see that he killed his wife and his son, hen commit sucide but being a wrestler is a hard job and its not all about living the Cinderella dream with all the money and fame. My condolencs goes out to his family and friends b/c its hard on them 2 loose Eddie and now Chris. I really wish it didnt have 2 happen like this!

49. Instead of the WWE playing professional police officers and homocide dectives they should be apologizing for airing that special night; knowing full well Benoit had killed his family. The WWE knew information and had been in close contact with the police all along. Yet, they air a 3 hour special making CB out to a be a hero and Idol. He's no hero but a cold blooded killer.

The WWE has lost all crediblity. The fans should be demanding the WWE take action to prevent further deaths of their wrestlers.

50. He only chose to kill himself AFTER her murdered his
family. Suicide
was only his last resort. He certainetly was not thinking of offing
his damn self while brutally banging is wife's head into oblivion. He
did not think of suicide before placing a plastic bag over his baby's
head and suffocating him to death. It was only after his actions that
he decided it was time to die!!! I never could understand why women
like those bulging scarry looking men. How does one even mount one of
those hulking beasts?? Why are men murdering their families these
days?? WHY?? Looks like the lesbians might have an idea worth
looking into. I have a man, but if he hever thought of doing this
kind of thing, I would know about it and get to him first. My man is
a good, decent, law abiding man, thank the Almight Lord! But you just
NEVER know anymore with the men in AMERICA anymore or anywhere in the
world for that matter. Life scares me.

51. This is all too typical of people on drugs.

52. Kim#1's post makes the most sense. People get murdered all the time. Roid Rage implies an instantaneous act. OVER TWO DAYS he bound up Nancy, strangled her, placed a Bible next to her, then suffocated his son in bed, put a Bible on him, then sent a number of bizarre text messages (now hearing some of them might have been Biblical quotes), then hung himself.

How does roid rage happen over two days?

53. Unfortunately, steroids can be the reason that they died, not from taking them but from him taking them. Using steroids currently or even in the past can cause serious mental changes which could be the reason these events took place. Steroids damage brain cells that help maintain your mental wellbeing. If he had been on them for long periods of time, god only knows what it did to his brain. I mean if you think about it, it would have to take someone pretty sick to kill someone, let alone a child, your own child. But I do agree with the WWF when they said that the whole story was not told and you should not jump to conclusions. It was obvious though that they are not familiar with what steroids could do to the brain over time or they would not appear to have been "defending" them so strongly.

54. this is a tragic situation and playing the blame game will not help anyone.
Chris Benoit was a great wrestler and a great man but a man with all the faults and fawls of any one Blaming the WWE will not bring them back and I have been a long time fan and they do everything to keep all of the wrestlers safe and Vince will not put up with drug use in any type.

55. Bumped up freak is all that man is now.

Yes a FREAK. Only a freak would murder his family. Only a freak would abuse prescription drugs and steroids.

Too bad his wife hadn't left him for good back in 2003. Maybe she'd be alive today along with her son.

56. Yes, anabolic steriods were found in his house. Did they play a part in what happened? Did any of the prescription drugs they found? We don't know definitively yet because the tox reports aren't back. In my opinion, yeah they probably had something to do with him deciding to kill his wife and son. Are they the soul reason he did it? No. The drugs aren't the only culprit. You can't just say "he took steriods so he killed his wife and son." Drugs probably did play a part but probably so did some mental issues, some situational issues within the family, and some work related issues. Does that excuse what he did? No. Does that mean it was okay? No. All it means is that if you think that drugs alone did this then you are very very mistaken. What he did was unfathomable to all of us here. I think we need to accept the fact that we will never know all of the elements in this case. We will never fully know every reason behind this especially what was going on in his head.

57. Why is everybody judging until all the facts are in. According to WWE.com:

Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.

3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.

4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.

5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.

WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities.

This is a terrible tragedy and there are three lives that are lost. This is a senseless act, alledgedly done by someone who was looked upon as a hero by millions of fans around the world. May God have mercy on his soul and may his remaining family members and friends find peace and forgiveness in their hearts for Chris. He was one of the greats!

58. I think it's ridiculous to try to say what it was 'definitively' at this point. Given the guy's occupation, I think it's entirely possible that steroids may have been a factor. However, people who don't use steroids have committed the same crime...so who knows? That's what toxicology tests are for. As for comment # 13, how do you know what he would have done for sure if he was using steroids? Are you saying that everyone on steroids is affected in the exact same way and therefore will use the exact same actions?? You and I both know that drugs affect EVERYONE differently based on countless factors, so let's not rule out drugs just based on that...but like I said, let's not accuse the guy of being on drugs when we don't know yet. All that is definite at this point is that it's a very sad situation, an innocent child has died, and the families of those two adults are in mourning. Rest in peace.

59. 38. It sounds like STEROID INDUCED PSYCHOSIS, which is different than 'roid rage.

Posted at 6:40PM on Jun 26th 2007 by Elutian

Bingo poster number 38. I guess we'll be finding out shortly when the toxicology comes back. And, police sources today stated quite a few different prescription drugs were in the home too.

Chris had some type of psychotic episode and likely due to a horrid combination/mix of steroids and rx drugs.

60. The WWE can paint and distort Chri's death any which way they like. But, it'll never disguise the fact that CB is a cold blooded Killer.

Worse yet, WWE knew he'd killed his family yet the paraded CB as a hero and idol last night on a 3 hour special. Stop making the man out to be a hero. Only a monster kills his family!
