WWE: Bibles Prove Benoit Killings Were Not "Roid Rage"

6/26/2007 7:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The WWE is firing back at claims that the murders/suicide by former wrestling champion Chris Benoit were the result of "roid rage."
Click to read!
After local authorities revealed that steroids were found at the chilling murder scene, several media outlets claimed that a violent reaction caused by use of the supplements may have contributed Benoit's murderous behavior. The WWE claims that assumption is pure bulls**t, although they name no criminal, psychopharmaceutical or hormone expert as the source of their claims.

In a statement released to TMZ, WWE reps claim that the proof is in the Bibles left at the feet of Benoit's two victims. "The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage."

The WWE also claims that Benoit tested negative for steroids in the company's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007.

its the wifes fault for not leaving this crazy bastard after filing for divorce and not making her restraining order stick years ago. Ladies, get a clue! She might as well have killed her kid herself - subjecting that boy to years of abuse by the dad. Sick.

That statement is PURE CRAP. As the ex wife of a steroid abuser, let me tell you how this works. They moments of extreme ups, and moments of extreme downs. At their worst, they are monsters to deal with, they are absolutely insane. Saying that strangulation is not a violent enough death to be caused by Roid Rage is just insanely stupid. One night back in 2000 I was standing by a door, my then husband came walking around the corner, we exchanged a few words, and he grabbed me, knocked me down to the floor and wrapped his hands around my neck. Luckily a neighbor stopped him before he killed me, but I can tell you right now that strangulation CAN ABSOLUTELY be a crime of rage, and anyone who says otherwise is trying to cover their ass. Vince McMahon needs to step up and take control of his business, he needs to put a stop to the wrestlers abusing these drugs, he needs to realize that he is partially responsible for these continued acts of stupidity.

Psychos kill their wife and kids, not juice heads.

BTW, in order to "Pass" a WWE steroid test, all you have to do is have a prescription for the steroids. Apparently that makes it ok to abuse drugs that make you absolutely nuts.

I couldn't agree more with your comments Jojo 49 and Ya think 53. Vince and the WWE have some serious explaining to do. And no matter how they want to twist and distort accounablity, the WWE is accounatble for encouraging and promoting anabolic steroid use with no regard for their athletes/performers.

The Special last night and knowing full well Chris had killed his family...well it's just unexcusable behavior for the WWE.

It is so sad! I can't believe that he did this. I love him as a wrestler...... He was AWESOME in the ring but I will never get over this! I thoughts and prayers go out to the family.........

First of all Benoit didnt think fans wanted all the violence

That tells me that not much money and/or turn out came about

Second of all roids changes the mental patterns of humans and all they need is a fight or a strong arguement to act on their rage

Heck, WWE was made from rage

Look at all the rage and the slaughter they use in the storylines?

People getting smashed by chairs and hammers and ladders and trash cans, etc
Smash their noses, smash their faces, break their teeth, legs, knees, arms, and worst of all their heads

It is no longer the traditional grappling and holding and judo type techniques of the 80's and of high school programs

3. Mcmahon make his millions this way
If it all ceases he makes less money
Therefore of course he is going to retract and put on a show
Its his life and business on the line

4. What was the reasoning for Mcmahon to fake his own death?
Was he tired of the business or getting ready to sell?

Last but no least read this reported Monday that Orton allegedly received eight prescriptions for six different drugs -- including stanozolol, nandrolone and testosterone -- between March 2004 and August 2004. According to the documents reviewed, two doctors whose names also appear in Gary Matthews Jr.'s file wrote prescriptions for Orton.

Orton, through the WWE, declined comment, said.

In its review of documents, reported it found Adam Copeland, a.k.a. "Edge," and Shane Helms, a.k.a. "The Hurricane," received HGH from Applied Pharmacy in Mobile, Ala., one of the pharmacies raided in the investigation led by Albany, N.Y., District Attorney David Soares.

Through the WWE, Copeland and Helms didn't respond to a request for comment, said.

WWE spokesman Gary Davis told that WWE policy prohibits performance-enhancing drugs but would not say whether any wrestlers have tested positive since the policy was enacted.

Monday, also reported Arizona doctor David Wilbirt's name has come up in multiple files, including those of Angle, Oscar Gutierrez (stage name Rey Mysterio) and former WWE star Eddie Guerrero, who died in 2005.

Through the WWE, Gutierrez declined comment to about the report that Wilbirt had prescribed him nandrolone and stanozolol.

Wilbirt told he's not practicing medicine now.

"I'll tell you one thing and then this conversation is going to end," Wilbirt told when asked about the professional wrestlers. "They had done blood work and had laboratory work done and they had come to see me."

The bibles don't prove that he wasn't suffering from roid rage... if anything it proves that he was out of his mind at the time, which is what the doctor said on the news conference today; that roid rage causes a person to go through hallucinations and deep depression... if that was the case, Benoit obviously wasn't in his right mind. I love how WWE tries to completely rid their website of everything involving him but they jump on a chance to defend themselves when steroids come into play. April 10 was a long time ago, he could've been using steroids from then until now. WWE just doesn't want to face the questions of why they don't uphold a stricter policy ever since Eddie Guerrero dropped dead.

ftwilliams, reread my post before calling me a moron. I didn't say that no wrestler ever used steriods. I just made the point that not every single wrestler ever has used them. Not every bodybuilder uses steriods. Chris Benoit obviously used anabolic, prescribed steroids since they were in his house. We also know that Chris Benoit suffered a broken neck a couple of years ago which anabolic steroids are prescribed to treat. I never said he didn't abuse them, I never said that there was no way possible for him ever to have used steroids. That's what I love about sites like this, you're automatically a moron, dumb, stupid, should rot in hell, because you have a different opinion from somebody else. Ft, I really pity you. How sad it must be that you are so insecure that you cannot deal with somebody having a different opinion than yourself without calling them names.

"The Wild Child" C.J Parenty

First of all, Chris Benoit was trained by a well respected wrestling family who believed in natural wrestling ability. None of the DIRECT Hart family members (Bret, Owen, Stu) were ever on steriods to boost their athletic ability. Chris Benoit had doctor prescribed anabolic steriods to help relieve pain from his past neck surgury. There is no evidence of steriod use linked to this tragedy. WWE is not defending themselves, they are defending all of professional wrestling from extremely outrageous and blown out of proportion news coverage by Fox News and CNN. Though what Chris has done is bizzare and tragic, the cause is much more internal than steriods.

Roid Rage my ass! You people who assume roids should get a clue and do a little research before you get diarrhea of the mouth! Wait for the facts, don't get fooled by the muscles...

#13 I love you! You beat me to the punch. I also had grown up watching Benoit wrestle and he was an inspiration of how to follow your dreams.

If this was "Roid Rage" the house would have been trashed and his wife and son would have been killed in a more violent fashion.

Ok so it was pre-meditated murder then. that is even more scary!

Kudos to WWE and standing behind one of the tenets of our society - Innocent until proven guilty.

No single one of us, audience, media, even the investigating officers at this point, perhaps, really knows what happened or how it happened... What was going on in Benoit's life and that of his family; what was going on in his head; and most importantly what was going on in his home this past weekend.

This country is in a sad state when everyone is rushing to pin accusations and solve cases they know nothing about.
