69. Serena Wiliams has always been buff. But in this photo she looks more buff than usual. In a recent tournament she called for the ejection of a racist heckler. She has always been under this spotlight and always will because she keeps winning. The Williams sisters have totally different mental approaches to the game. Venus is laid back and surgical; Serena just wants to destroy you. Guys are threatened by aggressive women. Serena's opponents are petrified of her. Richard Williams fostered both daughter's personalities to the height of each of their games.

Her looks? some of these statments are so childish and stupid. Here you have a young lady who, has worked her butt off, trying to make something good of herself and her make a great name for herself. She has trained over the years so that she can live out her dream and we as a race of people are talking about her "LOOKS". This is so sad and meaningless. You have to be strong minded and discipline to do what she has done. I bet some of you who are composing such nasty comments have no clue what it is like to be in top shape. Thanks for the props to us Africans, it's nice when people start recognising our contributions to humanity again, after several hundred years of colonialism and slavery where imperialists put a great effort into denying us (and many other people) our (their) history. According to history books you get in high-school around the world, African history starts with the arrival of the Europeans (as if!), but if you want to know the truth, go to university libraries and you'll find loads of facts and research about very rich and prolific and advanced civilisations. And I'm not just talking ancient Egypt but loads of other ones, such as the Mali Empire for example. So annoying that public education is so slow at picking up academic research.
But anyway! Don't turn Africans into superheroes though. Yes, Serena is strong and of African descent, but let me tell you, I'm African (not African-American, African FROM Africa), and I couldn't catch a tennis ball if my life depended on it. I'm skinny with zero muscles, I have no sense of rhythm and I sing worse than Paris Hilton. Obviously, I'm far from the only one.
Serena's strength is really unusual, I definitely don't think you can attribute it to her race. The reason black people have been dominating the sports lately is socio-economical not physiological. When you are poor, sports are one of the only thing you can easily access. Not saying that Serena was poor but you get my point. Remember when black people were considered to be physiologically unfit for boxing? Then a black man won the world title and all of a sudden black people had "the perfect genes for boxing"!
This genes talk is crap. Race means nothing. It's serena's determination and hard work that make her who she is.
