213. Alcohol abuse like drug abuse is a sickness and needs to be treated as such. Lindsey will get probation like every other first time offender. If she screws up again like Tom Sizemore she will face the slammer.

214. My own daughter recieved a DUI last year when she was 20. In the state of California that is an automatic 1 year suspension of your drivers license if you are under 21. She was required to go before a panel of MADD to hear others that have been impacted in someway due to personal experiences, unfortunatley in most cases, it is to hear somebody who's loved one was killed or wheelchair handicapped. She received 3 years probation, community service, drug and alcohol counseling, was required to write a 500 word essay and for the average american the financial cost is significant. That is exactly the way it should be! Miss Lindsey should receive whatever the "law" states for her charges and should not get special treatment in anyway. We all know she will not be financially devastated, but hope that the judge in her case give will give her what she deserves and feel it should be at least what my daughter did and more if cocaine was involved! Rehab is great if it is what "Lindsey" wanted for herself. Hopefully she is not doing it just to get around the legal system, which could be the case. She can afford good legal advice. There are too many people young and old on our roads intoxicated and it's just a matter of time before each of them get thier own wake up call. I am 46 now and look back and know I was lucky I did'nt get caught, but maybe that was what I needed. It all comes down to each individual, we are each responsible for our own actions. Now will Lindsey be...we can only hope that she will turn a negative into a positive and be a responsible role model and get her life on track. Everything happens for a reason, but are we willing to learn from it?

216. Response to # 9. I think going to rehab for two months will help her case-she is a 1st time offender so she should get let off easily - as most first time offenders do.

However, since it is a high profile case, she may get the max sentence- as did Paris Hilton. Paris spend MUCH more time in jail than anyone would -Michelle Rodriquez spent about 2 hrs in jail for the same offense.

i hope that does not happen to lindsay - hopefully she can turn her life around - it does seem like she went to rehab on her own free will - its not like her mother dragged her there - the only reason her mom first went to visit was to avoid a custody hearing the same day. I think in order for her to get better she really needs to cut her family out of her life for a while, find a real support system and some better friends!

I don't feel bad for any of these girls who get in trouble, except for Lindsay. She is clearly the product of a dysfunctional family, and hopefully she will get the therapy she needs in rehab.

Sorry dear, but not ALL young people are like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. I have 3 college age daughters who have never drank outside of trying a glass of wine when my oldest turned 21 (she hated it), they have never smoked, never felt the need to go out and party all night long or sleep around to feel loved. Why? Because they were raised in a loving family who took time to listen to them, do things with them, support them, pray for them and not be afraid to do goofy things with them.

Dina Lohan, Lynn Spears and Kathy Hilton are sorry examples of parents. They are partially to blame for allowing their daughters to live without boundaries, without taking responsibility for their actions and, for Lohan and Spears, pushing them into the spotlight for selfish reasons. They are guilty of child neglect.....because it was more important to them to live off their daughter's fame rather than tell them "NO!".

Not all kids feel the need to rebel. I am blessed that my kids didn't feel that need, that we are close, and that they trust me enough to be honest with me. I set boundaries for them, told them no, taught them to be responsible and that there are consequences for every choice you make.

223. Clean record, first offense, nobody but herself hurt in crash=no time. She's not in rehab to stay out of jail but it will probably help her in court. Being underaged she could lose her license for 3 years but will probably cop to reckless driving and lose license for a year and get probation. Can't really compare her to Paris as she's being very responsible right now and Paris was not and that's why the court threw the book at Paris-you don't laugh at the law! Perhaps, cuz coke was in her system, may have to do random drug testing. I think Lindsay is more concerned with getting her life together now and will be ready to accept whatever the court gives her. She needs to stay away from her mom, big time!!
