Celebrity Justice
Francis Named in Sexual Harassment Suit

Joe FrancisA former employee of Mantra Films and Girls Gone Wild has filed a lawsuit against the two companies -- along with Joe Francis and another individual -- claiming sexual harassment, sexual battery and various unfair business practices. Employers gone wild?!

Tranae Hammond claims that shortly after she began working for Mantra Films and Girls Gone Wild, she was the victim of repeated acts of sexual harassment by a supervisor named Ron (she doesn't know his last name). According to court papers filed today, those acts included touching and massaging of her shoulders and arms, frequent conversations about sex in front of her, and on at least one occasion, Ron allegedly "tapped [Hammond's] buttocks with a clipboard."

Hammond alleges that after she made claims of sexual harassment, she was subjected to a "hostile environment" and was eventually terminated.

Francis is not accused of any direct sexual harassment, but rather he "improperly managed, controlled and dominated Mantra Films, Inc. and Girls Gone Wild as his alter ego, agent and instrumentality." Smack THAT!

The suit also makes class action claims of failure to pay overtime, failure to provide required meal and rest periods and failure to maintain required records.

A rep for Francis did not immediately return calls for comment.

23. ASTEADYRAIN...

While I agree with your comment...to a point...I have to add, that when you play with fire, you're bound to get burned!

No one DESERVES to be raped, abused, or harassed (in any manner), but when you put yourself in a "compromising position" especially around people and in environments that are conducive to immoral behavior, then, you really shouldn't be surprised if something like this happens to you!

I don't think I have ever heard of a LEGITIMATE case of rape/abuse/harassment against a woman who was 1.) dressed appropriately, 2.) NOT hanging around with a morally corrupt crowd, 3.) NOT working in a male dominated or oriented field/locale (business, sports facility, etc.), 4.) NOT in a "bad" part of town...alone...taking a short cut, and/or 5.) NOT high/drunk/off her medication or otherwise.

Women have somehow decided that they are entitled to go anywhere, wear anything, and otherwise be irresponsible in their decision making, and expect that they will emerge unscathed. Sorry, but in the REAL world, you have to keep your wits about you.

Besides, based on "the court papers" this woman's case sounds EXTREMELY weak at best. Sounds like she's just looking for a nice "payday."

24. God thanks, I am now back in Europe and will never have to experience TRUE SLAVERY in high tech American buildings, litterally! I am a French woman who has worked for Mantra in Los Angeles, near the Airport (They moved then from Santa Monica). Unfortunately, I could not find a place or an ear to listen to what was going on on Mantra. Worst, Mantra left me in such financial problems that I was evicted from my house and had to leave with my daughter in my car, eating bread and drinking water fontain every time we could find one. Their thanks for my hard work ( I was selling good as I speak also Spanish) Mantra made me go back and forth for over 2 months, at least 3 times a week to give me my last pay check with: "Next time, for sure you will get your paycheck".
If you are defending Mantra, you have no idea what you are talking about. I will always remember with deep hurt:
- How the workers had to send up when they could not get 3 credit card numbers in an hour. A woman near me was sick, over 50 and overweight, they just pulled her chair out...I still cry when thinking at it. I will never forget how she kept her composure and voice calm, STRUGGLED TO HOLD HERSELF STRAIGHT. I held myself ready to run to her rescue if she collapsed while I myself started secretely to cry. I think that vision made me cry for at least 3 days, everytime I could be alone and wonder forever why do they say America is a super power, although I love the USA, where I just spent 8 years with all my heart!.
- In Mantra 2006, It was then not authorized to go and get water AT WISH while calling, and it had to be drunk near the water cooler, they said ' we might mess up with their computers". Once you had one small drink in those paper glass and tried to get another one 1 hour later, you were sent back to your desk, by Mantra managers acting like pittbulls. Hiding a drink in the clothes was useless, because they were at least 10 cameras on me alone when working. Also, if you could not get a number of credit card number in a certain time, they shortened the lunch or the break time IN HALF or CANCELLED IT on a un-lucky days. Selling porns DVD by phone does not mean being a half human being. It is just a product for a sales representatives, who has the obligation to earn his life wherever it works. It is true that the sexual remarks which were officially forbidden where still expressed by managers who started a little persecution game to the ones who did not want to respond to it: beautiful smart girls. What shocked me the most is that no one talked publically about those scandalous practises in this 21 century. Maybe like me they looked for a place to do so, but were unsuccessfull just like me and did no want to end up sleeping in a car.

25. You work for a porn company. They show girls having sex with each other. About the pay and other issues I don't know. BUT YOU WORK FOR A PORN COMPANY.

If you work for GM they'll talk about cars, If you work for Wendy's they'll talk about food.
If you work for a porn cpmpany they'll talk about.....SEX.

26. #25, you are flat-out contradicting yourself.

First you claim that no one deserves to be raped, abused or sexually harassed, but then you say that working for the wrong company or being in the wrong situation should make women expect this sort of thing to happen to them. WTF?

Don't even get me started on how misogynists like you always blame the victim: "She shouldn't have worn that dress..."

Joe Francis is a tool and nobody should be working for him, but that doesn't mean his female employees deserve sexual harassment. Dumbass.

27. Correcting my post 28, "how the workers were punished by having to stand up for hours".
Selling these DVD's has nothing to do with "little whores". The condition who made me accept to work in Mantra is that at the first training day, they say clearly that anyone who will even let ANY SEXUAL REMARK, INNUENDO, ATTITUDE against a Colleague will be fired, without warning. Until I had to understand that "Colleague" does not include "Manager". In our time in the USA, companies like Mantra should not be allowed to exist thanks to people who just write down "little whores", while the Owner of Mantra is laughing all the way to the bank. THE MORAL DILEMNA OF TAKING PEOPLE CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND KEEPING BILLING THEM EVEN IT THEY CANCEL, BECAUSE THE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT TAKE THEM OUT OF THEIR DATABASE, EVEN WHEN I INSISTED. THE FACT THAT I HAVE BEEN USED TO DESTROY PEOPLE CREDIT HISTORY, IS SOMETHING I THINK AND TALK ABOUT ALMOST EVERY DAY.
THE WOMAN WHO IS SUING IS A BRAVE STRONG INTEGER WOMAN, NOBODY DARED TO DO SO. I HOPE SHE READS THIS AND DON'T GET INTIMIDATED BY IDIOT COMMENTS OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A HEART OR A BRAIN OR BY THE PITBULLS OF MANTRA. FOR YOUR INFORMATION, THE SCRIPT INTENDED TO GET THE CREDIT CARDS NUMBERS HAD NO SEXUAL OR INDECENT CONTENT, AT LEAST WHEN I WAS IN MANTRA IN 2006. TO INSULT THIS PLAINTIF WOMAN, IS ACTUALLY HELPIMG THEIR OWNER TO LEAVE IN MANSIONS AND PARTY WITH PARIS, WHILE YOU YOURSELF DON'T HAVE A LIFE.

28. Does anyone buy those videos anymore, what a waste of money.

29. Number 25 - You obviously do not follow the news or the legal system. "I don't think I have ever heard of a LEGITIMATE case of rape/abuse/harassment against a woman who was 1.) dressed appropriately, 2.) NOT hanging around with a morally corrupt crowd, 3.) NOT working in a male dominated or oriented field/locale (business, sports facility, etc.), 4.) NOT in a "bad" part of town...alone...taking a short cut, and/or 5.) NOT high/drunk/off her medication or otherwise."

There are thousands upon thousand of rape, abuse and harassment cases that are legitimate by your definition. Strangers breaking into someones home and raping them. Office workers propositioned by their employers with threats of being fired if they don't comply. However, your definition is ridiculous. Just because someone wears clothing that is sexy or works in a make dominate field or is on a public road that happens to be in a "bad" neighborhood (maybe they even live in the neighborhood because they can't afford to live anywhere else or they are unfamiliar with the area or maybe it is just the fastest way to get where they are going and it is a public street) does not mean someone is entitled to rape, harass or abuse them.

In case you have forgotten, women are citizens and people and yes they are entitled to wear what they want and go anywhere they want. It does not mean that they are being "irresponsible in their decision making."

I do not know whether the sexual harassment suit has merit - if you are working in the sex industry, yes there will be talk about sex but if that talk is specifically directed to a person and there is groping and/or other unwelcome touching it is sexual harassment.

No means no - it does not matter what you wear, where you work, where you are or what you drank. Yes a person has to take responsiblity for themselves but that does not give someone else the right to violate them.

As for leaving the suit open, the only part of the suit "left open" is the one regarding the fair employment practices - break times, overtime etc.. Number 28, you should find out about joining the class action.
