Paris Hilton and Scooter Libby have one (and probably only one) thing in common -- "excessive" sentencing -- but it's Paris, not Scooter, who actually did the time. Nice to have some friendly Bush on your side!

President Bush commuted the 2-1/2 year sentence of longtime White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby yesterday, calling Libby's punishment "excessive" -- just as Paris said of her own summertime slammer-time. Libby was busted for leaking a CIA agent's identity, putting her life in jeopardy. Aside from more than a few fashion disasters, Hilton was convicted of what some considered a glorified traffic violation. And who gets the free pass?

Most Americans aren't sympathetic to Paris and Scooter. When TMZ asked whether Paris got what she deserved, an overwhelming 93 percent of the more than 121,000 people who answered the poll responded that yes, Ms. Hilton deserved to do time for the crime. Similarly, most Americans think Libby should've done his too: A SurveyUSA poll revealed that 60 percent of Americans believe that Scooter Libby's 2-1/2 year sentence should stick. It didn't.

Most Americans don't know anything about the Scooter case........he was charged with perjury for not remembering what he said years ago to Russett........this case stems from a paper pushing behind the desk CIA woman who sent her husband abroad without any authority at all..........after his fact finding mission, he found nothing. Just a left wing conspiracy..........

79. #12. Scooter Libby was convicted of obstruction of justice. He lied to federal agents investigating who leaked Valerie Plame's name to the press. He was not "busted for leaking a CIA agent's identity" as you incorrectly stated in your article.

Duh. You don't think his lying to a grand jury was not enough that you have to point out he "was not busted for leaking a CIA agents identity" to keep your simple mind satiated? Are you retarded? Do you watch FOX (News)? A doorstop has more going on for it that you do you silly simpleton. You don't have "ED" you have "MD" mind dysfunction. You want to direct attention away from the obvious to something more obscure to keep the 'little people' happy. If I were Paris I would be fuming that I had to do more time for a stupid DUI than if I had lied to a grand jury in regard to first amendment rights! This country is going into the toilet. I guess all these years of underfunding public schools is finally paying off....people are as ignorant as ever!

80. Libby was the fall guy in a "conspiracy" to release Valerie Plame's name. She was at a desk at the CIA when the info was released, she was never in any danger.

81. Scooter Libby was not convicted of leaking that Plame bimbo's name, he was convicted of perjury and I would say he was entrapped by a witchunt by Liberlas who not take their orders from Moveon.Org - the radical left.

Armitage at the State Department is the one who first leaked Plame's name.
Plame herself is not a real CIA agent, she was more of a file clerk.

Ms Hilton was convicted and condemned by the court of public opinion- of which Gov Swarzeneggar deciced to submit too.

If there is any real justice for poor Paris, it is that hypocrit of a prosecutor is ot facing ethics charges of his own. The editorial page of the L.A. Times has now called for his resignation.

82. Oh please, I'm a democrat and I really think Libby was framed, they need a scapegoat and he was handy. We democrats should be very careful to condem Bush, when Clinton pardon drug dearlers...Live and let live...There is to much hate in this country and I will not follow this trend.

Trust me when I say I am no fan of Bush, Libby, Fox News, Republicans. My point was more to TMZ than the facts of the case. TMZ couldn't report their way out of a paper bag unless it had to do with Britney's hair extensions When they attempt to do a "real" story they don't have the facts straight. I guess this goes to show that these posts can be tricky to interpret. As far as the name calling...my man...ease up..I think I'm your side on this.

I think the whole world is after the Bush Administration and the Democracts, the Prosecutors are after the Bush Administration from day one.

I feel sorry for Libby Scooter for all the wrong charges, the fine and the penalty put on him. but I am so glad that President Bush stood up and did the right thing.

I am praying for you President Bush and Mr. Libby Scooter, I pray that God will opey the way for President Bush to give you a full pardon and that you don't have to pay that whopping $250,0000 fine and that your good name will be cleared.
