Al Gore's Son Busted!

Al Gore IIIAl Gore III, the 24-year-old son of Al Gore was arrested on suspicion of drug possession today. The former second-in-command's son was pulled over after allegedly driving his Prius 100 miles an hour down an Orange County freeway. (At least he was driving a Prius!) When deputies searched the car they found pot, along with Valium, Xanax, Vicodin and Adderall. He is currently being held at the Santa Ana Inmate Reception Center on $20,000 bail.

This isn't Gore III's first arrest. He was charged with marijuana possession in 2003 and was ticketed for reckless driving in 2000 and 2002.

61. 5. Pot shouldn't be illegal in the first place, so big deal. People who smoke it regularly don't get intoxicated like you do when you're drunk, so it's not as if he was drinking & driving. Mixing it with prescription drugs can make you drowsy, though, so hopefully he wasn't using the Xanax & Valium before driving.

Jesus, where do you come from? You sound like one of those arrogant 15 year old kids that think smoking pot is not taking drugs. "People who smoke it regularly don't get intoxicated like you do when you're drunk, so it's not as if he was drinking & driving". WTF?

OK Ally, I guess it's education time for you. You obviously haven't thought this through, and are just rationalizing your own dope smoking, so please read this clearly. Smoking pot is a delivery vehicle for the DRUG THC. This DRUG affects the nervous system's flow of nueroreceptors (temporarily short circuiting it), and causes impaired judgement. Doesn't matter if the person is drunk or stoned; both cause impaired judgement, and impaired judgement is what causes accidents. I know of 5 people, friends from when I was growing up, who died because they got stoned, got in a car, couldn't react to situations presented to them & got in major accidents. So, your statement that it's not the same doesn't hold an ounce of water.

Next time, please think your arguements through before you post here. it'll be less embarrassing for you later on. Instead of just repeating what your friends are saying, you should instead use your brain & think things out for yourself. Now, run on home & do your homework...

62. [[[[[ It's okay, Stan. Do you still think Saddam had WMDs? Feel free to link to any valid research discrediting Global Warming.]]]]]

There is a ton of GW research, check it out for yourself. It's not all one sided. And many scientists are apalled at the pressure and hype to jump on the bandwagon. Note also that some scientists quoted are in fact scientists...but are quoted on things OUTSIDE their field. For example why not quote a geologist about cloud patterns this year? Is that valid? They can have an opinion, but not one backed by their credentials.

For example, many scientists realize that Mt Kilimanjaro has less ice/snow on it because the high humidity forests nears it's base were cut down. The humidity is the source of the snow cover!

Or that lake that vanished with the ship sitting there...folks in the area vividly remember how angry everyone was when the Russians diverted the river that feeds it according to their own needs (the water went elsewhere). Later when it dries up why is that fact ignored?

If Al Gore did not know the two things above, WHY NOT? If he did and chose to ignore them, WHY?

Here is a recent newspaper article whose references you can dig into further if you'd like:

http://www.suntimes.com/news/otherviews/450392,CST-EDT-REF30b.article

There are many more. But they won't be found in Al Gore's material. Or the glove box of his son's Prius.

64. It'll be interesting to see how older Al Gore reacts to this. I think we'll get a true undiluted measure of who the real Al Gore is here. Will he try to pull a paris hilton parents move (hire the heavy hitter attorney, deny everything, pull all sorts of legal moves & manuevers), or will he simply be a parent & support his kid but let justice be served? Maybe more than anything, this will tell us who he really is...

65. This kid was hit by a car and terribly injured when he was 10 years old. Maybe was impacted by that. All the other kids in this family are normal upstanding citizens. With 4 kids it's bound that one will have some problems.

66. the only sad thing is the prescription drugs thing... i thought his family is against big pharmaceutical companies?..

67. In 1989 young Al almost died from a fatal car accident...perhaps this is where his alledged drug problem stems from. Until we know all the facts, it's very easy to make snide and rude comments.

As someone who lost their brother to suicide due to his own drug addiction, my heart goes out to the Gores and I hope Al gets the help he needs. In my own case, we had no idea that my brother was addicted to Oxycontin until we got the autopsy results.

68. 2 thoughts:

1) I didn't know a Prius could make it up to 100mph (maybe, downhill in a hurricane?)...

2) If he was driving on the 55 freeway, his speed doesn't surprise me. When I was living down in the LA area, the 55 was known as the "Orange County Autobahn". Many a time I was driving well over the posted limit (even in the far right hand lane) and some big Mercedes Benz or other tank would pull up right behind me & start flashing their lights for me to move over. Driving south on that freeway was ALWAYS an adventure; the only way to avoid problems was to drive like a maniac at WAY excessive speed. So, maybe he was just trying to avoid trouble... :)

70. It is obvious that Karl Rove is behind this. This is another evil plan to embarass Gore as a potential democratic contender for next year. I know for a fact that he gave Gore's kids the dope and then super glued his gas pedal to the floor. Now if you were a Republican and this was about Clinton, you would believe it. Maybe Bush can pardon him? He seems to have the pen out this week. Haven't we suspended all criminal laws in this country along with all of the various amendments of the constitution?
When Cheney is tried, will he have to try himself? And what shall be the punishment if he is convicted? Will he send himself overseas for some interrogation and re-education at the hands of our paid torture associates?
I have seen the enemy and it is us
