Al Gore's Son Busted!

Al Gore III, the 24-year-old son of Al Gore was arrested on suspicion of drug possession today. The former second-in-command's son was pulled over after allegedly driving his Prius 100 miles an hour down an Orange County freeway. (At least he was driving a Prius!) When deputies searched the car they found pot, along with Valium, Xanax, Vicodin and Adderall. He is currently being held at the Santa Ana Inmate Reception Center on $20,000 bail.

This isn't Gore III's first arrest. He was charged with marijuana possession in 2003 and was ticketed for reckless driving in 2000 and 2002.

77. In 1989 young Al almost died from a fatal car accident...perhaps this is where his alledged drug problem stems from. Until we know all the facts, it's very easy to make snide and rude comments.

As someone who lost their brother to suicide due to his own drug addiction, my heart goes out to the Gores and I hope Al gets the help he needs. In my own case, we had no idea that my brother was addicted to Oxycontin until we got the autopsy results.

78. 2 thoughts:

1) I didn't know a Prius could make it up to 100mph (maybe, downhill in a hurricane?)...

2) If he was driving on the 55 freeway, his speed doesn't surprise me. When I was living down in the LA area, the 55 was known as the "Orange County Autobahn". Many a time I was driving well over the posted limit (even in the far right hand lane) and some big Mercedes Benz or other tank would pull up right behind me & start flashing their lights for me to move over. Driving south on that freeway was ALWAYS an adventure; the only way to avoid problems was to drive like a maniac at WAY excessive speed. So, maybe he was just trying to avoid trouble... :)

81. It is obvious that Karl Rove is behind this. This is another evil plan to embarass Gore as a potential democratic contender for next year. I know for a fact that he gave Gore's kids the dope and then super glued his gas pedal to the floor. Now if you were a Republican and this was about Clinton, you would believe it. Maybe Bush can pardon him? He seems to have the pen out this week. Haven't we suspended all criminal laws in this country along with all of the various amendments of the constitution?
When Cheney is tried, will he have to try himself? And what shall be the punishment if he is convicted? Will he send himself overseas for some interrogation and re-education at the hands of our paid torture associates?
