Celebrity Feuds
TMZ's Small Mistake -- Big Trouble

Hell hath no fury like a little person misidentified.
Wee Man and Brad Williams
Or so we found out when we mistook Wee Man aka Jason Acuna of "Jackass" fame (inset, above) for Brad Williams, a similarly height-challenged performer and frequent comic collaborator with Carlos Mencia (main photo). Williams was spotted leaving L.A.'s Laugh Factory with Carlos a few nights ago, but in our recounting of the encounter, it seems we were a little confused.

Williams snapped back at us in an email, with an appropriately abbreviated reply: "All dwarfs do not look the same. What are we, Asian?" Actually, yes Brad. The TMZ writer you are referring to is Asian, Korean to be specific.

Apologies to all who were and are offended.

UPDATE: Williams' comrade-in-comedy-arms Carlos Mencia writes to tell TMZ that it's really no big deal: "Don't feel bad TMZ, I know Brad and I sometimes make the same mistake. It could have been worse, you could have called him an Oompa-Loompa."

17. Actually, there is a medical condition called facial recognition disorder. I wondered for years why I didn't remember some people, having never used drugs at all or drunk alcohol to any extent. So, yes, unless I know them well, I do get people confused.

22. There are different kinds of dwarfisms. No they don't all look alike. TMZ's
wording was still offensive as an apology. Let Brad earn a living. He has the same rights as anyone else to do so. It does'nt matter whether it's height, weight, color, gender, money, there is always some a**holes ready to spread their hatred. LET IT GO!

26. Was the Asian swipe really necessary? Dwarfs and dwarves are both correct. They are used interchangeably. Actually, if a person does not socialize with a group of people often enough, one can easily get confused with faces. It doesn't matter whether the group is Asian, Caucasian, or dwarfs/dwarves.

27. To Lacey: You should get a sense of humor before you speak... he was making a joke, duh, he's a comedian... it's his job to be politically incorrect and offensive...and he's hilarious.

and shouldn't tmz.com know by now that williams is the "midget" on mencia's show and not wi-man?

28. I'm a server at an Improv comedy club in Orange County and Williams performed on Tuesday night... one of his jokes was about not being an Oompa Loompa, not representing the Lollipop Guild, and not being Wee Man... he went on to say something about the audience thinking he was Wee Man up until the very second he said he wasn't. It was really funny and, now that I've read this, probably a result of TMZ's mistake!

29. Its ironic that he was trying to correct a misconception with another misconception. This is one of the stereotypes for Asians that really makes me angry.
