Criminal Probe Into Anna's Prescriptions

TMZ has learned the California Department of Justice (DOJ) is conducting a criminal investigation into several doctors who prescribed various medicines to Anna Nicole Smith.

Sources tell TMZ the DOJ's Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement has contacted Larry Birkhead, Big Mo (Anna's bodyguard) and others. We're told DOJ is particularly interested in two doctors -- Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor. TMZ broke the story that Dr. Kapoor prescribed methadone to Anna under an assumed name when she was eight months pregnant. Dr. Eroshevich ordered a virtual pharmacy of drugs for Anna, five days after her son Daniel died.

Dr. Eroshevich, who was in the Bahamas with Anna, sent the prescription wish list to Dr. Kapoor. Kapoor's attorney, Ellyn Garofalo, told TMZ "Dr. Kapoor declined the request for prescriptions. He would never prescribe that combination of drugs, in such large dosages, to any patient."

The Medical Board of California launched its own investigation of the two doctors earlier this year. That investigation is pending.

By the way, TMZ has learned Dr. Kapoor is in the process of having twins via a surrogate.

17. What the hell is a "STERN PAID BLOGGER"? Does some wacko actually think Stern pays for people to back him? IF YOU HAD ANY SENSE AND COULD READ YOU WOULD KNOW HOWARD HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANNA'S DEATH..ANNA TOOK TOO MUCH C.H I THINK SHE WOKE UP AND TOOK SOME MORE AND IT KILLED HER. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Is it really that hard to see it? I do think Kris had her on too many sedatives and the C.H on top of those just added to her sedation and finally she slipped away. We know Anna swigged C.H from a cup and it would be soooo easy to take too much. I will not try to convince Howard haters and their nutty ideas of anything different I could really care less. But to think there are paid bloggers is a bit nuts and you are nuts for thinking that.

About time, all Doctors should be reviewed, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law when they randomly prescribe lethal narcotis and mind altering drugs to unwary patients or addicts in massive doses that wind up like this case, they are as responsible as those that adminstered the meds in the first place and held accountabble under the law.
Here we go again, Howrd and D. e. your in real trouble now, Moe-after your wife went on Greta your likewise in deep S------!!!

20. Well I personally think that Kris had wayyy too many sedatives prescribed to Anna at one time. I mean there is no reason to have klonipin,atavan,xanax and the others. After finding my mother dead following her suicide I was on xanax for about 3 months at night time. But damn that was enough to knock me on my ass and that was only 0.5 miligrams! How in the hell could Anna keep going on all those. And why wouldnt she just up the xanax instead of prescribing more and more of these "tranquilizers"? I wonder was Kris counceling Anna? Was she fully aware of what to take and when? Methadone is safe for use during pregnancy so Kapoor I don't think that is going to affect him. And if he refused the filling of all those scripts then I think that shows he had sense.

What the hell kind of DR'S prescribes Methadone to a Pregnant woman, her son dies from the very same drug. Then a DR prescribes lethal combinations of sedatives in HKS name the very drugs that kills ANS!
