Mom to Brit -- I Have Rights Too!

Lynne Spears, Britney SpearsBritney Spears wants her mom, Lynne, to stay a country mile away from her kids. But the combination to the code that could give Lynne some serious legal firepower is 3104.

Specifically, Section 3104 of California's Family Code gives judges the power to award visitation rights to grandparents. Judges consider two factors -- if there's a preexisting relationship between the grandparent and the grandchildren -- in Lynne's case, there is.

The judge will also balance the benefits the child will get from visiting grandma against the rights of the parents to exercise their parental authority.

Here's where it gets interesting. If both parents nix the notion of grandma having visitation, there's a strong presumption the judge should deny grandma's request. So K-Fed may be critical if Lynne takes it to the judge. If Fed sides with Lynne, she'd have a shot.

17. Britney@! GET A GOOD PUBLICIST~ You have to stop allowing this crap to hit the media...... You need POSITIVE PR. Save yourself, the rag mags are making you the main target and you need to but on the brakes ASAP. I really feel for you and understand if you mother told your children something that pained you, now you are a mother too though and you know we all are not perfect and make mistakes, she IS your only mother, lover her, despite her faults and forgive her and move on. I really hope you read this know people still like you and admire you despite your mistakes, you can turned this around and do like Madonna has always done-LAND ON YOUR FEET. I wish you all the best and took the time to write this in hopes you do read it and do something for YOU.

22. I AM GONNA PLAY DEVILS ADVOCATE HERE.

Parents should have the right to say who gets to visit their children. Not all grand parents should be around their grand children. There is no way to know why thechange of heart with britinay we have no way to know what has gone on behind closed doors. Everyone should just deal with their own drama.

A dear friend of mine is FORCED to let her skeezy sexually abusive father see her children. Why because she didn't report it and apparently her horrific tale of rape and sexual abuse wasn't enough to sway the jack ass judge. Now she fears that one day when she gets her kids back from their visti with "grandpa" they will have somethingdone tothem they can never really get over.

Parents should decide who is around their children and when. All of you should just mind your own business. And quit treating Star and Enquire magazine's like they preach the gospal.

I have a 13 yr old daughter, and if ten years from now she's running around with whores, partying pantiless, ignoring her two small children at home, you better believe that I'm going to step in and make sure she's evaluated by professionals. Lynn isn't able to make a diagnosis as to the condition of her daughter. It was (and still is) painfully obvious that Britney has some serious issues that need to be addressed. I completely and fully support her mother for taking the steps neccessary to protect those children... and someday, I hope, Britney realizes that her mother was trying to protect her as well.

I am 9 years sober. Thank God someone stepped in for me and my daughter.

I'm just hoping for another ANS-style circus. I could just picture Britney showing up to the hearing in one of those ugly muumuus with one breast hanging out and a Red Bull in one hand, Cheetos in the other hand and bitching out Alli because she forgot to pack the Marlboros.

27. I do not side with Brit on this one. Any good parent knows you do what you have to for your child - even if it's not popular. Brit will see that her mother's actions were loving and caring - she may not see it today because of her arrogance, but perhaps when her little boys are grown up and she faces a similar situation. Brit needs to grow up. Just because you have 2 children doesn't mean you are responsible - it just means you know how to spread your legs. Live-Love-Learn!

28. Alesia, your dear friend can have supervised visits. No law says it has to be overnight with a grandparent. I am a single parent - I know my rights and my child's rights. Children need their grandparents too - rapists excluded. She doesn't have to put them in his hands and hope for the best.
