Hook-ups
My Big Fat French Wedding

There's nothing desperate about Eva Longoria & Tony Parker's wedding this weekend in Paris. Rumors are that the pint-sized beauty's $30,000 wedding cake was going to be made by chef Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings, who made the cake for Oprah's 50th. Rather than fly the cake from Napa Valley to Paris, Tony put his spur down and demanded the cake be made in France! Enough dough!

The reception will be held at the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, which rents for the princely sum of $50,000 -- for just five hours! What if the couple wants to party all night? That'll cost 'em extra. Although it appears that the newlyweds needn't worry about cost -- TMZ has confirmed OK! magazine is paying $2 million for exclusive wedding pics that include the honeymoon. Cha-ching!

VIP wedding guests Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher and Mario Lopez are jetting to France aboard a private plane chartered by Eva and Tony. We checked with Luxury Air Jets (not the one Eva used) to find out what that would cost, and they told us that a similar plane to a 757 would cost upwards of $165,000 -- each way -- not including food!

The couple registered at Tiffany for items ranging from a silver scalloped bowl -- for the bargain price of $1500 -- to silver swizzle sticks for $100. Keepin' it simple.

Celebrity wedding planner Lisa Vorce of Oh, How Charming! has planned numerous celeb nuptials, including actress Jeri Ryan's, which was also in France. She says, "The average person can dream of things like wearing custom couture, riding in a vintage Rolls Royce to the Oscars, and drinking the finest champagne -- for some celebrities, these great parties and the fine food and wine are way of life. Nothing seems outrageous to me in the celeb wedding world. If they want a $30,000 cake, then get them one!"

Eva and Tony did get one break when Longoria's mane man, Ken Paves, did her hair up for free -- his gift to her.

46. What is wrong with some of you. What business of yours is it how much these folks spend on their wedding, where they choose to hold it, and what the cake cost. It takes nothing away from you, and gives employment to people, and bottom line, why are you so mean-spirited. It wold appear that you have nothing better to do than snipe and say nasty things. And, if they stay married for three years, or thirty, are you really going to lose sleep over that.??. Perhaps you need to get yourselves some sort of meaningful life, and leave the newlyweds alone..Here's to them, and everyone else who got married today. Good luck and good life!!!

Of course, I wish Tony and Eva the best of luck on the marriage. But, do the so-called "stars" have any clue how lucky they are? And yes, it is their money and they did work for it, but, damn, the cost of this thing is over the top. In a million years I could never imagine living a life with such oppulance. Physicians, Nobel prize winners, and engineers will never see this kind of money. The big money is in entertainment and sports. How unfair is this?

48. Even though I have a major crush on Tony, I hope that they make this marriage last. Unfortunately, the odds are against them according to what people have been saying. It would be nice to prove all of the haters wrong!!!

55. Lots of jealousy here! If people are lucky enough to be in a profession that pays well, they have every right to spend their money however they want. If you don't like it then get your own job and make your own money.

56. To me a marriage is like a business deal. If most ppl took the time to treat their marriage as important as their (paying) jobs and look at divorce as though it's not a option more marriages would last longer (past the 7 year itch). When one starts a business it's an investment that one takes the time to make to grow and prosper each day. Why don't ppl take that time on a marriage. We know when we have kids that that is at least a 18+yr investment. Thinking of marriage as a business deal does not take any romance out of it. It means that both ppl r willing to invest and keep it growing. It's a win win. Even when u r married and don't feel the above stated views. No one is in love everyday to thier spouse. Does not mean u don't love or respect them. Just means that partners in business don't give up because the deal did not go their way on any given day. I have only been married for 10 years and I am not rich in money but rich in my investment (husband and kids = family).

58. Complaining about this wedding only shows that you have read about it and know what it's all about. Then you turn around and complain that it's getting so much attention. If people would ignore it would there be anything to write about?. hmmmmmmmmmmm think about it. The complainers are part of the problem of giving this story more attention than its worth. Myself, I wish them the best. Who's to say they don't give hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities.

59. Seriously, can't these two find something better to do with all that money? Really Eva...really? Really Tony, come on!!! Charity perhaps? Disgusting ghetto-fabulous dsplay of wealth. Unfortunately, the amount of money that you/others spend on your wedding is not directly correlated with the amount of happiness that you have in your marriage or the amount of time that you are married. These two are the reasons that Europeans laugh at Americans/people that live in America (like Tony).
