John Mayer Blogs Out, Goes Green

Ever wonder what's going on in John Mayer's big ol' head? As a part of the Live Earth "concert series for a climate in crisis," Mayer's been blogging his thoughts on climate change. Climb right into Mayer's large cranium!

Here's what
Mayer wrote about the event a couple of days ago:

"I hope that for all the cynicism that's existed around this subject, we can all uncross our arms long enough to give this event a chance to impact the world in the way that I'm beginning to feel that it could. Now isn't the time to dissect the rights and wrongs. (If you're hoping Live Earth doesn't work, you have a lot of soul-searching to do.)

With this kind of lineup, there's no cause or crisis that wouldn't be positively affected by an event of this scope. Live Earth isn't a show - it's a showing, a presentation of an idea. Artists like us don't just get together to each play 20 minute sets every weekend, you know. We're also usually pretty sensitive about the order in which we take the stage, and I've got no problems with my 5:12 PM set time. The Police, Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, and yes, myself and my dumb face are all openers for the true headliner - the power to literally change the world's mind."

So inspirational! Wonder what ex Jess thinks about Mayer's do-good-ing green scene.

5. It's good that celebs take concern for things bigger than they are such as climate
change and creating awareness of the situation, but it is also important that they
act the part too, such as clean energy or hybrid cars, solar panels for the home as
well as energy efficient appliances, insulation and windows.

6. How dumb is he? First do not waste your money on any music paraphernalia that kills trees. uses power, and pollutes the earth with it's creation.., or spare any battery power, gas, oil or electricty to hear it

7. soooooo glad he left that dumb bimbo...she's no good...didn't like her w/ nick either......it's good to see that the ego has left the building for all the celebs that are gathering for a time slot, that's refreshing.......and to #4, maybe the car he drives is not such a big deal, if he's making other changes (like throwing hos trach away and recycling) so many people still litter, and want to say 'beautiful land' my ass.

8. Sorry John My mind has not changed, It's a natural event.
After the clean up the thousands of water bottles & trash, taking down the energy consuming stage lights, Loading up the fuel sucking Semi's with all the equipment, get back on your private jets to go home to let me know how it all turns out. the cheapest ticket being 55 dollars sure kept the struggling every day worker from attending. Who needs those dirt carbon prints anyway.
I'm sure their only attendance will be cleaning up the enormous amount of trash after your event.

9. John Mayer trying to preach to US about saving the environment....LOL...don't celebrities know they lack creditibility when they try to preach to the public about important issues? If you ask me, they should just stick to their day job...entertainment.

11. To #7, no I think that it does matter. If he wants to be sanctimonious and lecture people, then he needs to practice what he preaches and stop being a hypocrite. Yes, it's hypocritical when your motto is to "do as I say, but not as I do." If you are going to support a cause, then you need to do it period...not just when it's convenient for you. The power to change the world's mind as he says? Yeah...I'll believe it when he trades in his car and drives around in a Prius. Otherwise, he needs to shut the hell up!

13. Recycling & saving energy is important, but not because it is a part of this global warming hype fest.
Don't confuse the difference of cleaning up the earth and the global warming " theory ".
That theory hardly justifies the amount of trash and energy consuming waste going on in London today.

14. to the person who mentioned john's cayenee suv, he's actually acknowledged the fact that he drives a gas-guzzling car. he noted what many others are practicing: it's not about changing your entire life to be green, it's to do little things that makes a big difference.

15. Dear John Mayer,

It's a concert. Not the second coming of Christ.

At best, some people will go, and enjoy themselves. That's about it.

Get over yourself, you narcissistic prick.

Sincerely,

Queen Elizabeth
