Daddy Dearest Supports Daughter Nicole

Nicole Richie's daddy Lionel Richie spoke out about his daughter's recent legal troubles. Nicole's DUI trial is set for July 11. She was arrested in December for driving under the influence and pleaded not guilty.

Richie told FOXNews.com that, "she keeps apologizing to me. I told her 'You're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing to your father at this age." Talk about arrested development!

Richie-the-elder then blamed the media for his daughter's drama. "There's just so much information out there right now -- MySpace, cell phones, the Internet. If we had had all that when The Commodores were around, God only knows what my mother and father would have seen." Probably some dancing on the ceiling!

17. Next thing we'll see is Lionell Ritchee coming to visit his daughter in jail. No different than Cathey and daddy hilton. They need to do the time they earned by breking the law just like anyone else. Pregnant women go to jail allthe time. Get over it Nicole!

18. I grew up with the Commodores; and yes Lionel is correct we did not have the media attention, computers, my space tmz...to ellaborate on every mistake that was made as a human being. It does not matter if you are a parent of a celebrity or parent of any young adult they make mistakes! As a parent you stand by them and hope they learn and move on to become a better person. Nicole, I do not know you and I am sure I will never meet you or your family, but I believe you will grow into a beautiful, mature woman. God Bless you, your unborn child .

Is nicole going to be another brintney pop out babies and still stay out all night in the clubs? they do not sound like good mothers to me as nicole said she hopes the baby will keep her out of jail, and did joel say he was not getting married but then turn aound and get this poor exsample of motherhood pregnant does anybody out there practice safe sex, will the baby have joels name since he does not use his fathers name because he was not a good father to them, i pitty the baby but it should fit in down in down in charles co . some stars do have good kids but you never hear about them only the no talent stuck up boobs like nicole and paris 2 worthless exsamples

26. No Lionel, look at how you raised this girl, you gave her too much, and allowed her to hang around other kids, that don't have respect for anything. She deserves to go to jail, pregnant or not! Stop using the media to make excuses for your daughter being a screw up!

28. Mr Richie seems like a loving father and he should do whatever he can to be a supportive parent. However, making public excuses and comments are not only stupid, they are also being read by other young and impressive girls. He should stand by his daughter but go on the records that Nicole has NOT made good decisions. Unfortunately, the judge will have to teach her that she must pay for her irresponsible actions.

29. This is nothing new to the judges. They punish stupid young adults every day. Nicole will be treated like every other stupid young lady that goes before the judge!

I bet these judges get tired of seeing these young people thumb their noses at the law and the public.

30. well let's hope she gets healthy (by gaining some weight for the baby). Gets proper punishment for the crime done. Straightens out her priorities, and raises a healthy normal child while being a mature adult.
