Everybody Cut "Footloose" -- Again

Zac EfronGet ready to kick off your Sunday shoes -- Paramount is re-making "Footloose." Oowhee, Marie!

Zac Efron, of "High School Musical" and "Hairspray" fame, will take on the Kevin Bacon role as the rebellious newcomer in a town where dancing has been banned.

Let's just hope Zac dances as well with a tractor as Kevin did.

16. It's not going to compare. Instead of remaking a hit into a likely flop, why don't they work on a flop and turn it into a modern hit? Gee there's an idea!

18. Oh, and I won't believe it until I see it on IMDB! It's not there yet...

19. ***WHY CAN'T THEY LEAVE well enough alone??!!?? "Footloose" was made in the right time and era. Innocent and fun...sadly, they can't pull that off today. When will Hollyweird learn that sometimes you just gotta move on and not ruin a good thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Don't add!!!, etc....

21. UGH! Yuck... I remember watching a little bit of "Highschool Musical" with my nieces & thinking the only future that boy has on film is in gay porn when he comes of age.

22. NOOO! SOMETIMES THE ORIGINALS ARE BETTER LEFT ALONE, WHAT'S UP W/ ALL THESE REMAKES? PLEASE START COMING UP W/ SOME NEW S**T HOLLYWOOD. IT WILL PROBABLY SUCK, JUST LIKE THE REMAKE OF CAN'T BUY ME LOVE ( LOVE DON'T COST A THING) AND I'M PRETTY SURE THE REMAKE OF HAIRSPRAY WILL SUCK AS WELL.

23. NO, NO, NO!!!!! Why doesn't Hollywood remake some of the bad movies and try to make them better. Why do they remake movies that were already great to begin with??? Also, Zac who??? Who is this little dork they are putting in the movie????

24. Dancing is still banned in bars in Huntington Beach. The establishment has to apply for a dance license and the city council never gives them out. Funny I didn't know Footloose was the True Hollywood Story of the OC

26. No, I did this show on stage and it was awesome but now they are going to re-make it? No, this is taking the whole Zac Efron thing way too far. I disapprove.

29. This is fantastic! I can't wait for the remake of Footloose. Great idea to put a fresh face on this eighties classic! I wonder who will play Ariel?!

30. this is so wrong. girly-boy freak from that insipid high-school musical (which, irnonically enough, happens to be a re-make of Grease) cannot pull off Ren MacCormack. Even Kevin Bacon had a slight (very slight, i think) problem with pulling off the whole "not really a macho hero revelling in coolness/ down-to-earth young man trying to the right thing by his peers" character, but this kid?
i suppose this Footloose is just the result of two hollywood fads coming together; 1) girly-boy being hot and a draw for the tweeny-bopper set and 2) Hollywood writers/directors/producers re-making everything in sight because they have no original ideas that don't suck out loud and want to try and re-create the "magic" (a.k.a. money) that the old films had when they were released.
there is a reason that classic movies are called CLASSICS; because they were right the first time and therefore won't dissapear into the oblivion just because they aren't as flashy and squeaky clean as contemporary mainstream crap. leave the good ones alone and the bad ones too if you're going to make them excruciating (e.g. marie antoinette).
