Cranky Queen Hisses, But Avoids Royal Hissy Fit

Click to return to TMZ.comLike a queen probably should, Queen Elizabeth was not amused when photographer Annie Leibovitz asked her to doff her tiara. But, contrary to reports, the monarch did not storm off the photo set in a royal huff.

BBC camerascaught Queen Elizabeth in a rather uncharacteristic moment of pique while being shot by Leibovitz for a portrait. The famed photog suggested that QE2 take off her tiara because the shot would be "less dressy" without it, slightly absurd given that her majesty was already wearing layers of elaborate robes.

"Less dressy? What do you think this is?" snaps the Queen, referring to her Garter robe.

In a BBC promo for a documentary about the Queen, it looks like she ditches the shoot, muttering to a lady-in-waiting, "I'm not changing anything. I've had enough dressing like this, thank you very much." But the BBC had to grovel at the Queen's feet today, admitting that that episode actually took place before the photo shoot, and that the Queen didn't, in fact, throw a tantrum.

4. Did anybody see "The Queen"? This lady thinks all in the world should bow down to her feet. It's outlandish in this day and age to have a king or a queen. And the "Royals" serve no purpose whatsoever. The stupid Brits pay for everything she does. Ridiculous.

8. You would think that Annie Leibovitz was a lowly paparazzi shooting up under her dress like they do in America sneaking questionable racy photos of young women of style and film. What does it take to be a queen? More than she displayed in this instance.

11. Americans simply do not always understand British traditions and protocols. When the Queen is in her Order of the Garter regalia she wears her tiara to denote that she is the head of that order. Liebovitz was out-of-line; she should have done her research so that she would have understood the siginificance of each emblem being worn by the Queen.

12. we pay for everything the prpresident has one way or the other. just like the president the royal family pays taxes.

it's not their fault of their blood lines and the different way their country has been for over 1000 yrs.

she has a job to do for england.. that is to respresent the country and bring in companies, tourist etc......

87% of the British prefer to have the royal.
