WWE: Benoit Passed Our Test

Chris Benoit, WWEThe WWE has issued the following statement concerning the toxicology results in the Chris Benoit case:

WWE understands that the toxicology reports for Chris Benoit indicate that he tested positive for testosterone and negative for anabolic steroids. On Mr. Benoit's last drug test in April 2007 administered by Aegis Labs, he tested negative for anabolic steroids and for testosterone. Given the toxicology report of GBI released today, it would appear that Mr. Benoit took testosterone sometime after his April 2007 test and the time he died. WWE understands that his dealings with Dr. Astin are currently being investigated, and WWE has no knowledge of whether Dr. Astin prescribed testosterone for Mr. Benoit at some point after the April 2007 tests.

For over 20 years, the WWE has been demonstrating our concern for the well being of our contracted athletes, instituting drug testing in 1987 leading up to our current Wellness Program which began on February 27, 2006, administered by Dr. David L. Black of Aegis Sciences Corporation - one of the world's foremost drug testing authorities.

We believe our Wellness Program is at the very least comparable to those of professional sports and is a program that will benefit WWE Superstars for generations to come.

18. Who couldn't pass the WWE's drug test?

They say go to the bathroom and fill the cup up with tap water and bring it back to us.

Has anyone ever heard of a WWE wrestler being suspended for roids?

Its because they and Vince McMahon support the use of them because they help make everyone millions.....Even Vince was on roids when he was hopping in the ring half a decade ago. A 60 year old man doesnt put that bulk on and become ripped at that age.

19. When will the world understand the epidemic proportion of opiate dependency in theis country? When are we going to start treating drug dependency as a medical; condition and not as a personality flaw...COME ON GUYS...Enough of the revolving door of rehabs that dont work.....People are dying on Hydrocodone every day and all we do is judge and not treat......

21. If there were over 100 NFL players that died within the last 10 years like in pro wrestling, would anybody else be saying that there'll no NFL soon because some players make stupid mistakes and fail drug tests and lose money? C'mon, all you idiots criticizing WWE for trying to "save their ass" with their press release need to wake up. All pro wrestlers are grown men and the ones that died from drug overdoses and alcohol abuse did that of their own free will. No one forced them to do those things; they chose to do it! It's sad that 100 wrestlers have died in 10 years, but a lot of them did not die from using steroids alone or at all. Stop using athletes and wrestlers as pawns to spew your pathetic lies and criticisms.

22. I DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THE WWE SAYS. CHRIS BENOIT WOULD HAVE TESTED POSITIVE ON ANYBODY'S SCALE, EXCEPT OF COURSE FOR THE WWE SCALE. I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE FAMILY KILLERS DON'T START WITH THEMSELVES FIRST AND LEAVE THE REST OF THE FAMILY ALONE. OH NO, LETS MAKE EVERYBODY'S FAMILY MISERABLE WITH GRIEF OVER LOSING LOVED ONES TO A DRUG CRAZED MANIAC.

25. WWF....oops, they lost that name.

WWE...here is an example of their test.

TESTER (to wrestler): Are you taking steroids?

WRESTLER: No.

TESTER: OK, that's good enough for me.

27. I just want everyone to know that my 13 year old son is a HUGE WWE fan. He was a fan of Chris' too until this. He is very confused and does not understand how or why someone would do this. But I have not and will not deter him from looking up to the men and women of the WWE. If I bring him up properly, then he will know that just because he looks up to or idolizes someone does not mean he has to or even wants to do what they do. What Mr. Benoit did does not change the fact that he was a great wrestler. I do hold the WWE resposible for what Chris did. He acted ALONE!!! God bless the families of the victims.

28. Look I've been a wrestling fan for a while now, and a huge fan of Benoits, I'm still in shock of what happened and I don't think anybody will ever truley know why it did, it just makes me sick that many ignorant people out there just blame everything on Steroids. Professional Wrestling is a great buisness that creates heros not monsters, what happened at the Benoit residence that fateful weekend was not something that was going thorough his veins it was what Chris Benoit had going on inside his head that had probably been built up for years that finally snapped. So give the WWE a break, they just lost one of wrestlings all time greats not to metion his legacy.

29. Number 16's post is typical of most ignorant people and the media. If the media were to do some actual fact checks, they would realize the WWE Wellness program has helped. A number of WWE Superstars have been suspended and even a few have been sent to rehab paid for by the WWE to get help. Is the program perfect? Absolutely not! Show me one drug testing program in professional sports that is. The WWE in the past year has released a number of superstars due to drug related issues. So, please stop jumping to conclusions and assuming you it all about the WWE!

30. Let them rest in peace. The report came back clean of anabolic steroids. There was obviously more to it than that anyway. He was unstable. period. God Bless Nancy and Daniel.
