WWE: Benoit Passed Our Test

Chris Benoit, WWEThe WWE has issued the following statement concerning the toxicology results in the Chris Benoit case:

WWE understands that the toxicology reports for Chris Benoit indicate that he tested positive for testosterone and negative for anabolic steroids. On Mr. Benoit's last drug test in April 2007 administered by Aegis Labs, he tested negative for anabolic steroids and for testosterone. Given the toxicology report of GBI released today, it would appear that Mr. Benoit took testosterone sometime after his April 2007 test and the time he died. WWE understands that his dealings with Dr. Astin are currently being investigated, and WWE has no knowledge of whether Dr. Astin prescribed testosterone for Mr. Benoit at some point after the April 2007 tests.

For over 20 years, the WWE has been demonstrating our concern for the well being of our contracted athletes, instituting drug testing in 1987 leading up to our current Wellness Program which began on February 27, 2006, administered by Dr. David L. Black of Aegis Sciences Corporation - one of the world's foremost drug testing authorities.

We believe our Wellness Program is at the very least comparable to those of professional sports and is a program that will benefit WWE Superstars for generations to come.

32. WWE is covering because Benoit was one of their big money makers. Of course, how many wrestlers has WWE refused the right to "perform" because they found steroids in their system. NO big money performers. What a crock they are trying to feed their "fans"!!

35. It has been noted elsewhere Chris Benoit has had a terrible past couple of years personally. He lost his best friend in Eddie Guerrero in 2005, his best friend in Japan less than a year later, a neighbor he was close to and others.

Grief over loss plus medication and alcohol (Xantax & Alcohol are nasty together) and whatever was the trigger event can make many do strange things.

Whatever truly did happen though is the responsibility of the individuals who committed their actions, no one else. Blaming others never solves a thing. We should be stressing individual accountability and individual responsibility a whole lot more then trying to point a finger elsewhere. No excuses.

36. I dont think people are trying to put blame on the wwe. what there saying is when vince says steriods are not used in the buisness. were saying how dumb do we look.he is trying to turn things away from him.when he could be a poster ad for steriods.i know we may never know the real reason this happened.there are some things in this case that make me wonder like didnt the people who got the text messages find it wierd they were getting them?how could they not know something was wrong.think about it. what if someone you knew sent you that text message.would it not make you call and say what the hell is wrong?when he told one friend i love you even he said that wasnt like him.i just think it should have got someones attention sooner.not wait and then say hey he sent me these wierd text messages.im not trying to make what chris did right or make an excuse.i just believe theres more to this story its just we may never know the rest of it.I grew up watching wrestling its hard thinking any one of those guys could do this.

37. #27... so are you disappointed and ashamed that you were such a big fan of such a monster? to continue to hold him in high regard when this has happened has a lot to say about wrestling fans.

39. #32 Responding to your Comment: Of course I am dissappointed but ashamed...no, Chris Beniot commited a vile henius act, but the guy I've idolized for 10 years is not the man who did this, the man who did this was a completely different person who was sick in the head for whatever reason, its just a real shame that all of the accomplishments of his Hall of Fame career have gone down the toilet.

41. The WWE lets their wrestlers know ahead of time when the drug testing will begin thats why they pass. You gonna tell me they dont influence the group that makes these so called random test? Bring an outside official drug testing company. One that will definately do random testing and one who's not be influenced by the big bucks of Vince..
Congress must get involved Now before we see more wrestlers die.

42. I just find it amazing how people always want to blame somebody for a problem that a person has instead of blaming the person who's at fault. In this case of the tragic death of Chris Benoit and his family, the blame should be on Chris. No one with the WWE held a gun to Chris and made him take the drugs. Chris took the drugs because he wanted to take them, not because the WWE made him take them. The WWE should not be a scapegoat and neither should anyone associated with the WWE. It's time for the people in this world to place the blame where the blame should be, and that's with Chris Benoit, not the WWE.

43. AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT SEES THAT THIS GUY WAS A DWARF???? IF YOU TAKE AWAY HIS STERIOD INDUCED MUSCLES, HE'S MIS-SHAPENED.....LOOK AT THE LENGTH OF HIS ARMS, AT HIS FACE. AND HIS CHILD WAS THE SAME WAY. NO ONE EVER BRINGS THIS UP. HE HAD SOME SERIOUS ISSUES.....THE LITTLE MAN SYNDROME WENT BEYOND "NORMAL" WITH HIM.

44. Yeah I've noticed. He looked like a runt. was it just the drugs or was he born that way? I don't understand the attraction to wrestling but I understand Chris was a very sick little puppy.

45. HE HAS TEN TIMES THE NORMAL LEVEL!! IF A DOCTOR WAS GOING TO SUPPLEMENT A PATIENT BECAUSE THEY WERE LOW YOU WOULD NOT GIVE THEM TEN TIMES NO MATTER WHAT. WHEN IS THE WWE GOING TO ADMIT THAT THEY WERE WRONG AND THAT THEY ARE CONTRIBUTING TO THE RAGE AND DEATHS THAT ARE HAPPENING?THEY ENCOURAGE STEROID USE AND THEY DO NOT (NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY WANT TO TRY TO DENY IT) GIVE OBJECTIVE TESTS. THEY WARN THESE GUYS AHEAD OF TIME AND EVEN GIVE RE-TESTS. THE WWE IS MORE RESPONSIBLE THAN THE DOCTORS OR ANYONE ELSE!!
