Tammy Faye Dies at 65

Tammy Faye MessnerTammy Faye Messner, who as Tammy Faye Bakker helped her husband, Jim, build a multimillion-dollar evangelism empire and then saw it collapse in disgrace, has died. She was 65.

Messner, who had battled colon cancer since 1996 that more recently spread to her lungs, died peacefully at her home Friday, said her booking agent, Joe Spotts, in an e-mail to the Associated Press.

A family service was held Saturday in a private cemetery, where her ashes were interred, he said.

46. She was a great person.
I just saw her interview with larry king last night...
Even as she was 65 lbs, the woman always was smiling and positive.
I am not sure many of us could of faced death as positive as her.
I am happy she finally found a good husband who stuck beside her until her dying day..

I seen her in the past in the malls in florida many years ago.. she always smiled..
People can say - she wore to much make-up or whatever..
But tammy faye was a cheerful and graceful human being until the end...

47. I prayed that if God wasn't going to heel her, than take her peacefully. I cannot believe that people are saying mean things like that. I hope and pray you get Cancer real soon and die, or better yet your mammy.

49. Tammy is now where she always wanted to be...in Heaven. I bet she's sharing make-up secrets with all the angels...LOL. I will miss you, Tammy; but we'll see you again someday, as sure as there's a Heaven.

50. Tammy had a heart that most of us only wish for. Her ability to forgive those who caused her and her family so much suffering. I will miss her and know the angel's are rejoicing now. She was so very blessed to have Ro in her life. God bless you Tammy.

51. My occupation brings me in close contact with many terminally ill patients, including cancer patients. Her last message to the world on the Larry King show was basically, have faith, there's a far better life awaiting us, and it's not a scary thing to say goodbye when it is time to go. Those are mighty important lessons for all of us. May she rest in the peace she so richly deserves.

52. Whatever she might have did with her former husband in regards to illegal activity at least at the end she was able to come to terms with her illness and to deal with it with dignity and still keep her faith.

56. I think that despite the glitz and the deception of the early yrs.. Tammy was truly a believer in an afterlife and also that people were inherently good. She was an intensely positive person who made others feel better about themselves.. who can fault that? If she made anyone's life better, then her life had worth. I hope she finds the eternal heaven she espoused in this life . Rest in peace.

57. She is best remembered for helping to loot the gullible in the name of God. This has long been an esteemed practice in America.

59. What a beautiful, pure, divine soul. It is darker, sadder world without her in it. She was one of the most NON-judgemental christians I have ever seen. Everytime she was on Larry King she just radiated.

Her last interview brought me to tears... She looked so frail and sickly. It is a shame what cancer does to a person.

RIP TAMMY FAYE. You were LOVED!
