Travolta in Airport Trauma

High-flying John Travolta is in an uproar over an airport near his $8 million home in Florida. Travolta contends he was lied to(!) by owners of the Greystone Airport near Ocala, Fla., because they didn't want him to land his Boeing 707 there.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, the new Mrs. Edna Turnblad claims that Greystone owners James and Christine Garemore falsely told Travolta that they couldn't accommodate his jumbo jet. It's so tough owning your own plane!

Travolta says he used to use the Greystone airport all the time, but in 2006, the Garemore's changed the airport's master record to indicate that large planes could no longer land there. The Garemores cite deteriorating runway conditions as a major reason for the change.

But Travolta isn't buying it.

Said Michael J. McDermott, Travolta's attorney, "It's spin in order to cover his butt because he knows that he is in big trouble for doing what he did, and we intend to establish that."

136. I wasn't aware it was a huge problem to fly into Ocala Intl. and it's true, that runway isn't in good shape -- http://www.airnav.com/airport/17FL -- So says the FAA!

138. What is it with these scientologist - commerically holier than thou. He's pulled a Tom Cruise. He better rectify the situation soon - or there's no coming back. Sueing cause you can't land your 707 at a small regional aireport is the epitome of an elitist. Jerk.

John I always thought you were the greatest. But, this act really shows your true character.

141. If he can't land his jet there, how is he going to take off so he can drop nuclear bombs into volcanoes and save us from XENU?
Please, please Mr. Airport owner, let John Land. If what we hear is correct he will "reward" you any way you want...any way.
It's funny to see all the area Scientology clones come out and defend Travolta the second something negative is said about him.
He is fat, he is a closet bisexual, he is hiding his son, he is married to a beard, he is a mediocre actor and he is overrated, he is a member of a dangerous cult. Saying what is true does not make us jealous of him.
I would not be him for all the money in the world.
I am sure he is in a difficult position. The Scientologists will destroy him (i'm sure they have pics and testimony) if he says anything negative. He has a good life so why should he?
I just wish he would go away.

142.

Travolta pissed off his neighbors in one of his other neighborhoods, too.
In Isleboro, Maine, the neighbors complained about the same thing. Flying the big jet in/out at ungodly hours...maybe, as a compromise, Johnny should just get a smaller plane.
OOPS; that wouldn't work; his ego wouldn't fit in it.

143. 151. That's true. I live nearby and can vouch for what you said. Around here he's known as a not very nice person, full of himself, treating the locals as peasants. He's a very strange acting person, almost as if he wasn't quite right in the head.

144. All you need to know about Travolta is that he refuses to give his autistic son the medical help the boy so desperately needs. That says it all doesn't it?

146. I love it when the liberal hollywood elite get their noses bent out of joint by those that are unimpressed by their fame and wealth tell them NO! As a privately owned airport the owners have the right to set the weight limits as they wish, even if it's one ton under the weight of Travolta's plane. I this upsets him so, he should make an offer to buy the airport and then other rich people can demand to use it and he can pay for any repairs or maintance issues. Come on John pony up the bucks, you have pleanty!

148. Re: 'As for his money, he worked hard for it.' posted by jeanie (appx #75).

I could fill a coliseum with laborers who work far harder than JT all their lives, yet who can't afford to insure their families! Hard work, my ass.

These super-rich people have lost all perspective. And, no...I'm not jealous. I know that money does NOT buy happiness.

This is such a smarmy example of conspicious consumption. I get a picture of a 2-year-old, throwing a tantrum, saying "I wanna land my big plane at the airport, and drive my little plane home!!!"

Also, did anyone else find it weird that JT wants to be able to see his 'little' plane from the window?

d anyone else find it odd

150. I think people should leave John and his family alone, hes earned his money and hes been flying into that airport for awhile and if it really is cracking the runway im sure Mr. Travolta would have no problem helping replace it, but people complain that hes a baby and spoiled well guess what people hes earned that and if we had the money he did we would be pissed too if we couldnt fly our plane into the airport, and one more thing you call him fat boy well hopefully the ones who are saying that only way 100 pounds soak and wet... Leave the man alone.... Keep up your good work Mr. Travolta
