Travolta in Airport Trauma

High-flying John Travolta is in an uproar over an airport near his $8 million home in Florida. Travolta contends he was lied to(!) by owners of the Greystone Airport near Ocala, Fla., because they didn't want him to land his Boeing 707 there.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, the new Mrs. Edna Turnblad claims that Greystone owners James and Christine Garemore falsely told Travolta that they couldn't accommodate his jumbo jet. It's so tough owning your own plane!

Travolta says he used to use the Greystone airport all the time, but in 2006, the Garemore's changed the airport's master record to indicate that large planes could no longer land there. The Garemores cite deteriorating runway conditions as a major reason for the change.

But Travolta isn't buying it.

Said Michael J. McDermott, Travolta's attorney, "It's spin in order to cover his butt because he knows that he is in big trouble for doing what he did, and we intend to establish that."

The point of these boards IS to spout off on issues. We can only do so much with the information we are given to work with. We all don't live next door to the area in question like you apparently do. Get off OUR butts. It's just an entertainment site for crying out loud and we are commenting on an entertainer.

47. His fat ass should be tooling around in his blimp! He outgrew that plane years ago! TOM CRUISE and JOHN TRAVOLTA NEED TO BE HORSE WHIPPED!

48. As a private airport, I do not think they should have to, or will be forced to, accommodate John Travolta's 707. And while I like Travolta, I think it is audacious of him to try to force the issue. I am sure if he had problems landing his jet because of a deteriorating runway he would sue at that point too. I think the owners are being cautious, it would be easy enough to prove - any other big jets landing at this airport? But I digress, it is a private airport and access can be granted to whomever, or whatever they choose. I don't think landing rights are a constitutional issue.
My mother used to say don't complain unless you have a solution.
Solution - John pull out your big fat wallet and magnanimously offer to pay the repair costs yourself.

49. Really and truly, shouldn't there just be a law against individuals owning private jets? Guys like Travolta are killing us, one immense greenhouse gas emission at a time.

50. I agree with Annie-some of you people are a little too serious for this site. There's always some bitch on here correcting spelling or grammar, or spouting off on how your uneducated. Eat s**t you educators.

52. I wonder about all the people that are complaining about other peoples figures. Do THEY still have the figure they had when they went to see Saturday Night Fever? Take a look at yourself before you cast stones at others.

55. I did some research on this problem just now and it's more than just about the landing rights. You all should take time to research it. Travolta and the Garemores are reprising the Hatfield and McCoy feud that has been festering for sometime. This subject would be a good movie and comedy for Travolta.

56. What does Travolta have to have such a big plane for anyway?

57. A lot of experts out there that have never seen the runway. As of last night, it was in great shape and it was built to handle a 747. If you knew the real dispute which has risen over personal matters that are not part of Travolta, you would realize that it is just a legal ploy.

Also unless John gained 40 pounds in the last month, that picture is old. Actors do put on weight for certain movies and then lose the weight after filming.

This is just a place for armchair experts to voice an opinion that they have no knowledge of the subject. Garemore has already stated that he will loose;. But it sells papers.

58. First off, from what I've heard and read, he moved to Jumbolair, because his old neighbors complained about the noise that landings and take offs in his 707 caused. I live just a mile or so from the main entrance to Jumbolair, and John's takes offs happen between late afternoons or early evenings and his landings usually happen around 2 AM to just before daybreak. That is his personal choice of his normal working day, he is up and about when most people are ending their day. One can always tell when he is in his Florida home, late day and in the middle of the night take offs and landings are the only clues you need. The Ocala Regional Airport is maybe a 30 minute dirive from his front door, but he likes his planes parked where he can SEE them at all times. True, that he can afford to pay for the upgrades needed at Jumbolair, but would YOU like it, if he lived with his 707 and his gulf stream in your neighborhood??

Tsk, tsk, tsk... sounds like someone is JEALOUS to me... doncha know honey, that you can BUY your own now? Quit bitchin'....

And to "Ocala area resident"....
THANK YOU for one of the FEW (if not the ONLY) post I read that provided some FACTS. Must be the nature of the beast (or at least, the "beasties" that read here) to always put down someone else for something THEY haven't got... (i.e. money, wealth, fame)...

You see it all over... never saw such a bunch of UNHAPPY JEALOUS people in my life.... guess they didn't make it to the "big time"... so what?

Thanks again, Ocala!!
(Rock on, John T., Kelly P., and FAMILY!!!)
