Travolta in Airport Trauma

High-flying John Travolta is in an uproar over an airport near his $8 million home in Florida. Travolta contends he was lied to(!) by owners of the Greystone Airport near Ocala, Fla., because they didn't want him to land his Boeing 707 there.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, the new Mrs. Edna Turnblad claims that Greystone owners James and Christine Garemore falsely told Travolta that they couldn't accommodate his jumbo jet. It's so tough owning your own plane!

Travolta says he used to use the Greystone airport all the time, but in 2006, the Garemore's changed the airport's master record to indicate that large planes could no longer land there. The Garemores cite deteriorating runway conditions as a major reason for the change.

But Travolta isn't buying it.

Said Michael J. McDermott, Travolta's attorney, "It's spin in order to cover his butt because he knows that he is in big trouble for doing what he did, and we intend to establish that."

64. I wonder why so many people who comment on the internet are such rude jerks. I don't blame Travolta if he was lied to. None of us want to buy a home (no matter what the price range), and find that we have been lied to. I know there are more pressing problems in the world, but for you idiots who can't seem to stop pointing that out, I bet you have personal problems that you think are important, but others could care less about. Is Travolta not owning a plane going to solve world hunger? Most of the people who are starving in other countries do so because their leaders sell food to countries with money--they could care less about their own people. The real issue is about whether it is safe to land his plane. I bet he could probably repair the runway with the money the attorneys are going to charge him, but it is his privilege to take it to court. I hope the judge will rule fairly, but there is nothing anyone can do to stop him from going to court or to make the judge rule fairly. I'd just like to know why so many of you are so hateful, and why do you even bother to get on the internet if you hate everyone and everything? Some of the comments are so ridiculous. He has large stomach, you don't like some of his movies, he is too rich. You don't have a life---does criticizing everyone and everything make you feel better? Why don't you stick to the issue and leave your "personal" comments to yourself. I like most of Travolta's movies, and he seems like a nice guy. I hate scientology, but his religion isn't important here nor is it hurting anyone. If you hate his movies, don't watch them. I'm sure I probably wouldn't like some of your favorite movies. It is a shame that I don't even want to read comments anymore because some of you people managed to own a computer and you think you are such hot stuff. Get over it. NEWSFLASH: Most people own computers now. You must live such sad lives that your big thrill is getting on the internet to trash everyone.

66. Living a mile from Travolta (and being a pilot) I've followed the entire case with interest. IN a nutshell, it is a new fly-in community but the airport runway's land is owned by 3 separate people. Garemore owns a good part and also owns the land that the taxiways to the houses are on.

Jumbolair owns part of the runway and is the subdivision owner. They once had an option to but the entire runway but decided not to. Subsequently they sold lots. Now they don't want to pay what Garemore is asking for the taxiways.

However ... Travolta has a gentleman's handshake agreement with Garemore to allow him, and only him, to use the taxiways. Until last year, JT flew in his 707 and his Gulfstream III. The runway is quite deteriorated and I believe Garemore is well within his rights, as the formal airport operator, to restrict the runway to certain weights. JT still can, and does, fly his G3 in and out several times a week (it's there now).

JT seems to be biting the hand that feeds him because by suing, Garemore can simply rescind the handshake agreement and JT won't even be able to fly the G3 there any more. Silly.

70. Yuk! Are you sure this is John Revolta? I had to clean my glasses with windex and get two inches from my computer screen to check out this porker! Now I know some of us as we age, we tend to pork out and start to hang in places others use to find as attractive, and even imagined running their hands over these body parts. Shame on you TMZ! I think you guys used this "unflattering" photo of jumbo jet with that evin grin to add more spice to this story. Oops?! I forgot my comments about the crummy runway!
