Gore Banks Green from Green

Green giant Al Gore makes a pretty penny off of his environmental speaking engagements. The former veep raked in around $100,000 for a recent 75-minute speaking engagement at the University of California, San Diego, reports thesmokinggun.com by way of the L.A. Times.

What did the Big Greenie require during his stay? Only first-class air travel for himself and one companion; $1,000 per day for incidental expenses; security guards; and an environmentally-conscious vehicle for all road travel. The prima donna vice president also demanded that there be no press, video or audio taping of his appearance, and that he have full approval over all banners, logos, and communications materials for the event.

47. If it hadn't been for Al Gore- we would have never had an Internet and you wouldn't be sitting here right now and using the Internet to read and post about him.. Don't you remember back in 1999 and what big Al Gore said?
Here is his exact quote: "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

48. So, TMZ....

Okay for others to request perks as a part of their speaking engagements but not a Democrat or Al Gore?

As an "Independent Voter", TMZ is carrying their garbage regarding the Gore Family too far! Guess it's a slow day in the newsroom, eh?

Oh, let me remember....did Vice President Gore (who in all likelihood still has his CIA detail) say something about Paris Hilton who still is not involved in the grandiose service she called press to announce that's got the young Republicans in the TMZ newsroom all bent out of shape and, therefore, have to carry-on with the Gore theme nastiness?

50. What a tool Gore is! Global warmimg is nothing but a tree hugging, money grubbing pyramid sceme. What hppened to the other scams these morons terrorized us with over the years? i.e.: 30 years ago we worried about global cooling, 20 years ago it was we would run out of oil in 10 years(at least according to that chucklehead from cheers). This is only the latest in a littany of B.S. these dopes try to scam the people of the whole planet with. Nothing wrong with conserving resources, but do it because it's the right thing to do, not because Gore is making a killing selling carbon credits. What a bunch of ignorami

51. Paris Hilton makes $400,000 more just to show up at parties. Ronald Reagan made 4 million for a one time speech in Japan after he left office. What is your problem people? If you're green and a Democrat, you should be paid minimum wage only? Just because he gets paid $100,00 for speaking doesn't subtract from the importance of what he is saying. If this is all the Right can throw at him .. then they're in a world of trouble.

53.
Need I say more.

"The Story of Two Houses"

House #1
A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas.
Add
on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by
gas.

In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average
American household does in a year.

The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400.

In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the
national average for an American home.

This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt"
area.

It's in the South.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
House #2
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university
this house incorporates every "green" feature current home
construction
can provide.
The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high
prairie in the American southwest.
A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing
ground
water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water, usually
67
degrees F., heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer.
The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it
consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional
heating/cooling system
Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon
underground cistern.
Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground
purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then
irrigates the land surrounding the house.
Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property
to
blend into the surrounding rural landscape.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of the
"environmentalist" Al Gore.

HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence
of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

An "inconvenient truth".

*******************************************************

The above is true. You can check it out if you wish.

54. So what? What does any of this have to do with "being green"? So he flew first class - so what? Is flying first class any less "fuel saving" than coach? NO! Is having incidentals of $1,000 a day a big issue? No - when your the former VP, you have to pay for extra security. Have anything to do with being green? NO Again! Controlling your image, and press, photos, video, etc is all part of the STANDARD speaking contract that any prominent speakers requirements. Giuliani, GHW Bush, Clinton, Bill Gates, etc etc, Its all the same. They control their image. So what? have anything to do with being green? NO AGAIN!

This is a NON-news item that tries to make news where none exists so idiots like some of these posters have to make some comment like they actually read and thought about it for a second before writing their spewage.

56. #54 If you don't have a problem taking money from well intentioned people, and redirecting it, I think the United Way is hiring. Remember 9/11, Katrina? That kind of money you can keep.

When the trees were chopped down but the lumber Jacks you tried to put out of work, they moved to another tree. I wish you would move out of the country and leave me alone. After 8 years in the oval office you could not even win your own state Tenesse or Arkansas against George Bush. Al your a joke
