Dillon Pulls a Dourdan

Matt Dillon isn't familar with how TMZ treats people who like to hit.

Without saying a solitary word, the other Dillon brother walked right up to a TMZ photog in New York this weekend and smacked the s**t out of his camera. Not cool, dude! After the sneak attack, the not-so-tough guy walked off in a huff -- only to stop a few seconds later to stare down our shooter.

What's he so pissed about? It was the public that had to endure "You, Me and Dupree"!

In a statement to TMZ, Dillon's rep claims "You don't show the part of the footage where the photographer kept hassling him. He wouldn't have pushed the camera away if he hadn't."

For the record, that footage doesn't exist as our photog shot every frame of footage from the other side of the street -- until Dillon approached him.

31. You guys should put the camera down sometimes. Do we really need footage of Matt Dillon walking down the street minding his own business? If he doesn't attack your guy, you have no story.

32. I know paps can be difficult and I know some celebs are full of themselves, but this wasn't even worth viewing. So what if he yelled at him? So what if he slapped the camera? This wasn't worth space, this time.
Sorry TMZ. I Love ya, I really do!
But, this one is a big ole "And?????!" story.

33. enough is enough already. The paps harass until they get what they want, which is what this guy got. These people need to live part of their lives privately, not followed around 24/7. getting coffee is NOT news or breaking news.

35. How can you compare Matts pushing a camera away to what Dourdan did?
It looks to me like Matt just shoved the camera away. If he would have smacked the sh_t out of the camera it would have probably knocked the camera to the ground and possibly the man holding it.
You can’t compare that with Dourdan demanding a pap turn off a camera and then beating him and chasing him around town. Matt’s pushing the camera down did not put the fear of God into the photographer as you could clearly see.
The man being chased by Dourdan sounded terrified and he was obviously traumatized by that experience.

The reality is, paparazzi can be like vultures and they have become more aggressive and grown in numbers in the last few years. It has a lot to do with gossip media like TMZ and others wanting footage and willing to pay for it. As the price and competition increase so does the risk people are willing to take to get the footage.

I am sure many paparazzi are good law abiding people but it does not appear to be a career that necessarily draws out the cream of the crop of society.
I feel sure some paps are manipulative and ruthless and would do anything to get a celebrity to react and give them a shot they can sell.

It does not take a genius to realize someone is going to get harmed or snap with the constant harassment and pressure of the paparazi. Citizens driving home from work should not be at a greater risk of being in an accident because Paris Hilton stopped by Starbucks on her way home from shopping and tons of paparazzi are chasing her.

LA needs to pass and enforce some strict city ordnances to protect they celebrities and help balance the rights of the gossip media with the rights of the celebrities and people in the theater of the chase. Being famous should not give the paparazzi a carte blanch pass to make someone’s life miserable.

You simply cant have grown men driving around trying to keep one eye on the direction Brittney Spears car is headed and the other on their camera bag reaching for blank tapes and fresh batteries. It is too dangerous for everyone on the street.
You can’t expect the people doing the chasing to change unless they are forced to do so and made to pay for breaking rules.

36. TMZ,

Here you go again. Yes, celebrities do like attention, but nowhere is it written that they are not entitled to any privacy.
Paparazzi have caused commotion and sometimes even injury in the past simply by their presence and tenacity to "scoop" one another.
So if someone asks or tells you to turn off the camera, then just turn it off and move on to the next story. Otherwise, you should expect a negative reaction.

TMZ, stop whining and stop twisting the stories to make yourselves look like victims.

38. Matt Dillon seems like a pretty cool and composed dude. I'm guessing he was provoked. Maybe the photog made a crack about that goofy "Herbie" movie he made!

39. dillon's response was perfect...not hostile or anything, just to-the-point to the harasser.

40. Here we go again! Another whining photog. like some have said when you are a celeb all the paps attention goes with the territory, well same with the photogs - it comes with the territory. I like TMZ but when crotch shots have even been tried on even Victoria Beckham, it seems the photogs are slime. I'm sure Matt was provoked. Harvey I really like you and I think the photogs are the problem as well as some of the so called writers on this site. I've read babies referred to as Bastards and such. This site is getting to the level of The National Enquirer. I thought TMZ was a step or two above. Boy, was I wrong. I'll still visit site but I hope it gets less desperate for shots and stories.

As far as Paris Hilton and the paps - they keep her popular. it's not like she has talent such as Lindsay Lohan. Of course she (camera wh*re, Paris) will suck up to them.

41. TMZ paps seem to to be:
1) Wienies, wimps, wussies
2) Poor losers
3) Liars

42. Gee, I wonder why he decided to hit the camera... it's because you annoying paparazzi stalk and suffocate these people. It's like when an owner kicks its own dog, the dog then bites back, then the owner punishes the dog for "behaving badly". It's a guilty pleasure of mine to know what the celebrities are up to, but NOT when it requires stalking and invasion into private personal lives.

43. TMZ is a good gossip site but they totaly get into people's faces, they deserve what they get. Granted they are trying to make a living, there are other ways to approtching people other then getting straight up in their faces.
