Romney on Osama Sign: "Lighten Up"

Confronted at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Sunday about the now infamous picture of him with a sign that read, "No to Obama, Osama and Chelsea's Moma," Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney had a simple response: "Lighten up." Open mouth, insert foot!

The photo, which first appeared on TMZ, sparked a reader of BuckeyeStateBlog.com to ask, "How can you compare any American to Osama bin Laden?" Romney danced around the question with answers like, "I don't spend all the time looking at the signs and the t-shirts and the buttons." LDS should stand for "Look at the Damn Sign!"

When pressed further, Romney said, "Just lighten up." A true statesman.

That's a truly admirable goal, (REALLY...NO KIDDING...) but I have just one question:

Well then...exactly WHO are you gonna vote for??? You may well not have ANYONE to vote for...IF that's your criteria! LOL!

Would he have said HITLER, no.

My race is not READY to rule the world, Obama needs to come to our communities and straighten out some things first, he should use his power in that way.

He'll just be another Mayor Nagin, becasue we aren't a race strong enough RIGHT NOW, to hold him in a GOOD LIGHT.

67. Let's see , people have called The President of The USA worse things than that and no one in the press seems to have a problem with that. They have even made movies about killing himn and written books about killing him. Now if he was a democrat I guess it would be different. You have freedom of speech until you say something that the liberals , democrats , homosexuals, blacks, or press don't agree with or like. And it would not surprise me that Obama would be very forgiving to Osama if he were to becaome President. He would probably invite hime to the WHite House for a fancy tax payer dinner. As would Hillery.

70. Its still ok to be prejudice against Christians and especially MORMONS. Leave it to you libs to continual expose your true hatred for anything or anyone who believes in Christ.

You raped, killed and pillaged the LDS people from Ill. and chased them to SLC, UT. and you continue to do so becuase they believe in Jesus, the sanctity of life and respect for all beings.

Please do some research on those LDS folk and find out how they help make the world better by being first responders to real issues. Weather disasters, famon, hunger, water and health issues are what concern this group and they go about helping the world under the radar becuase its not glamor or hollywood.

71. i am extremely annoyed by the fact that this whole stupid topic is about mitt 'offending' someone yet TMZ can insult an entire religion. TMZ is full of HYPOCRITICAL people to think that it's fair to say "LDS should stand for..." yet they can't get over the stupid sign he was seen with. you need to find the beam in your eye before looking for the mote in your neighbors'.
p.s.- thanks to simple intelligence for finally pointing out that the LDS church does so many positive things in this world, despite the way they were treated.
