The "Price Is Right" for Drew Carey!

Comedian Drew Carey confirmed to David Letterman today that he is indeed going to take over for Bob Barker as host of "The Price Is Right."

In a taping for tonight's episode of "The Late Show," Carey told Dave, "It's a done deal. I'm the new host of "The Price Is Right.'"

Drew told Dave that he found out the deal was complete while he was waiting to come out for the show. The deal is so fresh, Drew doesn't even know when he begins!

76. I for one am very pleased at the choice of Drew Carey for host of TPIR. He'll have some mighty big shoes to fill, but I think that Drew will do it just fine, with a style and class of comedy all his own, and do it very well. I muchly enjoyed the humor and wit of his previous primetime tv shows, and now watching the new Price is Right with him hosting will be a much needed shot of comedic entertainment to break up the usual monotonous daytime tv fare. I can only imagine the fun contestants and the audience will have with Drew at the helm. I think he'll do Bob proud. Good choice, CBS.

84. Ya' know i liked Drew Carey as a comedian and his sitcoms, but who did he @?%& at CBS to get this gig. The show (and sponsors) will go down in flames. Totally "fish out of water" decision.

90. I think Drew is a great candidate and will do very well at the new job. The only other person I can think of that could also do the job as well was Alec Baldwin - but I do not think he even applied...
